Man, big miss on my part for not mentioning Kau Ba. It's like three blocks from my house. How's Dinette? Haven't tried it yet, but it's on my list.

New to Houston, still in transition but am looking in the area. Might be a future neighbor to you putos. Dinette is great. Hanoi eggrolls with the lettuce herbs and pickled veg are dynamite. Wagyu skewers with betel leaf served on rice noodles with fish sauce out of this world. Tamarind sticky wings are awesome. Pretty good fried rice.  Haven't tried Xin Chao yet, but will sometime soon.

now I’m curious

fave dish ?

The eggrolls for sure.  Fried eggrolls that are gluten free is something I haven't had in like 12 years.  The rest of the menu looks great but I just keep ordering the eggrolls. The wagyu skewers are incredibly good though---highly recommend.

Try Musaafer if it hasn’t already been mentioned. I am sure it has but the Houston thread on food and travel doesn’t get a whole lot of action and my apologies if already covered. Food from all 29 states in India but the executive chef is incredible. You go through pretty intense training to be on the staff (3 weeks) to work there. Such elevated food. The presentation is insane.
Some pictures. I would love to see their chef compete on Top Chef…

That stuff looks pretty -- cannot imagine wanting to eat any of it!

One of the best restaurants in Houston if you can get past that it's in a mall.

Wife's birthday is tomorrow but wants to do a birthday brunch with our 2 sons, 10 and 4...any recommendations on newer, nice-ish places around town that would fit the bill? We're in the GOOF area so not limited to going anywhere - mexican food is probably out since we're mexican and that's just food for us

Went to Étoile tonight for the first time. The duck was incredible. Brasserie 19 is dog shit in comparison as far as French food goes, although maybe people just go there for the scenery.
