  1. Better then Hoke? Who fucking knows. What we do know is neither of them could beat OSU ass. Jim just happens to be making twice what Hoke did while losing to their hated rival.
  2. Obviously you are not one of the 1%. They already have their own jet packs.
  3. Wrong..There is nothing hilarious about being accused of actions that fan bases, universities and the coaching community would take issue with. With Herman lawyering up he is taking this accusation very serious. That alone makes it not only real. But him trying to get out front of the story. Now, had he went through proper channels it would look different. But then he too would get hammered for not speaking up years ago. So if he really played a role in any of this his only real option was to use a third party.
  4. I’m with Ghost on this. The faster the better. Herman’s statement was very prepared, but what caught my eye was he was very specific in his assurances that neither he nor his family played a part in this information allowed some ambiguity. The fact that his statement of denial didn’t comprehensively cover any known associate, friend or administrative entity, etc allows him a lot of wiggle room. While at the same time still being truthful. Note: I read the statement as it was posted on ESPN’s homepage. By conveniently not being specific allows him to be technically correct. And we will see if someone takes the time to ask the follow up question. Which is simply did he leave a trail, not actually providing the information, but a heads up if you will to someone indirectly? An easy to follow trail that allowed Brent Mcmurphy (sp?) to follow up on his own, while never knowing the origin of the actual source.
  5. A piece of Hot Wheels Track. My mother could snap a piece of that orange track like a bull whip. And when she would “accidentally” slice into your ass she would blame me for not standing still.
  6. Hogan was right. He predicted that if the rules of golf didn’t address the size of the hole all tournaments would more or less be come glorified putting contests. Green books, along with emergence of the power game and solid ball has allowed the casual fan to believe that those types elements are the deciding factor. But in truth the are not. A perfect example is Simpson winning the TPC. The guy putted lights out, punched way above his weight and saved multiple pars, not by hitting great approach shots. But by making putts in the 20’ range that his ass never fucking makes. We have all played with guys who can shoot 72-75 at our club, and who never seem to find the fairway. Yet get them on the green and they take your fucking money. Same thing applies here. Whichever guy finds a way to putt way beyond his normal number (say average 25 instead of their normal 31) per round will win. And it won’t make a damn how fucking far he hits his drives, proximity to the hole, or his wedge play. The guy who putts best wins most. Now, give DJ Zach Johnson’s putting ability he would win everything.
  7. Meh, from where I sit no one at that shit hole gave two fucks about some guy’s wife. What they DO care about is recruiting. And this guy has the goods, and why Urb’s brought his ass with him. Now, anyone who has worked in a situation where the guys with the real power use their henchmen to do the wet work know two things. First, the guy is good at what he does. And second, he knows all the dirt on all the parties involved. Therefore termination was never an option. At least not without providing him a landing spot. The guy knows where all the bodies are buried for Christ sakes. So the way I see it ol’ Gene’o better get his box because his days are numbered. I’m sure they were burning the midnight oil last night putting together his severance package. Which will be good enough that he can retire wherever he wishes....after he signs his NDA. Urb keeps his job and puts this behind him as he has done throughout his career. And the guy in the crosshairs lays low until the money people can find him a spot same as Tressel. And lastly the wife. If she has some dirt on Urb, she too may be in line for some cash. If not fuck her for bringing this on the school. At the end of the day a MNC may be mythical. But it’s worth millions to the university. They will not term the very guy who brought them one unless they have to. And even then no one knows if anyone at that shit university has enough power to fire him without a prolonged legal battle.
  8. The only thing I find shocking is that anyone is shocked. Urb’s ties with AH alone should tell the average person that character and psychotic behavior are not that high on the list of his recruiting check sheet. And apparently now we find this standard applies to both recruit or coach. He has taken “Just Win Baby” to an entirely new level.
  9. It ain’t great “art”, but I laughed my ass off. SB stole the movie.
  10. I’m 60 years old. And I’m curious if anyone my age ever wondered how oddly quiet Armstrong remained his entire life after returning from that mission? His crew members sure didn’t have any issues talking about it. I’m sure he was never hurt for money. But I was told from a very young age to be weary of any man who talks to much about his accomplishments, but question the accomplishments of any man who never mentions them.
