  1. Past hour
  2. Sunday - Well Past Time By Bobby Burton Part of me remains in shock this morning, surprised by the QB play we all witnessed Saturday afternoon. I did not see it coming, not this level of struggle. It reached a level of complete ineptness. There were 10 straight incompletions, some that were true misfires, others that were ill-timed, rushed and three or four yards off the mark, one where he didn’t see what should have been his very first read for a first down on a fourth-down play in the red zone and another fourth down play to a wide open Parker Livingston downfield. The performance left me with so many questions Is Sark not helping him out enough with play-calling? Are the offensive line and the run game too inconsistent? Is Arch being his own worst enemy and getting down on himself after a bad play instead of forgetting about it and moving to the next one? Is his current level of confidence that fragile instead of growing? Is Arch just this naturally inconsistent? Is the offense as a whole and its players - with eight new starters - too inconsistent? Or, are the weapons around him just not all that good? After all, Texas was missing its top two RBs and two of its top four WRs. Three games into the 2025 season, the list above includes far too many questions. And way too few, if any, answers. ** Texas can survive certain shortcomings at the QB position. Errant throws, happy feet, too few weapons, those are things that almost every QB deals with. Texas has a defense that can win and win big in support of a less-than-ideal offense. But the sheer lack of self-confidence - or at least the display of it - is probably the most surprising riddle to me of the current Texas quarterback situation. That lack of confidence compounds itself and causes entire dysfunction on offense. We’re three games into the year and I still couldn’t tell you what the identity of this Texas offense is or should be. How does a team overcome a player - the team leader of the offense - who is clearly struggling mentally? The answer is surprisingly simple. All Arch Manning and the Longhorns can do from here is get back to work. That’s the grind of the college football season. ** Arch made some good throws in the second half. The touchdown to Ryan Wingo and the dig route over the middle to Wingo were authoritative and well-delivered. But Texas needs that level of play on a consistent level. ** On defense, there are some small issues that could develop into bigger ones down the road. Jaylon Guilbeau is getting picked on quite a bit. Guilbeau gave up a big catch and run and was beat deep another time and was called for pass interference. But the defense was clearly dominant overall. Again, this Texas defense can take the team far. ** Add James Simon as a possible solution at running back if the injury to Cedric Baxter is a prolonged one. Simon looked significantly better than both Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark to me. Yet Texas opted to take Simon out of the game in most passing situations. That tells me the freshman may not be quite ready for pass protection duties. But it looks to me his timeline needs to be sped up in that regard. ** We’ve said all along these three non-conference games in the month of September were opportunities to work out the kinks. Well, it’s well past time that that starts to happen. There needs to be a sense of urgency. Again, all Texas can do is get back to work. Hook’Em!
  3. what's so frustrating is that it doesn't fucking need to be. we have a veteran qb on the roster to can complete 5-15 yard passes to wide open receivers and seems to be not a statue. let him play conservative and allow the defense to win games
  4. Sanders family conveniently left out this nugget when bitching and moaning about Shadeur's draft fall. How many other teams got this call?

True but it’s going to take losses for that to happen.
  6. gah brain fart on my part mis-identifying the target But that play just underscores the problem right now: There's not even a read here for him. It's a designed play to go to Livingstone. If he's open, throw it. He's open, THROW THE DAMN BALL. It's real fucked that the *best* case scenario is that Arch is terrified of making mistakes because the other option is that he literally has no idea how to play the position. Nevertheless, right now he's a serious negative and this is an 8-4 season at best the way he's playing.
  7. That first playoff loss to Washington was tough, but the second one was brutal.
  8. Put Rio on to run at Walker. Gakpo hasn’t done much today.
  9. Every other Sunday of the year, "Notre Dame is overrated trash," said Aggy fan. Today, "Notre Dame is the greatest team in the history of this Earth."
  10. Sawbonz

Yeah we will see. At some point they are going to get frustrated.
