Quick & dirty since we ride shortly. Action begins at 5a on ESPN & the app.

Men's draw

Women's draw

This is pretty crazy...

Wimbledon's arrival on the tennis calendar means very different things on the men's and women's sides of the tour.

For the men, Wimbledon represents probably the most predictable of all Slams. In the past 20 years, only 12 players have reached the gentlemen's final. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic accounted for more than half of those 40 spots in the finals by themselves, and Djokovic has made the past six finals, winning four and losing the past two to Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz, meanwhile, has won the past four Slams on natural surfaces (clay or grass). If you just want to pencil him into the finals already, it's rational.

On the women's side, however, things are far different. Despite a pretty clear hierarchy forming atop the women's tour -- Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff have won nine of the past 10 Slams on hard courts or clay -- seven different women have won the past seven Wimbledon titles. The past four years at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club have given us 13 different semifinalists. Grass is the ultimate sign of greatness for the men and a random-outcome generator for the women.

I'm digging these new Adidas white clothes with the green trim.  Those are old school and cool as hell.

Know it ain’t happening, but wish the ladies could wear solid color skirts/bottom of their dresses. Kind of the reverse of white pants, solid tops in baseball.

The curfew is such bullshit, but quintessentially British

Went by the club last week (as posted on ATP/WTA thread and the grounds are TINY!

The club is in the middle of a neighborhood with tons of small streets coming off of the two main roads by it that say

“NO PARKING / RESIDENTS ONLY”

And that was just for qualifiers. Parking is on grass somewhere in the golf course across one of the main roads borders and who knows how long after the last point does it take for drivers & ride share passengers to get out of the neighborhood.

The US Open & Australian Open are nowhere near residential areas and I think that the French Open is only semi-residential. Wimbledon’s practice courts back up to the back fences of houses.

It makes total sense that they would have a curfew/ stopping time.

#3 Jessica Pegula won a total of 5 games.

First round bed shitting against…

Pegula had better have been injured or having crippling menstrual cramps to get trounced by someone over 100 spots below her.

Frog aggy just took out Zverev. I know he’s aggy because Fowler has mentioned it about a million times.

I had no idea he was aggy.  I was surprised sasha couldn't figure out his serve in the ad court. His toss was a huge tell.

Coco Gauff became just the third woman in the Open era to lose in the first round at Wimbledon right after winning the championship at the French Open, eliminated 7-6 (3), 6-1 by unseeded Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine on Tuesday night.

The No. 2-ranked Gauff made mistake after mistake at No. 1 Court, finishing with just six winners and a total of 29 unforced errors that included nine double-faults.

"Dayana started off playing strong," Gauff said. "I couldn't find my footing out there today."

Gauff joined another highly seeded American, No. 3 Jessica Pegula, in bowing out on Day 2 of the tournament. It marked the first women's major in the Open Era in which two of the top three seeds lost their opening matches, according to ESPN Research.

His game reminds me of another Frenchman from back in the day, Fabrice Santoro.

These 2 diminutive players both share a crafty, scrappy, and unorthodox game style and are fun to watch.

Sofia out.

Seeds continue to drop like flies.

#4 Jack Draper, with a great game for grass, won one whole match before bowing out.

#13 Tommy Paul won the first set 6-1 and then lost 5-7, 4-6, 5-7.

#21 Tomas Machac was given his marching papers in an absolutely insane match that was only one game shorter than the current maximum and actually featured TWO 10 point tiebreakers.

#25 Felix Auger-Aliassime was told au revoir today.

But that was on the Men’s side. Kenin was the only female seed to lose today.
