I don’t know shit about GT, but I didnt think he could pull that off? Good for him.

Meh, games aren’t transitive. And Texas ou is always a tough contest.

He throws a much better ball then I thought he could.

Well, we now know why Riley wasted points on the last possession of the first half. ou can pretty much name the score. So I’m guessing he had a conversation with Chip showing respect to the elder statesmen prior to the game, and isn’t showing the entire package. And not going for the throat.
  5. Damn, if I didn’t know better some of you can’t be a day over 16. If you got your man crush up on some bullshit he served up in a interview, pod cast, web post, or any other bullshit. Congratulations, you now know how he landed such a prestigious job as the AD at the university of Texas. The jury will be out, and he (CDC) will not act on the head football coaches future until which time there is either a scandal (god forbid) or upon the completion of, at the minimum the third full year of the contract. Even then, no matter the record. Which unlike some I still believe will be much better then some of our in house prognosticators keep serving up in the other threads. Unless there is a specific coach he has in mind sitting out there that he absolutely must act on or lose, Herman will be easily given years three and probably four. So as disastrous as the Maryland game was for us. No organization in its right mind takes any action until the final numbers are in. And laugh if you want, but the Big12 ain’t that great. Winning this conference is not the same as others in that you get a second crack at a team that may have beat you earlier. And until we see for ourselves what ou, TCU, WV, actually have when they play us. And not someone else, because the transitive property isn’t applicable. We simply won’t know how just how bad/good we really are. And as long as a conference championship hangs in the balance and is in the conversation. Herman will be fine.
  6. The highest rate of success that I see is grabbing a coordinator that has shown innovation, organization, and a certain level of confidence that allows them to step up to the big job. In fairness even then it’s a roll of the dice. Kirby at Georgia comes to mind, as I really thought he would struggle. Replacing Richt when he was winning a lot more then he was losing appeared risky. But after last year I have to say they pulled a good one out of their hat. The fact he is a former Bulldog just makes it better. Pruitt at Tennessee on the other hand may be the exact opposite. Going back farther, Leach was a good upgrade at Tech from bag-o-dicks staff. If not for the political bullshit most believe he would have kept Tech in the picture. Of course it isn’t just the guy you select either. You have to have some luck that the guy can land and coach up the players he needs. And can pick a staff that buys into a new boss without any ego. I will always believe some staffs are handcuffed by coordinators who feel it should be them, and not the guy they are working for who should have got the job. They keep their feelings quite and play along, but there seems to always be a problem with team progress.
  7. Chizk is a better example. Talk about being fucking gifted a title. And the fact they plucked his .500 ass out of the cornfields of the Midwest. Hell, a half a dozen guys on this site could have parlayed that team to a championship.
  8. It’s like a 12 step program. Maryland has some of us rationalizing the abuse of our past, to find comfort in the fact that........we’ll, we didn’t lose to teams like Maryland two years in a row.
  9. Not at all. They merely needed a story (and any story would do) to change the narrative. Even the game broadcast they did their duty by mentioning the situation less then a minute in. And never mentioned it again, at least that I am aware of. But in all honesty, isn’t this what we all thought would happen? unless new shit comes to light......just smoke a doobie..
  10. This game is exactly where it should be on our schedule. Unfortunately it tells you that when the schedule was put together, there was already concern in the room about which team would follow the Maryland game. You can also count on a much better rhythm from both the offense and defense. I expect production from the RB, along with some nice catches sprinkled around. What we can’t count on is more of the same strange substitutions, play calls and inconsistent QB play. And that bothers me.
  11. The thing about Leach is that if you gave just two weeks with the current Texas roster. We would see 3 possibly 4 receivers that none of us knew we had, or are playing at a much different level they we knew they could achieve. We would see a O-line rotation that none of us were even aware that we had. And a running attack that produces a plus net average that would be higher then last years team could muster. And most importantly we would see a QB (whoever the fuck he went with, because for Leach it don’t matter) that all of a sudden has confidence and an identity. But.....we would not get the guy who can live within the executive types. He doesn’t like em, he has no time for their shit. And doesn’t care how they made their millions. He also doesn’t have time to press the flesh, kiss their ass or stand in awe of some guy who is living off of his daddy’s nickel. Texas will never again hire a coach that can’t work the room. They have tried it, it didn’t work, and they will never go down that road again.
  12. The love many have for the PAC on this site amazes me. Are all of you guys just passing through a Texas site, simply because it is the best of all the boards? Or are you actual Texas born and bred, but lean to the left coast due to business or experiences? Much in the same way I ended up in Georgia after I got out In 76. Dont get me wrong I spend a lot of time out West. Mostly because the Rockies, and I’m an F-Class shooter that requires long ranges to compete at. These little hills back east are simply nothing compared to Colorado’s 14’ers. And 1000 yard ranges are nonexistent out here. But football, well football is a different animal all together.. again just curious where this comes from.
  13. It’s part of my fucking trademark move. 90’s Killer Loop’s (only the titanium frames though), the closet to burnt orange Maui Waui shirt (thousands of little fat guys smoking doobies), cargo’s and grey Nike Kix. I’m fucking 60, fuck off if it bothers you.
  14. Where can I pick up a “We got butt fucked by a turtle”.....turtleneck?
  15. Stop trying. With our results Saturday some are unable to be rational. And they refuse to see that this is still the college game. Where a mismatch can very easily be exploited if everyone is paying attention (take note Beck). And unlike the NFL where all 11 defenders are fucking fast and can run to the ball. There are weaknesses in every single college team. The second the ou spotter sees a possible advantage based on personnel, or a substitution he will radio down to Riley.
  16. Some of you are either far to young, or simply don’t know. From an acedemic standpoint Texas is the best school that offers students more opportunities then any other. And yes I of course know all about Ivy, Stanford, even Chicago. But, as a complete package our school is head mother fucker. No points against you if you disagree. You’re just wrong. However, and here is the rub. Coaching here is very different then coaching at either a lessor institution. Or worse, a down right football factory like Alabama. As bad as our Regents may want to win. They will never, ever say yes sir to a fucking football coach. Mack was the perfect guy for the job because of this. He understood how acedemics perceive football. And could sell kids in the school. Though some of you laugh at him now. The man was perfect for Texas sized egos we have around here. Almost 40 years passed between our 69 and 05 titles. Think about that....sure we had opportunity, who could ever forget that fucking Cotton Bowl with the nut sniffers. But winning here scares a lot of coaches. The biggest is even the slightest hint of impropriety. Will not be tolerated. Not at the cost of the good names who run this institution. And that makes it very, very difficult to recruit against those who are allowed, even encouraged in some cases to engage in that. So whomever coaches when Herman is done. Which will hopefully be after a legitimate search and vetting. And not just because some overpaid internet hack says he is great.
  17. It’s hilarious. FSU made a very political hire in Taggart. And no one, and I mean no one at the mothership is allowed to ask the most obvious question for fear of offending someone. But ask yourself. What has Taggart done that even remotely qualified him for such a job? He has one year at South Florida that one could say was awesome. The rest of them were average at best. But look closer at that successful team, who the star players were and how they got there. And then factor in his previous 3 seasons at USF. Remind you of someone? Oregon was even worse. Especially after his “style” of coaching landed guys in the ER. The ensuing campaign was a disaster. From basic fundamentals, to gameplays no one understood Willie was talking improvement. Sticking with and trusting the process. Never letting on his agent was quietly looking for an out. And like a fart in the wind he lands in Tallahassee. And if you didn’t get my earlier reference, and I know you did. His resume reads almost identically like Charlie’s. And those in the know are already making the comparison. If he doesn’t get gifted a honest next level QB ala’ Bridgewater for Charlie. FSU is proper fucked going forward.

