  1. We have several clients that use them for R&D studies. They are a massive credit company with a ton of employees.
  2. Markets are different, but just the pool including 1800 sq ft of travertine and gas heat was about $125k. That was also locked in preCovid supply problems. The travertine coming in now is significantly more expensive than it was then. Builder called me yesterday and told me the fittings came in wrong for the gas for the heater and supply line for the grille. Vendor told him it would be 18 months to get what we need. Working on a different connection layout now with the plumbers. We had to run 2 inch supply lines for the heater so those connections and the connections that regulate the 2 inch flow down to what we need at the other connections are unavailable. Shit’s stupid.
  3. Around here if you just want them to take a pallet of square sod pieces and lay it, you’re looking at $400-$600 per pallet in total. That is up quite a bit from a couple of years ago. That doesn’t include any dirt and minimal leveling, no equipment usage at all. We are using all rolled sod to have a smoother more consistent look and to cover large areas. It’s not cheap.
  4. The never ending project rolls on. Travertine came in the wrong color back in February, so we are still waiting on the replacement batch with no expected delivery timeframe yet. Brick masons dropped a brick on the gas regulator a while back, so we’re still waiting on a replacement for it so we can use the grill and pool heater. Did go ahead and get get some sod put down and will get the fence in this week because I’m tired of finding stuff in the pool (someone’s dog yesterday.) Furniture came in last week after about 20 weeks, so it’s all stacked up in the garage. Maybe by the end of summer and almost two years after digging the hole it will all be done. For reference the building is right at 38x18.
  5. King’s are much more of a race shock setup similar to the detached reservoir Fox setups and if my memory is correct have very short rebuild schedules. The cover is a tri fold setup and will fold up flat against the back window out of the way. It limits visibility to the bed in that setup, but it is out of the way of the gooseneck.
  6. That picture reminds me of one of my many stupid exploits as a teenager. I was running farm roads with a buddy in my lifted 79 Blazer. He told me to cut across a field to head back and failed to mention the irrigation ditch that ran across it. We dropped into it and almost stood the truck up on it’s nose it was so deep. It has been raining and we ended up having to get his dad and grandad to daisy chain three tractors together to get it out the next day. They completely destroyed a field in the process and were beyond pissed, I busted a drive shaft and rear end. We never ran farm roads on his property again. I also learned valuable lessons about taking directions from dumbasses and knowing what I was driving off into before just going for it.
  7. I’m going to go with the Undercover Ultra Flex. I’ve used it on my last three trucks and have zero complaints with it. I set them up the same options / same color, tint, LineX, ultra flex bedcover, Fox Stage 1 kit, and Cooper tires. The Fox’s have been a problem every time, so I need a better option on them.
  8. I prefer leveled, I just haven’t found an option I’m comfortable with short of going to bags which I don’t want to mess with. Thinking about going with an Icon Stage 4 kit but the rebuild schedules worry me. My last set of Fox’s didn’t make it 30k miles before they needed a rebuild so you either have to have spare shocks or you’re down the rebuild time frame.
  9. Didn’t like that idea, went with the original plan of buying a 250. Windows, bed liner and cover are lined up for this week. Still trying to decide whether to level it or not.
  10. It’s amazing what people will pay to be first. The First Edition Bronco’s were going for stupid numbers. F250 was delivered last night. I’ll be interested to see what he throws out on my 2 year old F150. Based on what I see, it should be right at what I paid for it.
  11. Stayed on the Brooklyn side of the river this week with a great view of the city. It was a nice change of pace bouncing back and forth between the City and Brooklyn on the ferry every day. There were a lot of really good places to eat through the Williamsburg area that you could get in and out of without any waiting on anything. Ate at Reserve Cut down from the NYSE building one night as well and it was well worth the price. Taking the kids back in October and staying at the Lotte NY Palace to have a good base to see the things they want to see.
  12. I love a good “back in my day” and “everybody is lazy” discussion. People change, times change, things change, and successful companies figure out how to navigate it. Navigating the employee/employer relationship is different today than it was even 3 years ago. I think the biggest issue is the mindset of treating everyone equally based on job function. We are moving closer to everyone having their own work requirements and paying for what they are willing to give. We still have x amount of work to do, but we’ll pay you for exactly what you do and not just what we expect you to do because of the job title you are in. It requires more management/oversight, but it provides each person with their own personalized job function. The biggest negative in all of this is companies have gotten desperate and are overselling talent which is resetting a lot of industry baselines. They are operating irrationally with short term vision and not looking at the future downsides. People are capitalizing right now, but it will ultimately be problematic for individuals that company jump without the requisite base knowledge and eventually run out of jumps. We have doubled down on new hires and interns to over staff at lower levels to hopefully provide a cushion long-term. My biggest fear is that we stay work from home as an industry and NE companies keep paying NE rates to small town south employees. It’s really screwing our pay scales up and that is what keeps me up long-term.
