  1. ^^^ This. It’s not the arrow it’s the indian.
  2. The area covered by SETRAC (25 counties, 9.3 million people-my earlier 8.5 million number was a little low) has 291 confirmed and suspected Covid cases in the ICU. Lowest amount since November 7.
  3. The emails each say that unless you delete the app you’ll continue to get YTTV unless the other one discontinues the service. And there’s no new customers. So it sounds like you’ll continue to get YTTV over Roku. Just don’t delete the app.
  4. That’s why I watch SETRAC.org’s hospitalization numbers on a daily basis. It’s more real time. The hospitals in the 8.5 million person SE Texas region have been showing significantly improving numbers since January. Today’s ICU bed numbers are the lowest since early November and general bed usage is the lowest since mid November.
  5. Many of those deaths could be from several months ago. I follow the daily reported cases at KHOU.com and for Houston you can hover your mouse over each reported death and the details pop up (age, race, co-morbidity, actual date of death). There is at least a two week delay in the actual date of death and more often the actual date of death is from 2-5 months earlier than the date the death is reported. Today, for example, only four of the reported deaths actually occurred in April 2021 and one person actually died last December.
  6. Highly recommend The Splendid and the Vile by Eric Larsen. It’s about my Avatar’s family life during the blitz. London life continued largely uninterrupted while around 45k civilians in the city were killed in the bombings. Churchill’s daughter attended deb parties in the city while bombs were falling. One night a bomb destroyed their late night after party venue. They just went to another bar. I love their defiance. They were not pussies. God how I hate the 21st century.
  7. Just finished Shirer’s The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich for the third time. Hitler was one lucky SOB for a long time. Evil too, of course.
  8. They say one fiber, just one, of asbestos in your lung can stay there and cause mesothelioma 30 years later. But I’m betting it’s a million to one shot. I wouldn’t worry about it.
  9. The harshness of the accent. Some of the ones I grew up with in west Fort Bend County seemed to have just stepped off the boat.
  10. Some public clubs occasionally hold demo days and if the rep is good he knows how to fit you. Wildcat in Houston used to hold demo days a few times a year and most of the mfgs were there. Not sure if they still do it. I don’t recall it costing anything. I bought a driver at one of them several years ago.
  11. That sounds like the Thomas Jefferson Bordeaux that ended up being fake.
  12. Damn. I’ve been enjoying my setup with Roku/YTTV and I haven’t thought about alternatives to YTTV. What’s the next best service for local channels and the basic cable? I suppose I could replace the Rokus with firesticks.
  13. Shingles vaccines were 10x worse post shot than Pfizer Covid vaccine. And that’s common. It’s also a two dose vaccine. The first and second doses gave me a mid level fever. Only the second Pfizer dose gave me a slight fever.
  14. It’s a great game. Surprisingly easy for people who would not consider themselves to be great athletes to pick up and enjoy. The nature and rules of the game also have a way of bringing say a very good tennis player down a few notches. Good game for couples followed by cocktails.
  15. Entrust Immediate Care on Memorial Dr. across from the Black Walnut had a popup tent offering free no appointment vaccines this morning. They have been doing it since Wednesday. I’m guessing there are locations all over town and I assume other clinics are doing the same. There was no line at 9:00 this morning.
  16. What neonmoon and fud said. For a very inexpensive but drinkable bourbon try Benchmark 8. You might like it more than bourbons 2 or 3x the price. I refuse to pay $$$ for alcohol and I don’t have the patience to drive all over the place looking for the hard to find but reasonably priced bourbons so i pretty much stick with BT, Weller SR, WT 101, and Evan Williams BIB. When you have several different bourbons on hand try them blind. You might be surprised what you find out. Label bias is a thing.
  17. Are you considering selling it? If not, why does the current market price make you want to wait to drink it? If you are concerned about the replacement value then you may never drink it.
  18. ISWYDT. He and his wife, as well as the other victims, did get back a bunch of their money.
  19. I just sealed my coping not the decking. Never had a problem with decking not being sealed. Every week or two I would hose down the coping and the decking with fresh water as a precaution. I resealed the coping every year. Never had a problem and I would never have a pool without an SWG.
  20. When you get to 58 you don’t give a rat’s ass about other guys in the gym. It’s about staying in shape and not about bulk. I’m trying to maintain weight and staying fit.
  21. I might have had the bowel movement issue as well. But it’s hard to say that the second shot caused it.
  22. Gold spoons and soft plastics have always been my top choices in the surf. Mirrorlures too.
