  1. Thanks for reminding me why I go to Javier's cigar bar at least 6 times a year and have never gone to Monarch!
  2. I'm old enough to remember what happened in the 1980s. I can see all of this boom dropping like a cow turd from a very tall cow. I hope that I am wrong. I wonder whether the stuff going down last week with the PSW guys is a bellwether. You need to have deal flow going on to support that kind of operation. Not saying ponzi scheme, but you have got to question how their investor's funds relate to specific projects.
  3. IDK if this is anything, but there is gonna come a time when the worm turns on all the Austin real estate Wiz kids. Maybe this is a portent of things to come? Tex Mex

Be prepared to show a passport when the Federales show up in that area. It reminds me of what things looked like back when we used to go across the border to Nuevo Laredo as gringo tourists. Chiclets? Shine your boots? Maybe later? You really need it.
  5. That might just be the point of inflection that would cause you reconsider some of your prior life choices.
  6. The answer is "Yes."
  7. Academy Sports + Outdoors Tuscaloosa Opens at 9:00 AM Wednesday 710 Skyland Boulevard Tuscaloosa, AL 35405 (205) 391-6860
  8. Wrong. "Christmas" is always the correct choice.
  9. I tip my long-time barber around 50% each time I get a haircut and 100% at Christmas. Why? Because she is really good at what she does, is always on schedule, and doesn't waste my time. Plus, she's fun to talk to and attractive, so she's got that going for her, which is nice.
  10. My Texas frat group of 10-12 close friends are all now in our mid 60s. We have all been to each other's weddings, baby christenings, funerals (mostly their parents, thus far!). We have an active text thread where we keep up with each other and give each other shit on a daily basis. We do boy's weekend trips to good party destinations at least annually. People forget that you will be an alumni for much longer than you will be an active. No ragrets about doing the Greek route at Texas. P.S. To get this thread back on track -- I'm quite sure that none of us had a paid consultant to help us get through the rush process!
  11. San Diego FTW. Non-stops from AUS to SAN are around 2:40 minutes on Alaska, LUV, and AA. Tons of good food in SAN.
  12. HR Departments generally screw up everything they touch, IMHO.

That spot was previously Brio's and later Blue Baker in my recollection.
  15. We picked up and dropped off a passenger at the ABIA South Terminal before and after the 4th of July holiday weekend. Amazing how easy that was. Kind of like olden days. Of course, the COA fought/litigated with a client of former Mayor Adler's firm to buy out their (very recently signed) long-term lease and make that terminal part of the overall suckage that ABIA has become. Good times.
  16. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is way underrated. The bride and I came across it while we spent a couple of weeks exploring Colorado before kids. I'd never heard of it before and was impressed. Not as touristy as other places that get more publicity.
  17. The new Georgetown store seems to have reduced the traffic at the Cedar Park store this week. Easier to dash in and get NY Strips and wine and then GTFO. (I am a buyer -- not a shopper!)
  18. Lots of stuff going vertical out that way. Who knew that there would be tons of multi-family and light industrial/office all of the way to Lockhart?
  19. You are doing the Lord's work on this Board! Thanks, buddy.
  20. I hope that you aren't complaining about the rain. True Texans never complain about rain! Maybe inconvenient sometimes, but always welcome.
  21. Matt's did a Section 1031 exchange for the Four Season's dirt on First Street for the South Lamar location and a small ranch on Lake Austin. It's good to own dirt in Austin.
  22. 220, 221 -- whatever it takes to make Bob Cole go away.
  23. Anybody thinking that Mercer could be a starter? He did pretty good at ND before his injury and rehab season -- and he was effective out of the pen when rehabbing this past season.
