I became aware of the books when only the first 3 had been released. I read them back to back to back in a ridiculously short period of time and thought that it was easily the best story/world I had ever read about. Book 4 was a huge disappointment to me for lots of reasons. Book 5 less so, but still nowhere near the bar the first three books set. The pace of the books has been absurd for over a decade now. I have long given up on them; so many characters and story lines in 4/5 that I don't care about it. 1996, 1998, 2000 were the dates the first three books came out. Very reasonable delays considering the quality and the content of the books. But then it went to completely off the rails. Feast needed 5 years and was complete shit comparatively. Dance with Dragons, which was supposed to be the second half of Feast before he made them two books, needed 6 more years? And now its 8 years and counting and still no book 6? My god man. He's going to die before he gets the complete Song of Ice and Fire put to paper. When I heard they were making it into a show I was cautiously optimistic. I was blown away at how good they adopted the books to the screen. The show quickly passed the books to become canon for me. I bought the latest money grab GOT set book GRRM released last year but I have not even opened it, much less read a page. My favorite character is Arya by far. If I had to list 10 favorite GOT scenes she's in 6 or 7 of them. I can't wait to see her reunited with Jon and the Hound. Earlier take on the scene where Arya storms into the tavern/inn to get Needle back was the best in the series I think. The dialogue was perfect, Hound and Arya acting in the scene, perfect. "You lived your life for the King. You're gonna die for some chickens?" "Someone is." Game recognizes game and both Jon and Hound are heavy hitters and it will be very interesting to gauge their reactions to her. Her and Brienne's practice in S7 was great, I think this will be even better. Also hoping for an Arya-Red Woman scene. If Arya doesn't make it out alive at the end of this, I'm going to take it pretty hard. I also really hope the wolves are factor for once. They have really missed the mark with Ghost. There is a split second of the new trailer around 1:21-1:22 that appears to be a wolf pack on the move... I can't wait for the 14th. What a weekend that will be for me. Spring game at night on Saturday and then GOT premier the next day? I had a watch party for debut of S1 and I am going to have another one for S8. I have YouTubeTV...I need to find a reliable HBO stream option ahead of this. I am worried about load related failure that night. I remember when they rolled out HBO Now. I had HBO and access to it through Time Warner cable service...they put one of the episodes from S4 I think it was on Now early and the site went down immediately. What is the consensus best HBO streaming option?

Those numbers from Kyle on Twitter are great. I find it hilarious that we have almost 100 more SEC wins than aggie and they are sub 500 win percentage and 21 points less than Texas in their own goddamn conference.

This is not accurate. The chart the courts work off stops at 8550/month, if you make more than that its up to the judge. If you are making like 10K a month, they probably wont go off the chart. But people making 250K+ or so a year definitely pay more than $1710 for one kid. Also, all of those chart limits change every three years as they adjust for cost of living/inflation/whatever. Being a child support paying dad in Texas is bad. About the only state with a more archaic family law system is Louisiana. Once every three years the AGs office will helpfully sue the obligor for more support at the request of the obligee if your income has changed beyond a very small threshold. If the child is on any kind of state or federal welfare program, the AG does this automatically every three years. Source: I pay child support in Texas.

So the game Saturday beat the NBA game of the week head to head on ABC. That is quite a coup for CBS and the AAF.
-
Where did you see that? I read the players all get the same 3 year non-guaranteed 250K contract that pays 70 year 1, 80 year 2 and 100 for year 3. Also, the XFL should push their start back. I'm not sure why they would want to compete with the AAF when they don't have to. A 1 year head start for the AAF is going to be a massive difference especially since the XFL is paying about the same as the AAF. Why not start in late April when the AAF is wrapping up? Anyway, that was a great opening game for the league. I loved the pace and relative lack of commercials. Most of all I loved how the game was officiated. Not a lot of commission flags and the game had the physicality of P5 FBS football before Targeting became a blight on the sport.

