  1. Past hour
  2. TLDR; Shit ain’t changing.
  3. It's taken me a while, but I've finally caught up with both this and the other thread. Someone, maybe in the other, watched a detailed analysis of the shooting (zoomed in) conducted by some kind of expert. I didn't watch it because I couldn't watch it from a queasy stomach standpoint, so I'll have to take that poster's word for it. Anyway, that poster is absolutely convinced Kirk was wearing titanium armor plating, which the bullet struck the edge of, ricocheted up into, and out of his neck. This brings up two obvious questions: 1) Why was he wearing armor? and 2) When did he start wearing armor? Yes, he (rightly) felt a threat. Had he been attacked before? Had he been receiving threats? From whom? We certainly know by now about the Groyper Wars. Did one of them ever physically threaten him before? Did Kirk's use of body armor coincide with those "wars?" Was he ever consistently harassed by other groups or individuals? If so, by whom? Has there been any other reporting on this? Well, shit, I had a lot more than just two questions.
  4. To be fair, I said we shouldn't have a rebuilding year. We've had rebuilding decades due to bad coaching hires.
  5. My favorite part was Sark saying he is smarting than analytics. The broken things aren’t getting fixed this season imo.
  6. @Horn of Gabriel is saying it shouldn't happen NOW with NIL and the no-penalty transfer portal. Big difference versus even 5 years ago
  7. I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, I'm just trying to stay optimistic and Sark has found a way to get us to the CFB two years in a row. I'm just pointing out that it's early, and I don't expect us to score 25+ a game, we just need to hold our opponents to less than 15, which is do-able. At some point our running game will be able to get us points, and Arch will, miraculously get at lease 1-2 TD's a game, whether that be with his legs or throw, or both, even if he trips and it lands in the hands of DJ Campbell. But, like I said, I am very, very skeptical of our o-line. I don't know what the fuck Flood has been doing, but he needs to go. Anyone in their right mind who starts Stroh might as well be Herb Hand at this point. There is absolutely zero chance Neto is worse. Zilch. Normally I'm a poster who flips the fuck out, so I'm trying my best to stay positive and not act like I'm taking an entire bottle of Adderrall and throw shit at kids riding by my house on their scooters. I should actually do that, tho. It may give me joy for at least an hour.
  8. Yes it’s been idiotic forever. We are being told that the CFP has corrected it. I maintain that it has not. I am losing interest (ha, I’m posting on another schools message board) so I assume others are as well. Perhaps new consumers are outpacing us old timers and the ratings won’t falter. I know that I personally am not enjoying CFB like I used.
  9. this i know imma is hacked because he has a lot of money invested in the business of this team and every nil sponsor, cigar/donor, hell disney look like fools for the fellation leading up to the season a lot of people with a lot of money on the table are po'ed but if you put all that aside, everything he said is basically true new mantra: RUN THE DAMN BALL
  10. Delightfully on brand, thank you. Truly a bright spot in an otherwise dark thread.
  11. I have a friend whose parents are the neighbors of the Owens' in Cypress (a fine family and people the Owens', btw, generally speaking). Owens is and has always been effortlessly strong and big and fast. So for him to be completely out of the conversation means he's a 3 star in a 5 star stud's body? The inverse of Lacey.
  12. Are you familiar with the history of this program over, say, the past 50 years?
  13. He's always been this way. Playcalling against TCU in 2022 felt punitive. I think Sark is a good dude but I also think he has an angry streak and I think it is most manifest when the team is failing to execute the layups he's feeding them. Maybe I'm just another fucking idiot on this board, but playcalling does not seem like the issue to me. At all. Some plays get called because they're setting up later plays, not because they're necessarily going to succeed on that down. Sark does that a lot and always has. But what Sark does on offense only works if it's executed. If the players don't execute the play that is supposed to be the payoff for all that set up, then it doesn't mean dick and the whole thing falls apart. If you don't like that style of offense - which, for the record, is not an unreasonable position - then the only fix is a different playcaller or an entirely new OC. You're not talking about changes to game management, you're talking about a wholesale revision to the offensive philosophy. Stroh needs to be gone. Drop Conner Roberson in at C and move Hutson to LG. Or anything that gets that guy off the field. I cannot believe how "cute" Sark is being about that guy's level of play. He should be irate and Flood should be working to save his job.
  14. "Hell, you can’t do any worse. Get in there" is what Sark will / should say to Matt Caldwell around the 2nd Quarter against Florida. Then he needs to call Deion to get his advice on how early is too early to retire a player's number because Caldwell's ~60% completion rate and somewhat timely throws will look like the great thing a Texas QB has ever done.
  15. What one sees upon opening multiple threads on surly right now ...
  16. Agree with most of this, but Arch has been here 3 years competing against CFB playoff caliber athletes. What he did in high school is irrelevant now. We need the QB who lit up Miss St last year to make an appearance ASAP.
  17. Are you referring to Governor Greg "Wheels" Abbot?
  18. My only real complaint from a portal perspective is potentially WR and that's a bit hard to judge given injuries. But maybe should have pushed for a guy like Barrion Brown and Aggy seemed to clean up really well at receiver also. We haven't seen Mosley and Moore is hurt so maybe that won't look like a mistake a few games from now if we get healthy. I think it's really difficult to find starting level OL in the portal and even if you did there are downstream effects to your pipeline. I don't think our OL is a "portal issue". We were always going to take a step backwards this year losing so many starters, but if this crew can't improve by the time conference play starts, then safe to question prior evaluations and development of that position. Otherwise, we seemed to manage the portal extremely well at DL and Kicker/Punter to fill those holes. It's pretty obvious the biggest issue is this team is the QB position and I'm fairly certain nobody saw that coming and not sure how you manage/prep for a Manning to mentally lose it over a couple of starts. Sark is saying all the right things in the press conference. Hopefully some of that positivity works on Manning. Maybe all he needs is to hit a few in a row and he'll snap out of it.
  19. he volunteered we had to run arch more and that is now part of our offense rpo is fine by me just move the fucking ball down the field and score i'm sure everyone has seen "SEC Storied: Wishbone" 1985 switzer had installed i-formation for aikman game 4 miami broke his ankle and 0u switched back to the wishbone w/ jamelle holieway 0u lost the game but won the next 8 and the title 0u passing yards those 8 games: isu: 101 ku: 101 mizzou: 157 colorado: 39 corn: 38 oSu: 54 smu: 40 pedder: 91
  20. According to PFF there are 838 offensive linemen in college football who have played at least 25 run blocking snaps. Connor Stroh ranks 810th in run blocking grade. I've been actively watching Texas football for 23 years since my freshman year of college. He's the worst run blocking offensive lineman I've seen at Texas.
  21. Anyone without Larry Legend in his prime on their team needs their head checked. Stone cold killer. Plus, his trash talk against a bunch of aliens would be epic.
