  1. I sure hope I don't look like current Dave Mustaine.
  2. Only drawback to going this time of year is that it's monsoon season up in the mountains. About a 50% chance of an afternoon shower just about every day for the next several weeks. Can be out riding or hiking in sunny weather, low 80's and all the sudden the wind starts whipping around, temp drops 15+ degrees and it starts dumping on you.
  3. Wife and I booked our annual Colorado trip this weekend. Heading up to Aspen with a side trip to Crested Butte late next week. We usually schedule this trip in late August or early September, but with the way things are looking lately, can't get out of Texas fast enough. God I can't wait to wake up to mid-50's that first morning.
  4. Uh, where are you seeing $112? I think you mean $102 (+13% from $91). On a similar note, natty is back up near $7.50, highest level in about 5 weeks (Freeport LNG fire).
  5. I mean, it's not like something fans haven't been clamoring for going on 20 years now. Obviously would have been better to see when the Abbott brothers were still alive.
  6. Phil and Rex are going out on tour in 2023 as Pantera with Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante from Anthrax on drums.
  7. That was not a fun series to watch. Way too much stress involved in taking 2 of 3 against the utterly dysfunctional Halos. Aside from Wednesday, most of their offense consisted of our defense shitting on our own dicks. That said...we just won a 5th straight series with some really shitty lineups. We look absolutely deflated dragging ourselves towards the ASB and yet we're still winning more often than not. I'll take that over the alternative.
  8. At least you didn't get completely skunked. The bottom of the sky fell out right over my office off Washington starting at about 4:50. By 5:00 there were rivers running down the righthand lanes and you could barely see in front of you. By 5:15 or so, it was done and gone. One of the quickest, strongest storms I've seen in a long while. Dropped damn near an inch in 20 minutes.
  9. Gained it all back, plus a few nickels and pennies
  10. Sorry for the false hope, looks like you're boned again.
  11. Patience man. Cavalry is riding up from the south to meet up with the northern storms around 4:00 this afternoon.
  12. I hesitate to use a word that's in any way equivalent to "cool front", but weather.com showing max temps for Houston of 93 tomorrow and 95 Friday, with noon temps just below 90 both days. That can't possibly be right.
  13. MAGA not gonna let lefties have a monopoly on fake hate crimes. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-fan-accused-of-faking-political-hate-crime-insurance-scam-2022-7
  14. One other thought, all season I've kept holding out hope for Gurriel to at least get back to being slightly above replacement, but that infield fly with bases loaded, no outs last night was just the epitome of his season so far. Prime Gurriel would have smashed a bases-clearing 2B or at least hit a deep sac fly. This Gurriel is just plain washed.
  15. Hopped in bed last up 5-1, figuring I could go to bed early. Checked my phone during the middle of the 7th-inning debacle. Ended up staying up until final out b/c I knew if I didn't, I'd wake up at some point in the middle of the night and check the final score and if we had ended up losing, I'd toss and turn and get absolutely no fucking sleep. That would have been the dumbest fucking loss of the year, barely eclipsing the Maldonado Meltdown on Saturday.
  16. This is in no way exclusive to BBQ joints. I find it's even more common at popular "order at the counter" coffee shops/bakeries. There is a giant menu on the wall, printed menus in a basket by the door, and you can literally see all the pastries and shit while you're in line. And yet people (i. e. women, especially older women) will wait until they get to the cashier and then start trying to figure out what they want and asking inane questions.
  17. Random squall just pounded my office for about 10 minutes and then moved on through. Looked like 8 pm and raining sideways down here on the bayou but blue skies are already returning.
  18. What's the opposite of a dead cat bounce? Live dog stumble?
  19. San Diego Meteorologist gotta be the easiest job on earth. "And we turn to our 5-day and wouldn't you know it, sunny and in the high 70's cooling to the low 60's after sunset. Be careful this weekend folks, as we're looking at a major heat wave that will have temps soaring to 3 or even 4 degrees above average."
  20. I have that exact same watch. Used to wear it almost every single day back in the before times, but now I only wear it when I'm "dressed up." Most days at the office I'm in jeans and a polo, so just wear my more comfortable leather strap Citizen ( posted on page 4).
  21. There will be a line starting right before they open at 11, but it always moves pretty quick. I don't think I've ever stood in line for more than 15 minutes total.