I don't think there is anything similar to Bru/Fields/Tate's waiver situations. Fields was always going to get his. His application had a racial element to it and the NCAA was never going to kick that hornets nest in the hyper sensitive social media outrage era we are currently living in. I think Bru has a solid chance to get his approved though, mostly since he was only there for a few days, never practiced with the team and was in the portal before NSD2. I think the fact that he is going to a rising Texas program helps too. FBS needs more than just Clemson and Bama part 5. Tathan has a pretty weak case overall IMO. He's going to his third school because he can't handle competition. Boohoo.

Atlanta, you're fired.

Not sure if you are joking or not...it was one of those old places people used to drop off film for development. I mean regardless of what he hit, I think most teams boot you for a DWI these days. Also he got suspended over the summer for hitting his ex-gf and a cop. Allegedly. And in the Spring he got stabbed in a fight with a Texas hoops player. Dude had issues.

Mackovic was one smug bastard. That Rice loss was terrible. Lots of shit happened in/around that game that make it unforgettable for me. First, it was a Sunday night game in the middle of the season for some reason so it was basically all alone in primetime on ESPN as there was no Sunday night NFL game then. Texas was top 10-15ish. Lost a close home game to a Colorado team that featured Slash (earlier in the season he beat Michigan on a 70 yard hail mary with no time left), soon to be Heisman winning RB Rashaan Salaam who would later kill himself and Rae Carruth who would later have his baby momma killed. But coming off an emotional RRS win with the Stonie Clark goal line stop. A few nights before the game a group of players were caught after hours on 6th street and got suspended for the game. The guys that got caught all happened to be black. Well, there were lots of white players out on 6th that night who did not get caught. This caused a lot of discord within the team and there was some talk of players sitting in protest, though that didn't happen. This was also the week Mike Adams 'fell asleep behind the wheel' and demolished a photo booth with Pinkney in the car with him, so they got sat too. Speaking of this, what a difference a few decades makes in how things are prosecuted/covered. If that happens today its a DWI and you're off the team. With a three decade win streak vs Rice on the line Texas shits the bed and loses 19-17. Westbrook goes down with a knee injury that ends his season. I recall a couple other dudes got hurt too. Aggie game that year got moved off of Thanksgiving because they were, wait for it, under sanction and could not be on TV, win the conference or go to a bowl. They embarrassed us at home but we get an SWC co-champ because of a 4-3 logjam and either favorable tie breaker rules or hell maybe there were more than 2 co-champs because of shitty tie breaker rules. Finished the season 8-4 with a Sun Bowl victory over Mack Brown's Tarheels.

Players You Thought Were Wasted Talent/Surfire Stars on the 40 Acres
Hozz replied to d.plainview872's topic in Football
No, injuries and sharing a backfield with Ricky. True but Mackovic definitely did not know what he had in Holmes. -
I don't know man. The times we live in...not a lot of room for facts, just feelings. I think the NCAA grants his waiver.

Kyler Murray - The Savior or Satan of OU Football
Hozz replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
I don't like him at all and agree that there are a lot of intangibles working against him, but I think if his agent floats that he's all in for football, he'll be the first QB taken. And if I were him I would definitely choose football over baseball. I hate baseball though so there's that. But just the always on the road shit is not for me. NFL travel, and season, is so much less. Biggest reason though would be money. I heard from one of the sports pods I listen to that something like only 50% of players selected in the first round go on to play at least 3 years in MLB. 33% never play at all. It gets even worse when looking at college players taken in the first round, under 20% of them play at least 3 years in MLB. Contrast that with first round NFL deals and its a no-brainer to go football. Most 1st round draft picks end up getting all their money. Manziel is the outlier first round pick who gets cut before 4 years. Lots of them get the 5th year at a decent salary. So if he is the #1 overall pick and is Famous Jameis level of just ok, he's gonna pull 50 mil or so over 5 years. If he's actually good, 2nd and 3rd QB contracts in the NFL are fantastic and I think he has a far greater chance of landing in that territory versus the MLB guy getting in that money's neighborhood. -
Yeah she has some fake parts but Holly Sonders is pretty smoke to me. +rep to the person who said he lives a charmed life, that he does.

His NFL comp is Travis Kelce IMO. Kelce is bigger, but not by all that much. They play the game similarly and the Chiefs put Kelce all over the field the same way we did with LJH. I think the Cardinals will grab him at the very top of the 3rd.
-
He had maybe his best game against Tech...Kingsbury will have at least some say in who the Cardinals draft, I would not be surprised to see them reach a little for him. A year to learn under Larry Fitzgerald (if he returns) would be an amazing gift to any young WR.

