  1. At my first game in a while. It is hilarious that Jared Thomas’ walk up music is Snake Farm. Well done.
  2. Is Chris Johnson a rotation player? I am hopeful he adds something next year. I am starting to really like Mitchell - for what he is - but he feels like a transfer this offseason for some reason. Pure speculation. But he gets like 14 and 10 just about every game these days by purely being the best athlete on court. If dude could just figure out a shot.
  3. I’ve been doing breaks on Fanatics.Live recently. It’s dangerous but has been a lot of fun. Got about 8 icons including a cool Nolan Ryan /10 with Astros and rangers. Also just hit on a Bijan 1/1 from Panini Ultimate Football. Will send picture once I get it. Two questions: 1. I have several dozen cards worth $5-$20. Would love to just sell them in groups at a discount (particularly the rookies) to recoup some costs but that seems hard. Any ideas? 2. Should I send all of the Icons off to be graded? My understanding is that if it’s sub $50 it’s not really worth being graded but happy to learn. Edited to add the Nolan.
  4. I think the thing that everyone finds hilarious is that a half dozen shots (maybe) of the Swift suite during a 4 hour game gets to you.
  5. None of this fucking matters as to why he got fired. If we are arguing whether it's OK to call him an abuser or not, then I'll step out, because I frankly don't care. And if you think he should have been fired as you note above, then you need another Elsa post. We all are in violent agreement that he should have been fired. After that, who gives a shit? He didn't go to jail, and he landed a decent gig that will likely vault him back into something equivalent to Texas or better.
  6. Why are people white knighting for Beard still? I don't get it. At the very least, he showed absolutely horrible judgment worthy of termination. I wanted the dude to succeed. We are same age and grew up in same area, so it was cool that we hired him. But what happened was going to happen with that pairing at some point, and he didn't have the good sense to hit eject before it bit him in the ass. And to follow that (and I get it was on advice as counsel) he didn't exactly cover himself in glory after the fact. Good on him for doing well at Ole Miss. Sorry you blew your shot at your dream job because either you did what you were accused of or couldn't step away from a ticking time bomb that would embarass the university. I am sure he is next in line at Kentucky, though, when Cal retires. So, yeah.... he'll be fine.
  7. This got a lot wrong. I don't fully understand why the hillbilly posse stormed the hospital? What was that? I don't have the same allergic reaction to this season as a bunch of y'all do. I'm enjoying it.
  8. Should have clarified as “writing” royalty. Tim Herlihy (Sandler’s writing partner) is the curly hair guys dad, and Steve Higgins was a writer on SNl and now in Tonight Show and is the dad of the short guy. Red head has no nepotism, I guess.
  9. Yeah. Didn’t realize two of three were from SNL royalty. Nepotism joke was funny. The Jerry Springer skit was great. And DJ in that skirt for the talk show scenes wasn’t bad.
  10. I can’t believe how old Alanna Ubach looks in this show.
  11. I am liking it, too. I imagine if the Cohle thing is anything more than an Easter Egg, it's his brother, not his father given timelines. But who knows? My guess is that none of the easter eggs really pay off and it's all fan/Reddit service. My prediction is that the one dude not in the ice went nutso and walked everyone out there, and Jodie Foster more or less told us exactly what happened in her lesson to the young cop in the hockey rink (hypothermia induced psychosis, etc.). The only thing weird is that the TikTok cooks phone went haywire right after the guy said "She's awake". Anyway, Season 3 was the same way, and it basically told us so in the episodes leading to the finale - but we wanted something much more sinister. All that said, I am enjoiyng it and looking forward to the internet losing its shit when nothing extraordinary happens vis a vis all the random theories.
  12. Pretty bad finale. In for season 3 anyway.
  13. Yeah, fuck that noise. It was always OK firing Beard. And fuck him and his bad judgment. Making RT permanent (which I was marginally opposed to but understood) came with this exact risk, and we have to be willing to accept it and to fire fast here. I imagine the next 6 games are going to make that decision easier.
