  1. Years ago I worked at a 4-story office building out by Mopac and Steck. Each floor where you came out of the elevator looked the same, so they had a big 2’x2’ sign hanging on the wall across from the elevator with the floor number on it. One day when my assistant and I were bored we reversed all the signs. It was pretty funny watching people come out of the elevator and do a grandpa Simpson, only to come right back again.
  2. This. If you want to be cremated, I would highly recommend the Neptune Society. You can pre-purchase a package at today's price. They take care of everything - come pick up the body, provide a pastor/counselor if needed, take care of social security and other notifications and provide death certificates. My parents did this, and it took the worry out of all of it, I had to to very little other than to go to their office to pick up paperwork, and to pick up the urn and stuff afterward. I plan to do this so my spouse/kids don't have to hassle with anything. The current price for all of this is $3200 per person, which IMO is pretty reasonable.
  3. It’s pretty clear to me personally why Austin isn’t like it “used to be”. When I moved here in 1984 there were 450k people in the metro area. Now? There are 2 million more than that. That’s a lot of fucking people, nothing can absorb that and stay the same.
  4. Their policy is conservative. By definition, don’t change.
  5. It is your fault, own it. Bootstraps for thee, not for me, it’s ok to be a former Republican. My smell makes me a little skittish, but not so much that I can’t forgive you.
  6. What about the caravans, and fentanyl?
  7. We’ve stopped them aborting babies, just keep keeping then scared of the negroes! Hurry, times running out!
  8. Sorry for your loss. Go ahead and dox, in this case I don’t think immamac cares.
  9. No shit, Sherlock, but that’s how some people operate. They want to please honestly, but over extend and fuck things up. Mind you I’d rather do one job really well than screw up five. But I think that’s what we’re talking about here. In other words I don’t think he intentionally screwed someone, just in over his head and couldn’t figure out how to fix it. He is from Florida I believe.
  10. Lol but it’s because he’s trying to help. Never let a friend help.
  11. I’ve known ROFLBOX for quite a few years, more than 10 anyway. I find it hard to believe he would maliciously screw anybody. Seems more like a person who over promises and inevitably under delivers because he wants to be liked and successful.
  12. Yep, I've camped many, many times from Matagorda down to Port Mansfield. It was tolerable when I was young but now it's just a beating, particularly when you have to haul everything in and out like on PINS. Also slept in my truck numerous times overnight on Matagorda and at Oyster Lake, sometimes in freezing ass weather. These days I am all about a VRBO or cheap hotel room. If you HAVE to sleep on the beach, a tent-cot is the way to do it. @troph your brother knows it’s a beating even when you’re youngish, if you drink too much. I’ll never forget him waking up that morning realizing his prized custom rods had been eaten by the surf.
  13. And going back to shunning anyone who flirted Republicanism, well, I'm not so sure you're being shunned as it is you are feeling like a dumbass for being gullible. I was fortunate to have a pretty astute old man. He dabbled in Libertarianism for a bit until he figured out the party mechanism were mostly nutcases and vote-sucking proxies for the GOP. If he had any artistic sense, he would have compiled the Rupert Murdoch "cookie" cartoon long before it was popular. He taught me that the mantra of "less government" and "lower taxes" really meant "less government for those other people, and lower taxes for me". Growing up in a rural, old farming community that particularly hit home for me since most of the people spouting that bullshit rhetoric were living on farm subsidies, Social Security and Medicare. But they'd be goddamned if anyone else was gonna get any of that. That's what it's been all along. Bootstraps for thee, government for me. And if it takes hate, hurt and demonization to accomplish that, so be it. To be fair he hated the Democrat party too, but at least in his eyes, their dysfunction was toward positive change for society.
  14. Don't forget his Karla Faye Tucker moment either. That was completely compassionate.
  15. I’m willing to bet pancake didn’t get shipped to a black persons house on Christmas Eve, because he was chocking on Cornyns brisket and had to go to the ER.
  16. FIFM.
  17. Last time I was there, about a year ago, that’s what I had. I think they charge a buck extra for it after 11, but I didn’t care.
  18. Also you can get the breakfast enchilada plate anytime. 2 cheese enchiladas topped with 2 fried eggs, refried beans and fried potatoes instead of rice.
  19. I was hunting outside Llano. Finally shot a doe right before dusk. My feet were freezing in the blind and hands hurt so bad I could barely gut it. Took it back to camp, hung it up, and decided to go in the shack to warm my hands at the fire. Went back out to skin it about an hour later, and she was frozen solid. I said fuck it and went back inside.
  20. Here he is with my grandma. My grandma (seated on running board) and some of her friends. Armybrat probably dated one of them.
  21. My paternal great grandpa “Mac” worked for International Harvester in Houston. He’s the guy pictured on the horse up above. Apparently he traveled the world a lot selling equipment. He took this pic in Malabar. Wholesome.
  22. My GG grandpa fishing on the old Galveston causeway His son, my great grandpa rounding up some cattle.