2019 Championship game - Bama/Clemson version 3 - who ya got?

Actually, I did. Still think Alabama has this one under control. -
2019 Championship game - Bama/Clemson version 3 - who ya got?
Hozz replied to Wally Fairway's topic in Football
I am shocked the line is down to Alabama -5.5. They have completely dominated everyone they have played over the past two seasons except Georgia. I will be watching from start to finish but I will be surprised if its a close game. -
I mean, does he though? Manziel's play style did not seem coached to me. He had the throw to Mike Evans play and the beat them with your feet play. Mahomes got way better in the NFL. Mayfield left him. I do agree with you though, if the Cardinals hire him and he has a hand in getting Rosen on the right path, it will have been a good hire. I think Rosen is trash though and too smart for his own good and not physically gifted enough to make up for that, unlike Aaron Rodgers.
-
I don't get the Kingsbury hype. At all. He was not good at Tech. He had a losing record. He had Mahomes, who looks like the best young QB in the NFL, starting for two seasons and they went 12-14. The Jets and the Cardinals wanting to interview him, given his record at Tech and the fact that he has no NFL coaching experience, is evidence those franchises are run poorly. I can see why Klifford is upset with USC/Lynn Swann, but paying his own buyout so he could interview strikes me as cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I got the white Arabian you can get in the wild. Worth getting ASAP in Chap 2 IMO. I got the rose grey Arabian using that St Denis spawn point exploit, but they have since patched this out. I bought the Turkoman from St Denis in Chap 4 and that is the horse I ended up using the most. Much less skittish than the Arabians and the only thing that can kill it is a train. Not quite as fast and does not handle as well but it does both good enough.

I doubt ESPN's left leaning bias had anything to do with this decision but as a decision, its a hilariously bad one. The content in the OP, when I read it, I thought for sure it was from a parody account or something, as in not real. ESPN just can not stop shooting themselves in the foot. Jason Witten is objectively terrible at the job they are paying him to do. No one likes him. Cowboys and Vols fans probably mute him. Why on Earth would anyone at ESPN think it would be a good job to have a feed of the CFP title game with him on it? Especially in replacement to probably the most popular alternative CFP feed there was? Cable TV as a bundled service is bleeding out. The canary in that particular coal mine died about a year ago. That is how ESPN makes money so they're fucked. Not to mention they overpaid for pretty much every live rights package they have, in some cases incredibly so. Disney is going to spin ESPN off for pennies on the dollar at some point. My guess would be Amazon or Netflix buys them.

This. It took me forever to get a 3 star Badger pelt. Transition from Chapter 4 to 5 and then through 5 back to the mainland is the weakest part of the game IMO.

What a great couple of days of football. I don't watch a lot of high school, usually just the title games and the two all star games. Whittington in the Cuero game was the most dominant performance I have seen in my life. He took over the game. Literally took it over. He scored from the wildcat their first offensive snap of the game but then they went away from that a little bit. Cuero was down 21-7 and the Cuero coaching staff did something Herman should take note of. They quit what was not working and ran Whittington in the wild cat for 90% of the offensive snaps. They realized they had the best athlete in the stadium, probably the best player in Texas, and they said fuck it give the ball to 3 every play and let him win this for us. Offensive and Defensive MVP of the game. He had 3 TDs called back or overruled via replay and he scored again on the subsequent play all 3 times. It was fucking incredible. If you have not watched this game, you really should try and catch a replay or hit it on YouTube Some highlights Full game (shitty stream quality, catching it on FSSW would be ideal) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFmTGkOO7CM Other thoughts: Small sample size but I don't get the hype behind Evans. He did not look like the best player on the field, not even close, let alone the best RB in the state. To me, Aledo's McClellan is clearly better. I've seen him beast in 3 straight title games. I thought the North Shore QB and 19 were pretty impressive. Hell of an ending.

#6 looked pretty decent to me, just completely over shadowed by our guy. 3 star committed to Army apparently, Kieran Grant.