  11. Sorry guys. It was a good series, I will give it that. But top 5 or 10 all time? Not even close. Only if that particular genre is in your wheelhouse. AND you enjoy/allow the rehashing of the Italian Hollywood stereotype that has been beat to death since The Godfather came out was it anything but pretty good. Now, Big G was the real deal. And we lost a fine actor when he passed. But as far as I’m concerned. It was him, and no one else that gave the show life.
  12. If I had to make a guess it is another example of just how good the camera guys employed by our networks really are. They are by far the gold standard in not only locating and tracking a struck golf ball. But doing so while maintaining critical focus through the entire flight of the ball. I am basing this on comments made earlier this week that those currently running the cameras are not our guys. But a collection of UK/EU camera guys who are members in their own union. And have their own classification standard for who gets to work the championship. Im sure the word got out because the camera work is far subpar, even when compared to what we see on the web.com tour coverage. And our guys don’t want the blame.
  13. I agree with the previous poster who feels that the writers got caught by losing their big reveal thunder when Bladerunner 2049, or at least Ghost in the machine made reproduction the POI in both of those movies.. And I feel that way because it sure seems as if they laid everything out for the bots to cross the last line in evolution....reproduction. When they scrambled to create a new aiming point. Losing the significant point of Ford’s grand creation caused the writers to shift gears and in its place we get the cradle/forge or whatever the borg like point they are trying to make. Where we go old school body snatchers 1965 replacing humans with bots. A film old enough that maybe no one will notice that all of this material has already been covered. It’s a shame too because I have really liked what they were doing.
  14. The first time I ever watched his show (and up until that moment had no idea who he was) he was in Havana. And for those who are familiar with how the show flowed, remember that he always did the local scene along with the food angle. Usually to get plastered on some local brew. In that episode he stops by a barber who he had heard was the fucking man with a straight razor. Best shave in Havana he was told. Unfortunately the guy was so absolutely freaked about being on camera he was unable to stop his hands from shaking. Watching AB get literally chopped up from the guys shaking hands was the most incredible thing I had ever seen. When he left the shop he had multiple cuts, bleeding all over his shirt, and wore the cuts with pride. I didn’t see him flinch a single time. And never (at least on camera) spoke a disparaging word about the guy. The most ultimate take it like man situation I have ever seen. If that shit wasn’t a set up he was a fucking bad ass.
  15. Fuck Ohio. But they can lay claim to some of the finest benchrest shooters in the world. As well as some extremely talented engine builders/tuners in everything from top fuel to formula 1.
  16. I believe there is a place for them. Though I (probably like you) still carry a 1911, and have since the 60’s. But I can smith them whereas most people cannot. A complete novice can change/upgrade a Glock with zero training, and a single tool. Barrel change outs, trigger pull, adding ambidextrous safeties, etc, are incredibly easy. Companies like The Glock Store have made this possible. And give Glock credit. They brought a new tech to the marketplace before most others and benefited from that. Though I found their reliability claims somewhat misleading. Now that other manufacturers are using high end poly’s that no longer is the selling point it once was. And if you are unwilling to practice with whatever you do like, does it really matter? The majority of guys I know who carry spend less then an hour a month actually practicing. It amazes me that there are people like that.
  17. Solid movie. Always got stumped on the scene where Deniro is with his Jean at the garage talking to the mechanic looking for information on the Russians. The actor playing the liaison between them and the mechanic enters the movie without an intro. And though he favors the same actor (sorry name escapes me) who owned the house where Deniro removes the bullet. It is in fact a different actor. But I cannot find a reference to who the actor in the garage is? There are two possibilities shown in the notes when the credits roll, but nothing that gives specific credit to who the actor actually is, nor how they how they hooked up. They just open the scene in the garage and Jean simply says that his guy from the house knows everyone in Paris. When the new actor motions to the billboard about where he would look for Russians while pointing to the ice skating billboard. I always wondered if there was an issue during filming with the actors health and they were forced to go with someone who favored the other actor. And though his beard and facial features are close, his voice is an obviously different. Or they simply added the scene and the other actor was unavailable? Does anyone know?
