  1. Technically he is a RS sophomore, but having to change systems after the RS year means he's really not even that. Like most of you, I don't understand the premature comparisons to QBs who have vastly more experience and are having career years.
  2. I don't think your scenario for the PAC qualifies as "crazy shit." I'm not saying it will happen, but Oregon St. beating Oregon isn't crazy, and honestly, Arizona beating Washington isn't either. FSU is the more likely path, but there is plenty of meaningful football to be played that will decide this, including by us.
  3. This. Football is a team sport. The only stat that matters is 10-1. Yes we will lose a lot of talent this year. We also have a lot of talent ready fill the void.
  4. I like this thought, and it comes with the added benefit of giving us the opportunity to avenge our one loss, which may be a small factor in whether we make it into the CFP. On the other hand, not getting to play OkSt, means they would be the only left behind team with scoreboard over us, courtesy of their win last season. Ultimately, I care most about beating Tech. If that happens, I won't really give a shit who we play.
  5. X-win Exteban, though I'm hoping for 13-win Ptheven. Should we somehow manage 14 (or 15 in future seasons), we'll have to get creative. From the Debby Downer contingent, while CTJ missed on the number of expected losses as well as the opponents that would be producing them, his prediction that we would lose to at least one of the listed is still in play. Let's hope this isn't a "spike the ball before crossing the goal line" situation.
  6. Age and getting paid are not the same as meaningful experience. '20-'21 Games played as a HS Junior: 8 '21-'22 Games played while getting paid by tOSU: 0 Having zero game experience in a completely different system during his true freshman season likely didn't add much to Quinn's preparedness for his first action as the Longhorns QB. If he is going to be compared to other QBs, it should be limited to those who have started fewer than 20 games, have had injuries that limit games played and effectiveness, and are in their second season under their current coaching staff. I'm not sure who checks all of those boxes, but I suspect that Quinn would favorably compare. Anyone expecting much more than we are getting from him at this point has unrealistic expectations.
  7. Same with that Sosa kid. Neither will amount to anything.
  8. Memphis is actually 19-1, not unbeaten. I misread their record.
  9. He was my first Longhorn idol.
  10. In the bottom half of our bracket, unbeaten 6-seed Memphis just took out 3-seed Notre Dame, and awaits the winner of Pitt and Arkansas. Aggie and FSU are scoreless at the 25 minute mark. Live updates of the entire bracket: https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/soccer-women/d1/2023
  11. He's definitely surviving...for now.
  12. It made you start singing this in your head, didn't it?
  13. I saw it mentioned in another thread somewhere from the beginning of season 1, but not much positive, so I didn't revive it. I'm enjoying it. Neither the acting, nor the the storylines are quite as good as Downton Abby, but that would be difficult to match.
  14. I suspect there is a long line for that task.
  15. Bruce isn't running anything. He has good awareness, and is doing well winning advantages, but the only votes he is steering is when others let him. Drew, Emily, and Dee are playing winning games, with Austin and Julie in positions to make moves. Bruce will go as far as his advantages take him. People can win doing that, but it's the more difficult path. He may have to become a "take them to the end because they can't win" person to save himself at some point, but I don't think that is his game.
  16. Agreed. Good episode, though I'm really tired of "come on, Dad; hurry, Dad; come on, Dad."
  17. Clearly the men's and women's teams are sharing the same FT coach.
  18. Well that sucks. I really thought DeGrom was going to win it.
  19. Texas - 28 Iowa State - 26 Yards - 402
  20. Venues can be reserved for multiple days well in advance just as easily as they can be for one. If they are paid enough, I suspect that the ballroom owners would be willing to be on call for months. As you said, these things are planned well in advance. You don't think they are going to build in some wiggle room in case flights get canceled, extreme weather, or some other unforeseen occurrence that impacts scheduling? I get it. You want the race to be pure with no production manipulation. I do too. I just don't believe that it is, at least not entirely. I have always believed that there are times where decisions are made mid-leg to produce or at least favor a certain outcome. I could be wrong. I understand that editing can make any team more (dis)likeable. I also understand that some teams come by those traits naturally or exhibit behaviors that make for good tv. If I'm in charge, I'm going to want to see those teams stick around as long as possible.
  21. Why not? Teams have arrived at challenges several hours, sometimes even more than a day apart, even without any production interference. Do you think those bands, dance troupes, camel wranglers, cheese makers, cat jugglers all just keep at it during that time? Is it not possible that they are capable of turning the lights on with only a little bit of notice, and are compensated to be ready to go over an extended period time? Some legs are obviously less malleable than others, especially when pre-arranged flights were in play, but I choose to believe that the production staff favors certain teams to the extent that there may be occasional shenanigans at play. If it makes any difference, it seemed a lot more heavy handed in seasons past when there were multiple NELs per race, and they always seemed to save a team I wanted gone.
  22. All they have to do is decide if the race will continue now or after a stop. They can easily have contingencies in place and make that decision during a leg if a fan favorite/evil villain is struggling early. Obviously, that decision has to be made before the first team arrives, but there is no reason it couldn't me right before they reach the mat.
