  1. Contributions toward relief have topped $29MM. Good read. https://philanthropynewsdigest.org/news/early-support-for-texas-flood-relief-efforts-tops-29-million
  2. Fair points. Those of us from shag that shoveled, swept, carried, shoveled more and everything else in Wimberley over a day / two can attest that it was physically and, just as much, emotionally challenging. The things you see will be forever burned into your mind. They still are 10+ years later. But when you drive away in the evening(s) just completely sapped physically and / or mentally everything else is secondary knowing that you've helped in some little way in a situation where a lot of littles add up to something pretty big.
  3. Yep, the first thing I thought of when the missing list began to grow was Wimberley and not ever recovering all of the bodies. Just one has been recovered in the last 24 - 48 hours. You can only cover so much ground or dig so deep. It's hard to think about how many bodies will never be recovered. No closure that will just shatter the families even more.
  4. The sobering and grim reality of the search effort: https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/10/us/kerr-county-texas-flooding-search-efforts
  5. Llano / Mason area getting hammered - 2-3 inch / hour.

  7. That is one strong and amazing man. Thanks for posting.
  8. So comical but yet so very sad. Come on, man. Really? Dear fucking lord.

  10. No doubt. And the additional, sad fact in this situation is that there likely will be bodies that are never found. A final gut punch - no chance for a final goodbye, no chance to lay a loved one to rest. This was the case with with the Charba and McComb families in Wimberley. The bodies of their young children were never recovered. And the number of bodies involved with this tragedy is obviously much greater than what we saw in there so this additional, unimaginable fate will likely be a reality.
  11. There were many very sad takeaways from Wimberley but one of the acutely worst ones was that the Charba and McComb families never found their 4 and 6-year-olds. The brutal and unbridled tragedy of losing a (very) young child is an unimaginable thing. Not finding them and at least getting a chance to say goodbye and lay them to rest is another level that is beyond comprehension. As you point out, this could be playing out on a scale that is beyond terrible and sad. Just a nightmare all around.
  12. SIAP. 22 year old swept away in a vehicle with her family near Ingram. Survived for 20 miles downstream and found in a tree near Center Point. Went over 4 dams. Dodged RVs, refrigerators and god knows what else. No word on her family. Damn.
  13. Damn, that blob of intense rain NW of Austin just sat there. Seen that picture before. https://cbsaustin.com/weather/radar

  15. Yes, there's a reason said judge was nowhere near tonight's presser.
  16. Indeed. Life can flip a switch really quickly.
  17. Okay, a piece of useful information - 18 camps impacted today.
  18. Out of this entire debacle of a presser the only real person has been the mayor of Kerrville. He didn't say much but he was devastated at the first presser and was the same tonight. I feel for him. I don't feel much for the other people in front of the cameras right now.
  19. Whoa, this guy is talking about a "risk" of evacuating people to higher ground.
  20. 24 fatalities.
  21. 24 confirmed fatalities.
