  1. Craigslist. Both Houston and Austin are showing dozens.
  2. You might at least have mentioned he played basketball for The University of Texas. It's sorta relevant for this board anyway.
  3. Username...yada yada yada
  4. If you're older than dirt and have a couple of days to kill, check out THIS THREAD on Houston Architectural Forum. The thread was started over a decade ago, but since it's about long-gone places, it's all still relevant.
  5. Pleez tell me someone can make a gif of Harris freezing the runner on the pickoff. That's a classic deer-in-headlights move.
  6. And apparently, that's all there is to it. I guess they can shut down CERN now.
  7. I loved Monterrey House back in the day. It was one of the few places we would go out to in the mid to late '60s. We would hit the one on Airline just west of I45 in Houston and then hit up the Airline Drive-In. I remember seeing True Grit there after it came out in 1969. I still occasionally get that cajeta candy at my local carneceria once in a while. We also used to eat at a little cafe on Shepherd just north of the Sears in the Garden Oaks area. It was the first place I ever had 1000 Island Dressing; (weird I remember that). There was an associated higher end restaurant behind it that we NEVER ate at. Anyone have any idea what that might have been?
  8. Use your nose. It knows. But when in doubt, throw it out.
  9. Pete's Fine Meats in Houston. I started going there for steaks and on Saturday, handmade tamales back in the '80s when they were at Briar Forest and Wilcrest. We used them twice in the last year for fresh turkeys. They can order just about anything.
  10. I remember both Yamin's and Strawberry Patch. You're old. Like me.

Mine is variant "C", the bartender's POV. LINK
  12. Herdez Chipotle Salsa. Also a good marinade for wings.
  13. Apparently Chili's talk is not going away. I started eating at the Westheimer Carillon Chili's immediately after college in '82. We officed around the corner and probably ate there at least twice a week. Yep, the tacos were great, the burgers were great (and they would serve them rare). Aside from the OTC and Chili's Trip, they had what they called an Alpine Burger with Mushrooms, Swiss and Avocado. And really really cold mugs. I went back to one last year for the first time in twenty and it was not the same. <sigh>

Bon Ga down the street is also good.
  15. Isn't that thetruth?
  16. The woman in the video took the incident as a wake-up call and completely turned her life around. She entered a convent and became a nun taking vows of humility, poverty, silence and chastity. (Yeah right.)
  17. No shit? That was YOU?
  18. ...and of course the ever popular "Boop".
  19. Ha! I actually noticed Mars chasing the moon last night when I was walking the dog. I didn't know the whole gang was there.
  20. He clearly didn't deserve her anyway. No harm - no foul.
  21. New feature in Chinese building. Video at the link. LINK
