Register a copyright in it now, before you start circulating it. copyright.gov

Then your looney copyright infringement case when someone comes out with something similar will be a tad stronger and possibly more appealing to attorneys.

I do have a friend who was a good high school football player, went to Texas and produces low-budget, Indy stuff in Hollywood. He’s a good guy and would probably help with advice especially if you mention my name and UT. 
 

Also, Lawrence Gordon is a family friend, but probably too old and too hard to get through to even with connections.

Quick googling seems to suggest with no previous track record, it’s probably better to pitch the screenplay to a producer to have them get on board with the project and have them buy the rights. Thoughts?
