  1. BTW, all of those are just cellphone shots. I did take a shit load this morning of Mormon Row and the Tetons with me real camera but I don't have my laptop to really look at them.
  2. I take extreme offense at being called the Derka of anything. For the record I have always been in favor of smoking bans.
  3. Last one before we head out. Jenny Lake.
  4. Sunrise on the Tetons and then a meadow shot.
  5. Thought I'd taunt you guys even though I don't drink anymore. Spent the past 4 days in Gardiner, MT (north entrance to Yellowstone.) Local grocery store was bonkers. Prices were ok/high but the selection was incredible and the stuff they had in the glass case was fairly rare.
  6. Upper Mesa Falls, ID yesterday afternoon...
  7. He strenuously objects.
  8. He was in a really underrated movie with a pretty great ensemble cast (Bill Paxton, Diane Lane, Elizabeth Perkins, Kevin Pollak, etc.) called Indian Summer. Great flick.
  9. I really honestly think that we might have been better off if a Senator or Rep had gotten caught by the rioters. Not killed but beaten up. Sure, the Q crowd would crow that it was Antifa but there surely would have been some impact on a few others.
  10. Two nights to get from Austin to (anywhere in) Colorado? Austin to Lubbock is a 6 hour drive. Lubbock to Pueblo is 6.5 hours. I'm not saying you have to drive all the way to Pueblo on day one but it's not a three day drive. We do Houston to Breckenridge in two with a stop in Amarillo. Residence Inn (Marriott) is your friend. You should be able to get a 1 bedroom suite (king bed in the bedroom with a pull out in the living room) or a 2 bedroom suite also with the pull out in either Lubbock or Amarillo for 160-200 a night.
  11. He might be wrong on some stuff but the AirBnB issue is part of the general housing price spike. Commercial investors jumped into the market and bought up a bunch of inventory with cash bids. Companies like Homevesters (which has it's own corporate problems) bought up lower end properties. The general "flipping" mentality that took hold 10-12 years ago brought this on. If you look at that list, more than half of them are vacation type areas. It's no surprise to see properties in these areas struggling. Gerli might be a tool but the housing market has some real issues.
  12. If you're going out to Multnomah Falls, it would be best to go early and on a week day. Weekends are a mess. There is limited parking. But.... Like Butch said, go on out to Hood River. The drive along the Columbia is pretty impressive.
  13. Bumping this. I have an old dog eared Yellowstone travel guide from our 2010 trip along with several hard copies of maps. We'll do the normal stuff like Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic (but from the Fairy Falls trail overlook), Upper and Lower Falls. What I am curious about is anything that might be outside the general park that would be interesting. 95% of our 2010 trip was spent at the main highlights. LTBear gave me good tips some of the wildlife spotting areas. One thing in particular I was curious about was Cave Falls and Bechler Falls on the far SW side of the park. Obviously, these two are very different because of their width rather than height. But it looks like a good day trip without lots of people. Personally I woud love to go even farther on to Dunanda Falls but my group won't be interested due to the distance.
  14. I have only read Monk's book. It was such an interesting insight into the band.
  15. [Helobius] Who cares? She's a has been. No one listens to her anymore and she's irrelevant in today's music scene.[\Helobius]
  16. I should have preferenced my comments on Zeihan as rhetorical. I do not think we hit the bridge. It was not worth the possible issues with escalation and if we had, it would be out of commission. I do not think Zeihan is the end all be all of commentary but he's one of the voices I listen to for a viewpoint. He really, really beats the demographics drum hard and also about how few people in Russia would be capable of replacing Putin/his cronies.
  17. That's entirely too nuanced. Both for Trump to be make and for his followers to even remotely understand.
  18. I was watching some of Zeihan's videos and on one of them about the Ukrainian offensive he talks about the attack on the Kerch Strait bridge. He outright speculates that we might have done it. Did I miss something? We wouldn't have seriously done that, right?
