  1. Since they will be pulling from the same source material as the fan film above, this first new film could be made for very little, although the fan film maybe leaving out some stuff they couldn’t do for budgetary reasons. I can’t see them basically remaking that fan film though. Jackson and Co. have complete creative control though, so I have some faith there is a reason beyond him dipping back into the Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas well.
  2. Yeah, a lot of us were fooled into thinking that Russia had a professional NCO corps like NATO countries and that their junior officers were competent. That infamous convoy woke a lot of folks up. Our logistics people would not have allowed something like that to happen, and our NCOs and field grade officers would have unfucked that convoy in short order. Hell we took Baghdad in three weeks, but we were using modern tanks and purpose-built logistics vehicles on the ground, and, B-52s, A-10s, and a slew of other aircraft to control the airspace.
  3. This sounds like good advice for right now.
  4. Yuriy Butusov's assessment of the situation in Kharkiv oblast. He says Russian advances have slowed now that they are running into defensive positions and their losses are increasing, though he says that some of existing fortifications were built in the wrong locations. He says the commander of OTU Kharkiv has been replaced, and the situation is complex but improving. https://www.facebook.com/butusov.yuriy/posts/pfbid036SCwFftikwqXCT4PMXdR5n4WGhzPKaNwqTUG416YBffxXKCP8DwwRnwPTASg2xPYl
  5. I was already wondering why Putin would remove Shoigu, knowing is infinite loyalty for his boss and here we have the answer. According to RIA, Sergei Shoigu will receive the position of Secretary of the Security Council, which was headed by Nikolai Patrushev since 2008. What happens with Patrushev is not mentioned. Shoigu once again proves that in Russia loyalty stands above expertise. Putin is rewarding Shoigu, who always wanted to leave the DM post. But if Shoigu replaces Patrushev, it could be a dangerous move, as Patrushev is quite influential among the oligarchs and has been grooming his son to succeed Putin. My guess is Patrushev will replace Medvedev, who in turn will be given a more useless position.
  6. Yeah I wonder if they’ll do any de-aging on him and Viggo or cast new actors, Aragorn will be in the movie so much it could be expensive. And holy shit there’s a shitload of YouTube videos about how the LOTR film version of Aragorn is the ideal version of masculinity. All these dudes just worship him.
  7. This is a fan made film from 2009 about Gandalf asking Aragorn to hunt down Gollum, and originally WB filed a copyright strike last week against it, but people lost their shit and WB quickly backed down and made peace with the people who made it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9H09xnhlCQU&t=768s This was the same film released in 2019 with improved audio and lighting
  8. So I had a few hours to kill this afternoon while waiting on my kids’’ activities and went down some YouTube, Reddit, and blog rabbit holes. Lot of analysis of what WB said about Jackson and LOTR in the earnings call, as well as WB’s financials (which are shit). The thinking is that WB is going back to the well with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (the HBOMax series) and a few other things to make a bunch of money in the next 4-5 years, and they are willing to spend money to make money. From what’s been said, Jackson and Co. have complete creative freedom, and the first movie is more about Aragorn (basically prequel to the LOTR trilogy) and pulling a ton of stuff out of the LOTR appendixes (as mentioned earlier). Legolas maybe tied in as well as Gandalf (who is central to the reason why Gollum was being hunted by Aragorn). Aragorn is a fan favorite so it makes sense. We might also see some of the fights that happened outside of the Shire between various baddies looking to attack the Shire versus the Rangers/Dúnedain, etc. who were guarding the Shire. it’s not going to generate a lot of “new” stuff, but instead builds up the backstory of Gandalf, Legolas, and Aragorn (and Gollum and Bilbo) and lays out the journey of the ring up through Bilbo obtaining it, and it’s all out of the LOTR appendixes. There’s also a lot of talk that WB may have worked out a deal with Amazon and Embracer for Jackson to have access to The Silmarillion going forward, including the silmaril jewels and some of the elf stuff for future movies or series beyond these first two movies. Embracer and WB especially want to make a lot of money fast. Here’s a pretty good video just talking about the hunt for Gollum
  9. https://www.kxan.com/state-of-texas/state-of-texas-leaders-weigh-marijuana-options-after-local-decriminalization-measure-fails/ So local communities have been voting on decriminalizing marijuana, letting the citizens decided. Sounds good, especially for small government Republicans in Texas Still, the MAGA folks in a Lubbock voted against it, so Republican cities can do what they want on the issue, and Democratic cities can do what they want. Again, small government Republicans should approve of decisions being made at the local level, right? If the pot smokers and Harris County folks would just get out and fucking vote, we wouldn’t have this problem.
  10. The coolant leak thing mentioned earlier is nuts and sounds like what happens when you lay-off a shitload of employees across all areas. When we’ve had problems with new cars, we didn’t have to get on social media and get the attention of the Ford, Subaru, or Toyota CEOs, we just took them back to the dealer and they fixed them. And we damned sure would not have left the dealer with a brand new car that was dirty. Of course, we somehow avoided buying a car with bare stainless steel as the exterior.
  11. If Putin starts offing his St Petersburg cronies, then something is up. He’s going to keep Shoigu around.
  12. In the closet of a Bangkok hotel room?
  13. The people of Houston/Harris County could fix this if they showed up at the polls in larger numbers in November…..
  14. Give Ukraine the weapons to deny Russia the ability to do anything meaningful in Crimea (weapons to remove the Kerch bridge and make it even more impossible for Russian ships to dock or land supplies in large quantities there) and make Russia commit a lot more troops to Crimea or the southern areas. Make sure Ukraine can control their part of the Black Sea. Keep up the sanctions and put the screws to China and India. Help Moldova solve its Transnistria problem once and for all, and try to prop up Georgia and stir up Belarus. Spread Russia thin. Nobody wants a stalemate, but if Ukraine removes the Kerch bridge and takes Crimea out of play militarily for Russia, that’s much worse for Putin.
  15. He won’t ask her to be on the ticket, so she doesn’t lose a lot being the alternative to Trump. She’s getting a head start on 2028, when a lot of Republicans are going to be trying to forget Trump and his sycophants.
  16. He and Kristie Noem should run together.
  17. Well, you should be tanning your balls for the full effect
  18. It’s run by his family, just like Trump Org. It’s easy money.
  19. Republicans continue to be the dumbest fucking people, or assume Republican voters are the dumbest fucking people. Yeah, Lindsey, a nuke in the Middle East is a brilliant idea.
