  1. Beard hadn't been spending enough time on Surly watching the "Don't Talk to the Police" video that is regularly posted here.
  2. Yes. The matter still seems to be pending in Travis County 147th District Court (criminal court). The next event on the docket is a pre-trial hearing in January. Case number is D-1-DC-22-904030. The wheels of justice grind slowly.
  3. And then, maybe you will consider getting a bigger air compressor!
  4. In person or online -- I've got to hand it to you, you are always very proud of that middle finger.
  5. For sure! That is a big reason why I've been so impressed by how Hunters Creek (North of intersection of US 183 and Hwy 29 near Liberty Hill) does their work. Open window for you to watch while processing and separate tubs for all of your meat. It is a single batch processing operation. You will definitely be getting your own meat. (Phrasing, perhaps?)
  6. All of the kids that we raised out at our deer leases would have known way better than to do that. (Despite the fact that they saw their Dads do lots of stupid shit and they still survived.)
  7. I'm sure those worked great. My dear, long deceased Grandmother, in her declining years, read somewhere that you could use slices of flour tortillas thrown into broth as dumplings. She was deceived!
  8. IDK if anybody uses Bisquick any more, but as a kid, the dumplings were always made with a tight batter of that stuff seasoned with garlic, sage, rosemary and such, dropped into the boiling broth a very large tablespoon at a time. Perfection.
  9. That's rough. @Troph is not wrong about getting yourself to MDA. Give 'em hell!
  10. Fucking sad that she didn't know better than to do that.
  11. The apocryphal story that goes around in Austin business circles is that the IRS challenged the valuation of Academy stock on the estate tax return when the founder died (Gotchman, or something like that). The IRS used a valuation based upon comparables from major retailers rather than from a true Army/Navy Surplus store. That supposedly opened the eyes of the heirs as to how much potential the company had if they moved towards being a more standard retail operation. Goodbye to Academy Surplus and hello to Academy Sports + Outdoors -- 250+ stores and counting.
  12. Happy Birthday, Young Man!
  13. That was obviously some of the inspiration for that classic ride, the Family Truckster!
  14. Good to see that you remembered to bring a rifle!
  15. Thanks. We have all been wondering how that would work at the new digs.
  16. 1974 Pontiac Catalina like this one: Worst car ever. Drank a ton of gas. It was so bad that my Dad just gave it to me my last semester of college. (The Narrator: It wasn't all bad -- sex things happened in that car.) it ended up blowing a valve, so it ran on 7 pistons until I used it as a trade-in for my spanking new 1981 Honda Accord that I bought over the phone after my last UT final exam. Good times.
  17. Insert Ron White gif here: I had the right to remain silent, but not the ability.
  18. I was reading online (not on Surly) that people were outraged that the Bar was open so early in the morning. There are lots of folks in NW Austin, especially tech folks that work hours reflecting the 24 hour time zone of the world. Moreover, that bar has food. Not good food, but bar food. I've indulged in corny dogs and fries for late breakfast, early lunch there (along with a cocktail or two) on more than one occasion.
  19. It was a Golden Time when both Norm and Randy Galloway were on the airwaves.
