I see the mavs promos on wfaa or whatever channel promotes the mavs, and they have flagg as the spokesperson. Zero charisma. It’s like “come watch the mavs” as I snarl at you. They’re forcing him to do something he obviously hates.

Luka on the other hand was natural in that role.

Eat shit, nico.

this is great.  AD will be back for a month.  we will win some games, ruin our draft slot, and then he'll be in street clothes again.

What a random win, lol.

Good for AD to show value...need a couple weeks of this to really get something good for him.

We got 2 rookies worth hyping it up it seems.

And unlike other bad teams, this team is fun to watch, and plays close games...they just lose them.

"Ethically Tanking" I'm here for it.

Hopefully we trade him for whatever we can get first.
oh, and we should keep Ryan. Goodbye and good luck, Dante Exum.

This team is easy to love. They play HARD. I just wish I could enjoy it without being reminded of what could have been and what was supposed to be.
Fucking Nico.

Ryan Nembhard is a really good fit on this team. Dumb luck to get a guy like that on a two way, but I’ll take it. That boy cold.

We got another Luka/Brunson and/or Dirk/Nash situation here maybe...

Will we fuck it up again?

Also, Cooper is fucking clutch as hell.  and he's getting over 20 a night now WITHOUT a 3 ball at all...dude may be even better than we think when adding his elite defense.

Outside of Texas games I don't watch much NCAA BB.  But I watched probably half of Flagg's games last year just because I loved how he played.  This time last year you tell me Coop's a Maverick I would have thought I won Christmas for the next ten years.  But I've only watched maybe three games so far this season because I still can't get over Luka. Thanks for taking the joy away Nico you clown.

Manix and Russillo had some good minutes talking about y'all yesterday.

I don't like the idea of trying to compete this year at all.  What's the best case scenario, make play in and get dismantled by OKC.

Trade Klay AD Gafford. Don't fuck around with this. You have this chance to reset your next 5 years. Get off contracts, get young players and picks.  Don't fuck it up.  ......they'll fuck it up.

I agree. You have your own pick in a great draft. Imagine Flagg playing off Dybansta.

I know it's hard, but they're fun to watch right now...even in losses. And the guys like Flagg, Nembhard, Christie, even PJ, who'll be here for a while, are worth it.

Oh I agree...i'm hoping the gut all the old guys by the trade deadline.  Russell too.   heck I'm okay with getting something for Lively now too...he's tall injured guy now, and they never stay healthy.  Not long term at least.

Agree.  And ain't nobody beating OKC anytime soon anyway.

Yep...the issue is that even if they trade AD/Klay/Russ(if anyone would bite)/Gafford and whoever...they're still talented enough to win 25 or more games.

Unless you want them to sit Cooper...which makes them watchable and he needs the experience.

Cooper/PJ/Nemhard/BWill/Christie is a good young core honestly...they don't need a full tear down rebuild. Just hit this draft well and get what you can get for the vets.

That’s why getting first round picks in return is so important. Goddamn Nico left the cupboard bare

I don’t recall Luka ever enjoying any media bullshit. I do suspect he is much better at it at 26 than 18.

Lively grew two inches this off-season. I wonder if that has anything to do with his issues.

as someone who has done this, yes I'd be willing to bet on it. Broke my tibia and the doc said bone density was basically nonexistent due to how quickly I grew.

I still haven't had the courage to watch games live, but I did watch the highlights of Flagg dropping 42 points last night. Youngest ever to get 40 in a game.

extremely frustrating every game but there are moments enough to keep me watching. Last night was a perfect example. Up by 10 inside of 5 left and we let them go on a run because we are all (coaches included it seemed) trying to let Coop get to 40. He was worn out and trying to do too much. It's clear he plays his best when he doesn't have to be the #1 option the entire game like he was last night.

I wonder if training staff incompetence had anything to do with his issues.

facts. We all know Casey Smith woulda had D Live posting double doubles all year. Sadly his ceiling is coming down hard because he just needs more time on court which he hasn't had in what feels like forever. He's got the potential to be a nuisance for Wemby entire career if we can keep him healthy.

Way to blow an 18 point lead. Kidd shit the bed closing out the 3rd with a bunch of clown who had no desire to play tonight.

I was at the AAC tonight. A few notes:

We have to get rid of Klay. He is completely washed and nearly sold. Meaningful minutes to Klay is crazy and his turnovers, stupid fouls, and not being able to hit the broadside of a barn in the 3rd quarter nearly lost the game.

AD had like 2 points it felt like going into the 4th but ended with a solid double double. He had a respectable game which I was impressed/surprised with.

Cooper is great but he needs to learn how to shoot the 3. Or if he already knows how to shoot the 3 @ 40% clip, he needs to fire away more. This team as it is constructed has no 3pt shooters once Max Christie goes cold and starts hitting the side of the backboard and airballing short.

Watching Detroit, who should have won if they didn't have the worst shooting night of their season, shows you how far away this team really still is. Guys like B-Will, Nembhard, and Klay getting meaningful minutes is crazy work.

If we get Kyrie back, with Cooper Flagg, a healthy AD and can trade for LaMelo I think is a name I keep hearing, that's tuff with some of the role players and deeper bench pieces. Get rid of Lively and Klay for whatever you can get.

It was Anime night sponsored by Crunchyroll. Oy vey, what a whiff. This won't be ran back for next year. Literally zero interest and participation from the fans on any of the anime related bits. The camera panning for costumes/cosplay during the "Anime cosplay cam" session and finding nobody was especially cringe. Also a surprising amount of Detroit fans. Like 20% or so.

Also Cunningham having an off night shooting and still nearly getting a triple double. To the eyeball test he was easily the best basketball player on the floor last night and is fun to watch. One of the guys in the NBA it's hard to not like and to not like his game.

Truth. He's smooth as butter and doesn't force anything. He's a lot better than I thought he'd be at this stage and part of the season, because I'm kind of a hater and act like I'm from Missouri-- you gotta show me when it comes to hype.

Yep, agreed. That said, I get it now. I wasn’t kidding that he honestly reminds me of Julius Irving- a prototypical ABA SF. He’s a rangy, ferocious attacker and on-ball defender*  who performs best in motion, who doesn’t shoot particularly well but winds up with relatively high career FG% because of what he can do attacking the basket.
Two observations:

1) Asking Flagg to shoot threes is a waste of his talent and a wasted shot. Maybe he can develop but why bother when he can do his best work elsewhere?
2) We need to enjoy him while he lasts and they need to build around him soon. His style of play is going to limit his shelf life a bit and he’s likely going to peak early.

* Flagg gets credit but Dr J was underrated defensively despite making a couple of all NBA defense lists and blocking 2 shots a game

What was frustrating in that 3rd was how much more aggressive and quicker to the ball the pistons were. They got every 50/50 ball, a ton of offensive boards, full court pressure defense. On bench wanted no part of that….. and yeah, Klay was awful.

The offensive rebounds stat was attrocious. They doubled us up with 26 to our 11 and the lionshare of that was proably 3rd quarter.