  18. Well that and the fact that NFL owners lead the way in collusion.
  19. Top 10 of all time....Nirvana? No fucking way. If anything it tells me more about your age and what has influenced you up to this point in your life then the topic at hand. And why I asked up the thread what everyone was using as their criteria. But to make such a statement without something specific shits on a lot of acts who lasted longer, had more sales, were more influential and received more critical acclaim from their own peers including making shit tons more money then Nirvana ever thought of. Off the top of my head acts like the Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Dylan, the Who, Santana, Crosby, Stills Nash and Young. Along with a decade of Southern acts like the Allman Brothers, Skynard, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels. And the other British Invasion guys like Clapton, Zepplin, Deep Purple, Mott the Hoople etc, hold down any spot above Nirvana other then some specific criteria like “Seattle based bands only”. Hell, Nirvana isn’t even in the fucking top 50. If anything they remind me of a poor man’s Cream. A 60’s supergroup who like Nirvana exploded on the scene with a couple of really bad ass albums and then just as quick were gone. And in their case all three members, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Clapton continued to do their thing for decades after they collaborated. And though it is possible, one can only “assume” Kurt would have been able to stay relevant in a crazy busy like music where tastes change very quickly. He could have very easily been pigeon holed in qrundge and never been able to evolve out of that genre. Grohl on the other hand has shown what we would have missed had he not had the opportunity to get out from behind his kit. He has many skills.
  20. How in the hell do you determine “best”?
  21. Same here. I passed on it originally because it felt as if I was unable to grasp what the writers were trying to say. Fast forward to my late 50’s and it checked every box in my own life. I still am unable to say exactly what it is about Bill and Scarlett’s interaction that grabs me. But there is a level of despair that I identify with. And I’m not so sure that is a good thing.
  22. Meh, I don’t put much stock in some of Kevin’s behavior. Him being one of the more sensitive guys in the league I see his actions as nothing more then him still struggling internally about jumping from OKC to GS. And what we are seeing is Kevin trying to convince not only himself, but everyone else that him making the jump to GS was OK to do. In a strange way winning a single title has caused him internal grief because on the surface he believes people don’t like him for that. And Kevin doesn’t like to think people don’t like him. Only winning multiple titles would allow him to put that internal demon away. And when the possibility of losing out becomes real it fucks with his ability to look at a game situation rationally. Kevin is his own worst enemy at this point in his career. But again, just my take on why someone as talented as him does something silly at a crucial time. He has needlessly put enormous pressure on himself in an effort to try and please everyone. Rather then just simply playing his game, and fuck who does or does not like you.
  23. Dont care for Florida, but fuck aggy.
  24. I’m surprised that I don’t see many “project” guitars in this thread? Though I admit I’m a brand name guy. I spend a lot of time buying cheap kits like Flying V and PRS knock offs to improve my understanding of how the instrument works. Learning how to solder properly, buzz and noise suppression techniques, and which gauge of wire works best are all part of the learning curve. I have even started winding my own pick ups because of an article in Guitar Player magazine that showed all of the readings that were pulled off of Eddies Frankenstein pick ups when he entered into an agreement to produce his own line. And even with my limited experience I have quickly realized just how easily my dumb ass can change a guitars sound by simply changing how I wind $30 worth of components. But getting a good ol Texas “crunch” sound from a $150 guitar kit is actually pretty satisfiying. So if you haven’t tried it, give it a go. Don’t bother with trying to produce a perfect finish (which is ok if that’s what you want). Just tinker with the electronics. I believe you will have a lot of fun without breaking the bank. Oh, and you will have to invest in some quality tuners. Every kit I have bought the tuners and nut were absolutely shit.

I will laugh my ass off if Vegas does the impossible and not only wins the cup. But denies Washington a title by a fucking expansion team.
