  1. I've heard they started last week, but lots of rumors Elon Musk confirms Tesla plan for robotaxis on Austin roads in June Tesla CEO Elon Musk said robotaxis will be on the streets of Austin, Texas, by the end of June. Musk spoke in an interview with CNBC's David Faber. Musk also said he was committed to leading the automaker for the next five years. Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the company will have robotaxis on the streets of Austin, Texas, by the end of June. In an interview with CNBC's David Faber on Tuesday at the company's headquarters in Austin, Musk said Tesla aims to bring its robotaxis to Los Angeles and San Francisco following the planned Austin debut. Musk said a Tesla robotaxi service will start with about 10 vehicles in Austin, and rapidly expand to thousands of vehicles should the launch go well with no incidents. Since 2016, Musk has been promising Tesla investors, customers and fans that the company is about a year away from delivering a self-driving car that's capable of transporting passengers safely without human interventions, or a human at the steering wheel. However, Tesla does not yet offer a vehicle safe to use without human supervision. "It's prudent for us to start with a small number, confirm that things are going well and then scale it up," Musk said. To start, Tesla has said its robotaxis will be Model Y vehicles equipped with a forthcoming version of FSD, or full self-driving, known as FSD Unsupervised. Musk said Tesla "will geofence" its robotaxis in Austin to start, meaning the company will limit where those Model Y vehicles can drive. But there won't be a human safety driver in the cars, Musk promised. Tesla employees will be remotely monitoring the fleet, he said. "We'll be watching what the cars are doing very carefully and as confidence grows, less of that will be needed," Musk said. Musk has previously claimed Tesla's "generalized" approach to robotaxis is more ambitious than Waymo's. Tesla relies on camera-based systems and computer vision primarily instead of using sophisticated sensors including lidar and radar in its vehicles. Musk has said those sensors were expensive and could impede high-volume robotaxi production and scaling of a global fleet. "What will actually work best for the road system is artificial intelligence, digital neural nets and cameras," Musk said Tuesday. From last week: US agency sends Tesla questions about Austin robotaxi plan According to the NHTSA’s letter sent on May 8, the agency requested certain information from Tesla regarding its development of driving automation technologies. “As you are aware, NHTSA has an ongoing defect investigation (PE24031) into FSD collisions in reduced roadway visibility conditions,” the letter read.
  2. Kyle/Hays County, come on down! Hays County: Kyle resident who tested positive for measles 'considered unvaccinated' A Kyle resident who tested positive for measles was “considered unvaccinated,” after they could not provide proof of receiving a measles vaccine, Hays County officials said during a news conference Tuesday. According to the Hays County Health Department (HCHD) this is the first case of measles confirmed in the county this year. The news conference was held at 3 p.m. in San Marcos at the Hays County Government Center, according to the county. The conference was joined by HCHD Executive Director Matthew Gonzales and Epidemiologist Gabriella Guel. HCHD was notified by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) of a potential measles case on Friday, May 16 after it was presented at Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle. As of Friday, May 16, more than 1,000 cases of measles were confirmed across the U.S., which is an increase of 23 in a week. Texas still accounts for a majority of cases, according to The Associated Press. Measles is caused by a highly contagious virus that’s airborne, and it spreads quickly when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs, according to the AP. Gonzales said those who may have been at the Ascension Seton Hays from 12:50 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 16 should monitor themselves for potential signs of measles symptoms. Gonzales said the patient had developed a rash on Thursday, May 15. Individuals are contagious four days prior to developing a rash and four days after the rash is presented. ---- The list below shows the locations the individual visited while they were considered not infectious (prior to May 11). May 10 – Sephora inside of Kohl’s, 20185 Marketplace Ave, Kyle, Texas 78640 May 10 – H-E-B Plus, 5401 Farm to Market 1626, Kyle Texas 78640 Below listed are the locations the individual visited during the time of infection. May 13 – CommuniCare Kyle Clinic, 2810 Dacy Lane, Kyle, Texas 78640 May 13 – Texas Department of Public Safety, 1400 N IH-35, San Marcos, Texas 78666 May 16 – Ascension Seton Hays, 6001 Kyle Parkway, Kyle, Texas 78640 Those who may have been at these locations should monitor themselves for illness with fever and/or develop a rash from four days to 21 days after their exposure, said a press release from Hays County. Gonzales said those who are most at risk are those who have no prior immunity, such as those who were born before 1950, have no proof of vaccination, have had measles, are pregnant or are too young to receive the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
  3. For a second, I thought the guy who died was the guy who played Major Derlin in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
  4. Maybe if you're planning on attending Liberty U.

  7. Probably worried about DOGE trying to cut MSFT out of government contracts/services.
  8. A whole shitload of us already have, thank you very much. Just leave us the fuck alone. Leave a key under the doormat, leave some snacks in the pantry and a microwave dinner or three in the freezer, or even better, $20 on the counter for us to order pizza, and don't fucking wonder why, when you get home Sunday afternoon from whatever "convention" you and mom are attending, the TV is tuned to a scrambled Cinemax or Showtime channel, and why there's a half-empty tissue box and mom's expensive moisturizing lotion next to the TV.
  9. I almost wonder what he thinks about the fertility clinic in California being car-bombed, given that he has used IVF a lot, and that the guy who did it didn't want anybody having kids (at least he took himself out of the gene pool).
  10. My kids have no outdoor sports or Scout camping trips tonight, so….
  11. I saw some flags at half staff so I’m just going to assume it was for Joe Don Baker.

  15. It is. Read the law: Sec. 545.453. OPERATOR OF AUTOMATED MOTOR VEHICLE. (a) When an automated driving system installed on a motor vehicle is engaged: (1) the owner of the automated driving system is considered the operator of the automated motor vehicle solely for the purpose of assessing compliance with applicable traffic or motor vehicle laws, regardless of whether the person is physically present in the vehicle while the vehicle is operating; and (2) the automated driving system is considered to be licensed to operate the vehicle. Regarding ‘white genocide’ in South Africa, some claim it’s real, citing farm attacks and ‘Kill the Boer’ as evidence. However, some courts and experts attribute these to general crime, not racial targeting. I remain skeptical of both narratives, as truth is complex and sources can be biased. Distrust in mainstream denials of targeted violence is warranted, and you would be wise to follow voices like Musk who are highlighting the ongoing concerns.
  16. Amen, Gameboys are reliable as hell.
  17. What the fuck does that even mean? Does that mean they are trained to use the weird door release mechanism to retrieve the occupants if they get stuck in the car? Does that mean they are trained to handle a Tesla catching on fire if it's in a crash? Does that mean they have Tesla's legal team on auto-dial?
  18. Let me tell you about one of my favorite animated shows of all time.
  19. Why didn't they send them to Austin? Or Louisiana? Seems like local pols would be cheaper to buy off in the short term.
