The spread is down to -9.5 which makes very little sense to me. I was expecting -14.

I hope you are right but we have defeated 1 P4 team by 14+ and Arkansas has only lost 1 game by more than 10.

I didn't say we're gonna cover, I was just surprised at where it's currently sitting. Sandwiched between Georgia and Aggy, and with potentially things going on behind the scenes, I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 foot pole.

I just meant I hope you are right and the line should have been -14.

Sometimes I think you guys don't actually watch the football games. "we were only losing by a needed touchdown late in a game where we couldn't score TOUCHDOWNS!" The game wasn't "close" except for 6 minutes of gametime and even during that 6 minutes it wasn't actually close, they had the one 4th down opportunity that they blew and the 4th and 5 offsides that was looking pretty shitty anyway even without the free play he just threw it because he could, but that was broken from the get go and there were 3 dudes schemed open by the first down marker and a ton of space for stockton to have run for it.

Revisionist history is a lot easier if you say "well they could have made either of those 4th down stops and it would have been close", but they fucking didn't and it wasn't close - they answered Texas getting within 4 with a fucking bitch slap and a grinder of a drive to go up 11.

Yep.   There was never a point in this game where I thought we were going to win this game.   Not even our opening drive although we scored, it still had the feel we were going to go through some of the same motions with the undisciplined stuff.  I’ll give the defense their due for making several stops and stopping the bleeding until they couldn’t stop it.

The difference in every other game and this one with the Undisciplined shit and drops and critical mental errors on offense and eventually all over the field is you get none if those against Georgia. They aren't gonna have those.

This late in the season there is no excuse for having a game like this after your second bye with no injuries and everyone healthy.

The issue is coming off of that and asking the team to correct course against Arkansas is futile. You are playing to preserve whatever respect you have for yourself left? Cuz it damn sure isn't to get into the playoff or SECCCG. You wanna embarass a shitty team at home? I'd be totally fine with that if they wanted to come out talking shit and try to back it up. That would be at least fun and hype. These guys are so culture fucked by their delusional head coach that they won't. This works when you are winning and they only need to care about taking care of business each week to accomplish something. That's over.

Let these guys have fun. The gameplan should be have fun and backyard ball all over these piggy fucks.

Even if you have nothing to play for, you should still be working on things that will be beneficial for the future.

You can't just be who you want/need to be some of the time if you ever wanna be that person consistently.

These guys need to learn how to play fast and free with discipline. Not just go out there and try to wing it.

So much could be said here… but Players play.

Play because you have pride, whether that be in your self, your school, your damn teammates, or the money you are now being paid.

While it might not make much sense to fans, the players can stop doing dumb shit and work to put together a complete game(s) whenever they fucking decide, especially against a team like Arkansas. Even if “there is nothing to lay for.”

This isn’t fucking Hoosiers or some shit, dropping passes, all Americans jumping off sides, busting coverages not knowing the sticks on critical downs, are dumb player mistakes. Gene Hackman and some gassers aren’t nor never were going to fix this shit.

Players play and y’all some ho’s.

Guess we'll find out this week how mentally tough the team is, and if they can rally to beat Arkansas.  On paper, this should be a favorable matchup for us.  Would like to see the defense actually look coordinated this week.  Getting into a hole early because of busted coverages, or playing the DB's fifty miles away in zone while sending blitzes would not be ideal.

I don't have a huge amount of hope for the offense at this point.  If outside zone works, or if Manning can play hero ball it might be enough.  Assuming Arkansas's offense is not moving through us like a Norvovirus contaminated meal.

Our players did not in fact play this last Saturday. They got blown out so bad that the de-facto defensive team leader couldn't even wrap his head around Georgia being good, because he was still stuck on how bad Texas fucked Texas.

Georgia is very good, and there is no margin of error for Texas to fuck Texas like it did on Saturday, but Georgia didnt do much to step all over its own dick. The ant hill INT was fucking crazy.

So yeah, they need to learn to play for the sake of playing, not for anything else, but because they want to be the best individually. No one gives a shit if you feel good that you played to your commensurate compensation. I want these guys to play and every time they touch the ball or are involved in a play they are giving maximum effort with minimum mental error.

I'm not saying they are gonna phone it in, but I am saying that motivation is a real thing and we haven't seen them get motivated for the likes of Georgia, how tf do you get motivated for Arkansas?

They were motivated for Ohio State and OU. They looked motivated against Vandy too, but obviously lost their edge as the game progressed.

It’s clearly a coaching leadership issue, but the team leadership is ineffective as well.

They lost their edge after UGA converted back-to-back 4th downs and then the surprise onside.  It's called a fucking knockout blow and it happens to a team every damn week.   UGA was better than us regardless and likely pulls out 7-10 point win even if we stop one of the 4th downs, but momentum shifts in sports are a real thing and i would have thought everyone on this board would have seen enough of that by now.

Again, look at Aggy last week.  USC could do no wrong and A&M couldn't stop fucking up until halftime allowed them to reset.  Then they gained momentum and did the same thing to SC.    If we all wanted to spend the time on it we could come up with a list of games we've seen Texas do the same thing that UGA did to us and point to a few plays that realistically ended up causing a 2-3 TD swing.

Texas may be without two of its best players on Saturday for the game against Arkansas.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said yesterday that both linebacker Anthony Hill and receiver Ryan Wingo are being evaluated for hand injuries.

Both were still being evaluated as of Sark’s press conference yesterday.

**

Arkansas was trying to hire former Penn State coach James Franklin to replace Sam Pittman. But Franklin chose Virginia Tech instead.

In the new world of college football, Franklin chose the job he felt like could be a more winnable long-term situation.

There may be no more tougher positioned job in Power 4 college football right now than Arkansas.

Think about it.

The Razorbacks, for their recruiting efforts in the state of Texas, are surrounded by Texas, Texas A&M, and a resurgent SMU in DFW. Then there’s OU due west, LSU to the south, Ole Miss in the Memphis area, and even further east there’s Tennessee and a Vanderbilt team that is no longer the pushover they once were. Heck, even Missouri is an adjacent state that gives the Razorbacks recruiting issues in the Ozarks and St. Louis.

So where are they supposed to make hay in recruiting?

The state of Arkansas itself only produces 5-7 high level prospects each year, many of whom are cherry picked by out of state schools. In fact, the top five players from the state of Arkansas for the class of 2026 have all committed elsewhere, from Miami to Ole Miss, etc.

On top of that, the Razorbacks are playing in the toughest conference in the country.

Arkansas is a tough job. So tough that a coach chose Virginia Tech over them.

**

While Arkansas is 2-8 on the year and 0-6 in conference play, it bears mentioning that all but one conference game was a 1-score loss.

Conference losses this season:

Ole Miss 41-35

Tennessee 34-31

A&M 45-42

Mississippi State 38-35

LSU 23-22

The Hogs have just two SEC games left. This one against Texas and then they close with Missouri.

Bobby Petrino has done a good job of keeping Arkansas competitive despite the coaching turnover.

I would expect nothing less than a competitive game from the Razorbacks this weekend.

**

I mentioned on the board that Texas expected some positive recruiting news yesterday. That news is still expected to come, the timeline just became a little murkier is all.