  11. Saw the Castellows at Antone's last night. Their first stop on their new tour. Amazing energy, Lily has learned how to perform.
  12. Sark is not a sunshine pumper. He's a fiery guy. He's not going to publicly throw his QB under the bus in a harsh way. On top of that, Arch has shown himself to be mentally weak so far. The swagger he showed in spots last year has completely gone away and it is infecting the rest of the team. No one on the team plays with confidence because he looks fucking lost half of the time. I'm not even seeing players try to fire him up, almost like he's untouchable.
  13. The guardian piece was no different than abc news being told the Korean pilot was named wi too low and airing that. It reeked from the beginning.
  14. Caldwell has gotta get more snaps this week. We can't count on Arch mentally un-fucking himself at this point. Florida isn't a great team, but The Swamp is not an easy place for visiting teams. They'll be amped up for UT's first visit as an SEC member. We'll get their best effort.
  15. ^^^ heck, i knew back then when SARK and his TEXAS program lost consecutive playoff games to the WASHINGTON HUSKIES with a roster loaded with (4 & 5*) blue-chip players, i knew that SARK would NEVER get TEXAS an MNC. IMV, the only reason that he won that MNC with alabama is because NICK SABAN was the head coach. ( and NICK SABAN had the smarts to include an offensive coordinator on his championship staff). however, SARK refuses to acquire an offensive coordinator because he is shockingly arrogant and thinks that he is the smartest man in the room. this whole situation just REEKS and makes me SICK to my STOMACH, because SARK has agreed to an extension that will last quite a few years moving forward. TEXAS has made this coach a VERY RICH MAN and what does TEXAS currently have to show for it? (a packed house DKR stadium, loaded with BOOOOOOOOOING fans) directly on the SEC NETWORK. i spent a TON of money traveling to OHIO with a TON of family and pals (59 people in all), and we were all SHOCKED that TEXAS lost that game when we had so many opportunities to win it outright. it felt like the team was playing through some south american quicksand. (I'M STILL PISSED-OFF AT THIS) basically everyone on the globe witnessed this very important game, and of course, TEXAS lost! i don't know if i have EVER witnessed a head coach that loses consecutive football games to the same team like SNAKE OIL SARK. the humiliation just never ceases. LONGHORN NATON definitely deserves better... HOOK'EM!
  16. They were in the CFB finals LAST year. They not only lost a bunch of players on both sides of the ball but also got skull fucked by the refs last night. If aggy beat them last year that sure would have been something to get excited about. aggy comes to Austin this year battling for a bowl bid: Auburn - L, bigly MS State - L Florida - L Pig - W, close LSU - blowout L Mizz - L South Carolina - L Samford (lol) - W That puts them at 5-6 and we get to stab them in the heart to finish the year.
  17. Two underwhelming (as compared to potential and original hype) QBs in a row. At some point, coaching has to be tossed into the conversation as a mainstream narrative and then we’re really fucked. At that point, what QB with real potential is going to want to come play in this shit show? If Manning doesn’t get his shit together, Sark needs to make a change and see if the problem is primarily with Arch, or not. That’s the only way to salvage this.
  18. Wirtz needs to be less sloppy with his balls in.
  19. I think it is to the point he no longer trust his abilities either. But it’s odd he was scared to make that throw to Livingstone but then throws that ball across his body for the interception. He is mentally fucked, all we can hope for is the staff/Mannings can get him right during the bye week at this point.
  20. Yeah that makes much more sense now. And during the SJSU game when Caldwell was out there smiling and pushing down the field, they panned to a shot of Arch on the sideline and he didn't look happy he was out there. On top of all the pressure Arch has, knowing that guy was probably brought in as insurance for you, isn't going to help with his mental stability.
  21. No fucking chance that happens as of now. As it stands, Texas will be lucky to win 8 games.
  22. Agreed I said the same thing watching it at game speed. Miscommunication. I guess Arch expected him to stop.
  23. I forgot how much I hated Kyle Walker.