    1-5

We are not going fucking 1-5, so just stop that bullshit.
  19. Oh, I don’t know. Essentially handing the ball to a guy in a different uniform could be construed as a meltdown?
  20. Herman is so full of shit. No fucking body is impressed with his brain skills. He comes across as if he is still a pussy hunter. His vanity is wearing thin with many of us. The season is by no means lost. Mostly because it just fucking started. But, rather then fucking up a metaphor on Steinbeck literature, how about teaching our guys fundamental football. And play the best player. Hermans failure to go back to Ingram was inexcusable after his initial success.
  21. The quit part is what worries me most. Once that shit gets started in a locker room it is damn near impossible for a staff to correct it.
  22. The only thing that I know for sure. Is that in my almost 6 decades of watching from a stroller to a walker I have never, ever seen the number of WTF things that have happened over the last few years. I have seen bad Texas teams, but nothing that even remotely comes close to the strange fucking way we keep getting beat. From coin tosses, to turning the ball over at the worse possible time. Never have I seen things like this happen as frequently as they have from 2015 until now. It’s like the Mack curse is real, and he put it on us for letting him go. As I am superstitious, I believe we need something to happen to change our karma. Just some out of the blue, the same as when you are playing bad golf and you make a putt, chip, whatever. And then birdie the next 3 holes. Because unlike some I don’t believe we have bad players. These same guys were the shit in high school. Something, whether coaching, or lack of it. Is preventing these players from being put in a positive situation to succeed. I refuse to believe we have 85 scholarship stiffs.
  23. I just don’t understand why it is so difficult to coach players up so they master what most agree are simple fundamentals. Goofy shit in year two is fucking crazy.
  24. It’s the way we lose. We fucking spot those fuckers 20 points, and for one series adjust the game plan with 4 rushes and a single pass and get 7. Then what do we do? We fucking stop doing what just got us points. That is the shit I don’t get. No one is saying rush the ball 45 times. But at least force them to make an adjustment before you stop going to the well. We basically played defense against ourselves by holding our RB attack. And in place of that we’re plays that, well we’re just not very good. I quite counting the times we ran a play into the very best players they had on defense. Why would you do that? That is the entire purpose of having a spotter upstairs. Looking for a mismatch. Not just to sit in the A/C. It just doesn’t make any sense.
