  1. HEB at Fountainview and San Felipe has expanded their curbside delivery slots. Except for the after work hour only about a third of them are occupied when i go there. I suppose if you are buying ground meat and canned goods or frozen stuff you don’t mind someone picking out your items. I suppose it saves some time vs going in the store, but I can’t handle someone picking out my proteins and produce. And I really don’t mind the long walk but at peak times it’s hard to find any spaces and there are always several empty curbside pickup spots. Are some people still afraid of shopping in person or is it a time saving thing?
  2. Not sure between those two, but it’s the SAE’s Alpha chapter. Their house looks like a nice country club’s main clubhouse. I’ve heard they are a very good fraternity there.
  3. I’ve always thought it odd that these beings from another world have the technology to get here and when they get here they . . . crash! Or did we shoot them down? If so, they have shitty defenses.
  4. My experience as well and I’m 61. I meet with a large group of my fraternity brothers at least once a year for a golf weekend and my best friends are guys I met in the fraternity and at other fraternities at UT. Early 80’s UT Greek life was a blast. However, no way in hell would I pay $4k for a consultant. But my daughters were legacies and had no trouble getting in. If you are a legacy at UT they have to cut you very early—I think the first day, and if they don’t you are in unless you choose another sorority and that happens occasionally. it’s pretty much the same for my wife. She is still very close to many of her sorority sisters and a few girls in other sororities that she met at UT.
  5. No suits? What about weddings? I own several suits and a tux. I wear the tux two to four times a year. I don’t have any tattoos and I don’t understand the concept, and I think it’s gross. That said, if it makes you happy it’s no skin of off my nose. I pay for my music and I cut the cord four or five years ago. I hate most modern music. It’s like fingernails on a chalk board to me.
  6. .5 inch yesterday in 77057. Enough to fuck up my golf game.

    Tipping

Two things. I don’t mind tipping a server 20% and up for good to great service, I expect to do that. And 20% is not the base for even shitty service. I’ll go lower if I’m certain it’s the server’s fault. Second, I just don’t carry much, if any, cash around these days so without a credit or debit card transaction involved I’m not throwing cash around to some that might deserve a tip. Oh well.
  8. So do Ted and his ex get back together or do they just agree to be good parents to their son? Internet chatter goes both ways. My take is that it was made intentionally unclear so you can believe whatever you want.

    Getting old sucks

Yep. My 87 year old mother has had both eyes done and she sees way better than I do.
  10. You know what you’re talking about. How dare you post in this thread.
  11. Congrats to Bradley. Classy guy.
  12. Duke, hope you get better. Not sure how old you are, but if you went to UT in the 80’s, or possibly even the early 90’s, we know some of the same people. Many of these are cliches but I’ll say them anyway. Don’t give up. It’s always darkest before the dawn. With your background at UT and your success there, it shows that you have the ability to succeed in life. Just keep at it. You can always start over. You undoubtedly have many friends. Reach out to them. They really do care. If booze is weighing you down, then go to AA or other program that fits. Find a mentor/sponsor to see you through it. life is beautiful. Just look around. Keep looking for your niche and eventually you’ll find it.
  13. Because these were rich dumbasses. If they had been poor dumbasses that found the Willy Wonka golden tickets they would be brave explorers and their relatives would be rich with Gofundme money.
  14. Paul Prumodme’s coconut shrimp. It was very good.
  15. Really? Those are the free drops they get that we never get at our home course.
  16. Damn. Can’t even see Fowler’s ball in the rough. Hope he doesn’t whiff.
  17. A great leaderboard, except maybe for Clark—just because I haven’t really followed him, seems like a decent guy. I’m happy with any of the leaders winning this.
  18. Yes, I get the point. I don’t particularly care about the gallery. I just want to see good golf. The course played easier this week for a couple of reasons but it’s still a great venue. I’m loving it.
  19. The course is awesome. It’s on a lot of top 20 in the country lists. It’s a great club too. They rarely, if ever, let in entertainment industry people. That’s a huge plus. It’s a bunch of lawyers, doctors, bankers, etc., that love golf. I was fortunate to play it in 2016 and it’s an amazing place.
  20. This. SNPA is still my favorite ale. Just the right weight and bitterness.
  21. Different tax structure than Texas and some other states. Property taxes in California are relatively low. The better country clubs in Houston, for example, pay around $1 million or more per year in property taxes on a value that's probably less than 5% of the value of LACC. So it's apples and oranges.
  22. I haven’t seen it in a while so not sure if they continued making it after the Japanese bought it, but Liberty Ale used to be amazing.
  23. I like it as well. Yeh, the cops should have found the little dipshit brother much sooner. He was hiding a block away from the abandoned stolen Benz in a boat with blood clearly visible on the plastic cover. My big take away is the number of people who recognized one or both of the terrorists and fucking did nothing. Fuck them. The MIT campus cop might not have been killed had someone called the FBI. And fuck the roommates who actually impeded the investigation. Glad they did some time.
