  1. I don't even watch games anymore, unless you count re-runs of old classic games on LHN. And those just piss me off even more, because they remind me that we used to be good at this sport.
  2. My nephew is a starting CB for Flower Mound, and last night they won their first-ever playoff game with a last-second victory over Keller. Their reward? A match-up next Saturday with Duncanville. Ouch. On the bright side, it gives me an excuse not to go to Waco next week. I fucking hate going to Waco.
  3. I'm going to L.A. next September to see a-ha. Really. Honest.
  4. Tom is a fun follow on Twitter. Definitely not afraid to say what he feels, and it’s clear that he still loves Texas.
  5. This has nothing to do with Episode IX, but I just wanted to mention that my 14-month-old son is obsessed with the first movie. We watch it (in 20 minute increments) three or four times a day. He points at the TV and breathes heavily when he wants to see Darth Vader, which is ALWAYS. I have a feeling I might see “A New Hope” about 499 more times until he’s old enough to find out about (and appreciate) “Empire” in a few years. And that is fine by me.
  6. I just had to hide a Facebook ad from A&M promoting the Arkansas game. It asked me for a reason for hiding the ad, and I really enjoyed selecting the "Irrelevant" option.
  7. Maybe Rice learned a lesson about charging $225 for lower level tickets....FOR A RICE GAME. I know they use this game to help fund their program, but c’mon.
  8. Finally got a good pair up close for Maiden in the Woodlands later this month. Can’t go to the Dallas show because I’ll be in Austin for the Okie State game, so I’m driving to Houston from Austin on Sunday for the show and then back home to Dallas. Gonna be a long day but I never miss Maiden.
  9. Just watched both seasons in about 4 days. Zabka deserves a fucking Emmy.
  10. The "MASTER" recordings on Tidal are pretty fucking amazing.
  11. Watching this rekindled childhood memories of watching "Damn Yankees" with my grandma. Unfortunately, the movie is out of print on DVD and not available for streaming on any of the major platforms. I did find a laser disc copy at my local Half Price Books for only $3.99, but now of course I need to find an actual laser disc player. Erp!
  12. Just bought plane tix for me and the wife to go to LA in early August. Gonna see Elvis Costello & Blondie at the Greek on Monday, Dodgers-Cardinals on Tuesday, and James (!!!!)/Psychedelic Furs back at the Greek on Wednesday. I love James and they rarely come to America-- and, of course, they are coming nowhere near Texas.
  13. This album is incredible. "Moonlight Motel" is Bruce at his absolute finest. Just a perfect song.
  14. To me, the worst part was Archie drinking a BOTTLE of beer. What the fuck? And it looked like an IMPORTED brand. Archie would have a shitfit if Edith brought him a Lowenbrau. I actually enjoyed "The Jeffersons" segment. I was so happy when Marla Gibbs appeared-- and yes, they did announce a different actress in the role. Great bait and switch.
  15. The tickets have been claimed. Go Rangers!
  16. Anybody want two free tix to the Rangers-Pirates game at 1 PM on Wednesday? I bought them earlier this year during the Opening Day + 1 sale, but we ended up planning a trip to Phoenix to see the grandparents. Tix are upper deck but relatively near home plate. I can transfer via the Rangers as long as you have a ticket account. If anyone is interested, just let me know... By the way, I will be at a game that day-- Yankees-Dbacks are playing at noon. Haven't been in that stadium since 1998.
  17. I've known for a while but didn't want to say anything until it became public. Paden was a great kid from an amazing family. As someone who was diagnosed with cancer at about the same age that he was, his passing hit me extra-hard. I am so lucky to still be here. And I am so devastated for my good friends that Paden is no longer with us.
  18. My wife is a Xavier grad, and she's on her way down to Austin for the game right now. I decided to stay in Dallas and watch the baby. I had to choose between two shit shows, and I went with baby shit instead of Shaka shit. It's more enjoyable. (By the way, my wife is awesome. I think I fell in love with her when we were watching a Xavier game at a bar and she screamed "Fucking box out!!" so loud that the whole bar just stared at her.)
