  1. The difference between me and Karen is that I knew I was wrong but could put together a responsible argument.
  2. I did a similar thing as this once but it had to do with checking into a hotel after a late arrival. When I arrived at the hotel they said that I did not have a reservation for that day and that they were "full". I immediately realized that I had messed up with the online reservation. Not to be totally defeated I was going to do my best to put it back on them that they must be wrong, afterall, I was dealing with the overnight shift hotel front-desk folks that most likely did not want to be there. Through a few choice words and feigned anger they found an open room and I was able to check in with no penalty.
  3. Personally I am not much of a user of cuss words but in my industry it is abundant in use in everyday affairs. It also depends on what level of meetings you are in as to what cuss words may or may not be used. If women are around it is toned down a "bit". I did call a guy out on a flight once to shut up because he went on a F-bomb tirade because someone slid his carry-on bag about a foot forward in the overhead compartment. There were a lot of women and some kids on the flight. He shut up quickly.
  4. Yep, me too. I have always enjoyed going to Morgantown. That was always my Texas “away game” to attend.
  5. I was reading the obits in the local newspaper today and there was an aggy that passed away. He was in the class of 1959. They mentioned that his name would be read during the aggy muster thing this coming April. The oddest thing about the obit was, as they mentioned his surviving children and extended family, they put in parentheses their respective university they attended and the year they graduated. Most went to aggy.
  6. I would think that most full size 4 door models would. My 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab Z71 Texas Edition does.
  7. I have always visited Yellowstone and GTNP "out of season" (mid-May and late October typically) to avoid the crowds. Granted some of the amenities are not open but I would rather deal with that than the insane crowds. The roads are typically two lane roads so if someone sees a bear, wolf, bird, etc. then they often stop in the road therefore backing up traffic until they have determined that they have seen enough and finally move on. Yes, Yellowstone is huge and a trip all by itself with a bit of time set aside for GTNP.
  8. Yes, The Black Hills are a bit remote but driving does not bother me. I fly alot so I prefer to drive whenever I go for a vacation or getaway. I drove from NE Texas to Teddy Roosevelt with an overnight stop in Grand Isle, NE on the way to Dickinson, ND. Spent about 4 days in that area (ND) and then drove down to Rapid City where I met up with my girlfriend as she flew up for the second week. We spent the entire second week in Rapid City doing day trips to the Badlands NP, Minuteman Missile NHS, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Devil's Tower, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, Keystone, etc. You can easily consume two weeks just in the Rapid City area if you took advantage of everything to do in the region. After the second week in Rapid City she flew back and I took a couple of extra days driving back hitting some more NPS sites back to Texas. Personally, I do not see the need to couple the SD/Black Hills visit with Yellowstone unless you have a lot of extra time to take off. I have done Yellowstone/Grand Tetons separately so that I do not feel rushed.
  9. About this time last year I was in North and South Dakota doing some hiking. Did some hiking in Teddy Roosevelt and the Black Hills. It was pretty cool weather to moderate weather for the most part. I was up there for 2 weeks. Cannot recommend that area enough. I am thinking about heading up to Idaho for a week or two later this summer for some hiking.
  10. Yeah. That is a solid “no” for me.
  11. Every time that I stand up my knees sounds like the backspin of a ratchet wrench.
  12. Back in April I was flying into ATL from SHV on a regional jet on a nice, clear day. We were making a nice and easy approach until when we were maybe 20 to 30 feet off of the ground when the pilot gave it full throttle and we quickly gained altitude. The pilot came on the speaker and said, “Ladies and gentleman, we are going to circle and make another pass”. That was the only explanation. Not sure if they started their approach too early/late or steep or if a plane suddenly crossed the runway? I flown over 2 million miles and that was my second aborted landing against one aborted takeoff that I have been a passenger on. The other aborted landing was due to poor visibility and the aborted takeoff was due to a hydraulic issue with the landing gear.
  13. People that gives zero cares about anything but themselves. Major storms just came through the area (NE Texas and NW Louisiana) late last week knocking power out. I was in Michigan on business when this happened and flew back into Shreveport late Friday afternoon. I did not have enough gas in my truck to make it all the way back to Texas and I was advised to get gas when and where I could. Some of the gas stations near the SHV airport were already out of gas so I got in line at the one station near the airport that did have gas. Naturally the line was spilling out into the highway with every pump lane at capacity. Many of the customers were paying by cash so they were having to take their own sweet time strolling into and out of the store and stopping to talk to just about everyone they knew. Plus many took their time getting in and out of their cars becasue they could not put their precious phone down. Took way longer than it should have to fill up. Also, many of the traffic lights in the area are not working. It is amazing on how many people would just blow right through the light with other cars stopped and proceeding properly. Or if they were forced to stop because the car in front of them properly stopped, it was crazy on how many people just followed the car in front of them without properly stopping themselves after seeing everyone else do the stop and go process. Ugh. Have some self-awareness and know the rules of the road.
  14. While on a flight people that use the back of the seat in front of them as a support for getting up and sitting down. Use the armrest on your own seat to raise and lower yourself. I would like to not be launched out of my seat by the recoil. Prank
  15. Recently had some potential customers out of the Houston area visit our factory. I provided a presentation and a factory tour. One of the guys wanted his picture taken with one of our earthmoving pieces of equipment. He stood against the tire and smiled and gave the thumbs up. All I said was, “aggy”? He nodded and said, “Yes”.
  16. Fantastic series but you do have to suspend belief at times.
  17. The illegally parked Tundra on the right completely blocked in the illegally parked healthcare car. Or did the illegally parked Ford block the car? All 3 are parked in an exit.
  18. Did not make it up to the Pilbara this time. Just stayed in Perth for meetings at the corporate HQs of the major mining companies operating in WA. If you are going to the Pilbara this is the time of year to go. The summers can be brutal up there along with the flies and other creatures that are not so nice.
  19. Wait, what? You are in the car with your wife and you are not driving? I am so confused.
  20. Recently stayed in the Crown Hotel in Perth. A nice, high-end hotel. There was a 3% or 5% surcharge on everything, inlcuding the room charges and stay if you used a credit card for payment. That adds up over a weeks stay.
  21. As stated already it is the Moulton Homestead Barn on Mormon Row in the Grand Teton National Park. It is one of the iconic images of the park. Been there a few times. It is highly recommended.
  22. Pics of uniforms from my collection of some brave soldiers that were total badasses that participated in the D-Day Invasion. I have uniforms of others that were in Normandy but came ashore later in the month. 56th Signal Battalion: 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. This soldier was later a POW in Germany but escaped to Czechoslovakia: B Company, 4th Infantry Division. This soldier was later WIA in July taking a bullet to the knee: 29th Infantry Division: 505th PIR, 82nd Airborne: 101st Airborne: 1st Infantry Division: COMZ, Armored Forces, Red Ball Express:
  23. Ummm…wow….this is beyond stupid.
  24. The above bolded is where I am. What if...I would like to think that my abundant cautioness these days is a direct result of industry, etc. constantly preaching SAFETY by identifying risks before, during, and after and mitigating them in some way and me taking those lessons into my personal life. In reality I am simply getting old and the agility, responsiveness, recovery time is simply not what it used to be.
