  1. Or are we only seeing the best footage out of hundreds, if not thousands, of drops? These are great, but keep some perspective.
  2. Don't do this to yourself.
  3. Marriage license. Counting only the license, not ancillary costs.
  4. Depends on the tribe and location. The Comanche pushed most of the frontier line 100 miles east during the Civil War while most of the men were fighting each other elsewhere. The Navajo and Apache played hell in New Mexico and Arizona while the Union Army was busy with the Confederate Santa Fe expedition. Once the confederates were run out of New Mexico, the Union Army in the area shut them down pretty quickly. Many Cherokees fought for the Confederacy. One of Grant's staff officers was a Seneca. Like I said, it depends.
  5. The Gargoyles! How did I forget them? They terrified young Scheiss.
  6. I'm not an expert, so I'm sure someone will correct me, but I don't think that Kherson is easy to bypass and isolate like that. It is a major crossing point on the river, and it would be difficult for Ukraine to secure two bridgeheads, one above and another below the city to get into position for such an envelopement. Control of the city is also very important to both sides strategically and politically. As I understand it, by taking Kherson Ukraine would control the fresh water supply for much of Crimea. Losing that would be another heavy blow to Russia. If anyone can figure out how to get around this nut and crack it more easily, I think the Ukrainians can. So we wait and see.
  7. No, the horse turd is still there. Must have needed to take a piss or something.
  8. With. Definitely with the legs.
  9. Look at those happy faces! Don't they look like highly motivated patriots, given wonderful gifts in recognition of their service? Not cannon fodder, not them.
  10. Too close to home. But I grinned, because it made me think of my dad.
  11. Handing out tracts, no doubt.
  12. You can bet that there would be plenty to clean up. Ground isn't held until someone with a rifle is holding it.
  13. Other than the Embassy Guards for the area embassies, I would guess on ships in the Med. They can't get there by water due to Turkiye shutting down the straights, but they will find a way. Afghanistan has no sea access, and Marines got there just fine.
  14. I saw that yesterday and immediately thought that they are there to let Putin know that if there's any WMD bullshit, his army in Ukraine would vanish in a matter of weeks. The 101st is the warning. I can only imagine what isn't being shown.
  15. Yep. The training that I got was that combatants in civilian clothes may be considered spies and summarily executed under the Geneva Conventions. Not that Russia gives a shit, but most of the rest of the world does. If Ukraine chooses to go no quarter on them, nobody will give a shit.
  16. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for his resignation.
  17. Oorah!!! That's a Marine right there!
  18. I've seen that about 22 million have already applied for the student loan relief. Those 22 million need to remember who is opposing them when they vote.
  19. As an SFA alum (but not graduate), I would vastly prefer that they join the UT system. Bigger slice of the AUF, better governance, and higher academic expectations. I would also love to see the Forest Service put under UT/SFA and do away with the stupid Texas A&M Forest Service branding. Let it just be the Texas Forest Service, like God intended.
  20. Performance Improvement Plan - ostensibly intended to guide and encourage an employee to improving their performance and behavior while clearly explaining the consequences of failing to improve in the allotted time. In practice, at least in my experience, an extended torture session for both the supervisor and the recalcitrant employee because it is usually begun late in the discipline process, after the employee has proven repeatedly that they either cannot or will not fix the problem. They exist purely to 1) justify the existence of HR, and 2) provide documentation that you tried everything possible before firing the employee.
  21. Both of my parents were teachers and had these in their classrooms. When my dad showed it to my oldest (and at that time only) little brother and me, he told us to leave those alone because they could cut off a finger. Being the loving big brother that I am, as soon as my dad turned to something else, I tried to get my brother to put his hand on it so I could test that assertion. The sound of me struggling to put his hand in position drew my dad's attention, so I never got to find out if one really could remove a finger with one of those. But I still have time...
  22. The olds will remember that Jack in the Box restaurant signs used to have a clown head on a spring sticking out of the top of the sign, rotating around. My dad had us four boys convinced that if the clown saw you, you would be an aggy. My oldest little brother and I would watch for them, then hit the back floorboard when we saw one. If the two younger brothers got in the way, we just picked them up and threw them back in the seat. Pissed my mom off, but my dad cracked up, every time. And it must have been true. The one who usually ended up on top of the pile has a bachelor's from aggy.
  23. From the end of another meeting TEXAS!!!