  14. His temper tantrum last night should get him fired.... now. That said, next 6 games are against ranked teams so likely can let him run that gauntlet, leave no doubt, then have Ogden take over with absoluteclarity that he will not be the head coach next year.
  15. He's done. He signed his death warrant last night complaining about Horns Down. When a coach does that he has less than a year because he's lost the wheel and is grasping at petty shit to complain about.
  16. I liked it. It’s Dead Poet Society if Robin Williams was a dick and everyone hated him.
  17. Started Death and other Details on Hulu. It is derivative as fuck - combo Knives Out meets White Lotus meets Only Murders.. meets Succession. That said, first episode was intriguing. May or may not deserve its own thread.
  18. We had a blast last week for the game. Wife and daughter are celiac, so eating out is a struggle. We were wary of NoLa but it delivered. Did Twisted Waffle and Bearcat for breakfast. Both were great. Bearcat has a better menu, worse service. Dinners at GW Fins (delivered); Deanie’s (gf fried food and fryer for the win) and found this little interior Mexican restaurant in CBD whose name I can’t recall that was excellent. Bon in Jackson Sq (near Landry) had gluten free “beignets” which were pretty solid and they made the best to go hurricane I can remember. So for those Celiacs out there I give it a thumbs up!

Been to Red Farm downtown twice. Really good. Way too expensive. I am not sure it’s getting the foot traffic it anticipated either. I thought it was going to be a very difficult reservation (not Ref Ash difficult, but maybe ATX Cocina) and it isn’t.
  20. Enjoying the Brothers' Sun and am through the episode after Rolodex episode, but..... And would Alexis even though she's a daytime soap level actress.
  21. Sorry if already broached, but I was listening to Russillo this morning and he asked the question "Is Alabama "Alabama" without Nick Saban?" They have a ton of resources, obv, but I think there is some merit to that question given the lack of success (outside one Stallings year) between Bear and Saban. I agree with those upthread that NIL is going to favor teams in or near big cities. There is just more opportunity beyond the alumni-base for kids to get paid. If Caleb Williams was playing at OU still, does he get the Wendy's or Dr. Pepper deals? So I think there is merit to almost anyone Bama is talking to saying, "Nah, I'm good," to the point where this may go on a while, or at very least, result in a surprise hire that isn't going to make the fans too happy. I don't think I take that job if I am anyon of the guys that are in the mix now. Kiffin would take it, but they aren't hiring Kiffin given the way he exited. I wonder if they'll go after Drink at Mizzou?
  22. Michigan somehow pulled USC, Oregon, and Washington on their schedule next year in addition to us and Ohio St. I presume Washington and USC are probably down, but that is going to be a gauntlet Will test how deep they really are + recruiting presuming they lose 12-15 players to draft and Harbaugh Oregon pulled both Michigan and Ohio St. UCLA misses both. With these unbalanced schedules, I think making 12 team playoff has almost as much to do with who you hit in conference as anything. UT and Aggy need to take full advantage next year because the SEC schedule isn’t going to get any easier. Separately, and this is another discussion for another thread, how many years until a team rests guys Thanksgiving weekend or even in the CCG game NFL week 18 style, to avoid injury for playoff? Last year was fluky so not a perfect example, but if Big XII CCG was the last game played and results were known, why would TCU want to risk injury if they are still top 4 with a loss? I imagine that in that scenario the committee makes Bama 4 and TCU 5. That’s also why 16 teams would have been a real problem. At least with 4 teams getting byes there ought to be a lot to play for everyone. But the scenario will bubble up one year for a team locked into too 4 or 8-12 range.
  23. Do all the Buford Pusser/Walking Talk/Roadhouse rich guy runs a town but FAFOs with the new badass in town count? Also, for the six degrees of Kevin Bacon, Death Sentence (underrated flick), and, I guess, Wild Things?
  24. Ackman tripled down on the de-SPAC market and basically laughed at anyone that questioned whether it was really a viable long term route that was superior to underwritten IPOs. Then he had to unwind the Pershing Tontine. I am not going to say the guy is dumb. He obviously is very smart. But his hubris is of fucking Greek tragedy proportions.