  13. It has zero to do with this thread, but once my kids are out of high school we will be moving due to the political climate. To respond to your premise though, the fact that you think my daughter going to college in a couple of years and my wife have the same risks tells me you aren’t being all that genuine to the discussion. Like I mentioned earlier, we’ve had zero discussions about looking at places from an abortion availability standpoint. It hasn’t entered the discussion and I don’t think it ever will. She is primarily looking at colleges outside of states that are all over the news the last year or so for decisions they are making concerning a multitude of things she doesn’t agree with. Some of that is being young and naive, but we’ve also been pushing them to leave the south for a long time.
  14. Other thread had some interesting thoughts on the matter and people have looked at it differently than we did. My kids aren’t leaving the state because of my/our thoughts of what if in relation to them, they are leaving because they don’t like the direction things are going and don’t like how that direction impacts women and others in general. I guess it‘s probably something that needs to be discussed sooner rather than later. Neither are naive to the way the world works, but both are probably sheltered more than they need to be having grown up where they did and looking to move where they think they want to end up.
  15. It’s funny you put those two together, my youngest is as dead set on ASU right now as the oldest is on UNC (visiting Univ of Chicago later this month). Apparently all the Tik Tok people she follows go to ASU. At this point any college is a plus for her so we’re setting a low bar. It’s probably not a discussion for this thread, but it is interesting to see others with daughters that are going through the same discussions. My mother asked my oldest last night why she wasn’t considering TN and she told her flat out she wouldn’t be going to school in this state nor did she ever plan on moving back
  16. They are on the payroll at my office. If that’s not an option, once they start earning outside income then you can make the Roth contributions off of that.
  17. Same, just got in. Planning on hitting Jaleo and Zuma while we’re here this trip. See what else comes up. I’ll make sure to walk through the casino asking everyone if they are from the internet.
  18. Don’t try and bring reason to a Cowboys thread, this is no place for it. Everyone would be bitching no matter who was selected at this point.
  19. Most areas have some sort of foundation that will set up and manage funds for individual beneficiaries. They accept the donations, manage the investments, and collect a fee for that service that typically comes out of the income stream.
  20. I don’t think it’s the big city experience she’s necessarily looking for, I think she’s just cross referencing the “lists” of top psychology schools with schools she’s heard of / places she has seen. Ultimately, she’s going to have a hard time expanding past UNC, so anything else has been a work in process. She has several large state type schools that are set in smaller towns on her list to see also at the moment. We’ll look into Trinity, she’s been extremely interested in the Boston area but again it leans towards Northeastern or Boston U.
  21. This is the worst start to a season I think I’ve had. This team sucks top to bottom at the moment.
  22. She has her guarantees in place, so she’s shooting for the moon on most of the others with a few middle grounds mixed in. She’s a junior next year, so we decided to hit the hardest ones to get into this summer so she could go ahead and show interest, meet with admissions, get involved in some of the things they have going on for prospective students, work on early admittance (thanks for that thought process by the way) components since she has a solid baseline test score and can work on getting a couple more points from here on out, etc. Then she can visit the others during the school year and into her senior year that are on the easier tiers. Right now we’re fighting a battle with her to try and get her to understand that she needs to look at some smaller schools, that these larger ones are going to be a little overwhelming coming out of the small private school background. She’s focused on the “lists” of psychology schools in areas she likes though and hasn’t moved past the large institutions. It’s also difficult to randomly come up with smaller schools that make sense, although she is going to look at a few around Chicago and the Raleigh area as that is her two main focuses.
  23. We’re going to go ahead and knock out some tours this summer after thinking through the process. I assumed everyone was back live, but she’s doing Michigan, University of Chicago, and UNC this summer and had planned on Northwestern but it’s still virtual.
  24. Been dealing with dirt/sand for a couple months because of my never ending construction zone. I brush the deep end towards the drain and then the shallow end I just try and get it away from the sides and run the Polaris constantly. Brushing from the shallow end kept everything stirred up too much to where the returns just kept blowing it around.
  25. Man, somehow I lucked into the 1 out of 5 that don’t. It’s just my luck.
