  1. Dang, Brat. I hope that she gets back to full speed soon. Having experienced it most of my life I can attest that hypoglycemia can be a bitch. Hopefully that's all it is.
  2. I have been with my current employer in various capacities for over 29 years. About 1/4 of the folks reporting to me are under 29. I have been in the industry for 37 years. About 1/2 of my reports weren't born when I started. One of them asked me to show him how we kept logs and made reports in cuneiform and teach him Sumerian. Asshole.
  3. That's odd. Our flows are lower than normal all of Thanksgiving weekend.
  4. Damn, Qatar went all out and hired Gandalf to do those.
  5. No lemon meringue? Get outta here with that. There's not a damn thing wrong with a good apple, blueberry, cherry, chocolate, coconut, key lime, or pecan pie. But none of them match the tart, sweet perfection of a good lemon meringue pie.
  6. And the cycle goes on...
  7. Nah, I've had good to really good tap water in a lot of places. Waco tap water comes from the Brazos. Good tasting surface water is hard to get, especially from rivers, but it can be done. I've had some decent tap water from surface sources in East Texas. Waco and the surrounding communities must not try to improve the taste of their water at all. It's downright nasty.
  8. Fuck Waco tap water. It even ruins tea.
  9. Weld up the holes in one of those disks, grind the welds smooth, then season the disk and a cook can make all kinds of kickass chow on it. Waste of good discas (sp.?), if you ask me.
  10. Doesn't look like they missed ol' Sergei. Looks like they hit him good.
  11. Poland welcoming Germany stationing military equipment on its soil. I'll take "Yep, WW II is really over." for $500, Alex.
  12. If you can get close enough, yeah. The trains they need to hit are well behind Russian lines, and you can bet that the Russkies are guarding their rail lines as much as possible. As much as we hear about partisan assassinations and scouting, it is notable that we don't hear much about Russkie train "accidents". I'm sure the partisans try, but obvious targets will be tough targets.
  13. Men who have gone to bed with a cheetah only to awaken to a wildebeest the next morning understand all too well.
  14. I'm sorry to hear that. Cancer has taken too many in my family, so tell your dad that I am pulling for him to kick cancer's ass for them. We'll be praying for y'all.
  15. Starting another wonderful day of work TEXAS!!!
  16. Semper Paratus and Semper Fidelis, RPM's dad. You rocked.
  17. I once dated a woman who worked in risk management at aggy back in the 80s. She told me that every semester they had to pay to clean and refurbish 2 or 3 of the apartments in the married student housing because Middle Eastern families would butcher sheep and goats in the apartments. The risk department repeatedly suggested that the school provide a place where Muslims could butcher animals following halal practices, but that was denied. Aggy is as aggy does.
  18. "Although that bartender looks a bit surly, if you catch my drift." I took it as a reference to Lonesome Dove, but, yeah, it could be a call out of this merry band.
  19. I thought that it was the neighbor's mule scratching its back on the corner of my trailer again.
  20. I'm not very familiar with Russian mortar rounds, but it appears that some of those rounds have their fuses in them. There are safeties in the fuses that require a set amount of time after firing before they arm, but storing ammo with the fuses in is a very big no-no. One malfunctioning fuse, and it can all go up. Maybe they're storage caps, designed to keep the fuse well clean, but if that's the case, why don't all of the rounds have them? Weird. I'm also a little taken aback that they are not boxed. Maybe that store is right next to a firing position and the rounds are prepped for rapid use. Still doesn't seem like safe storage to me. Disclaimer: while I was a 60mm mortarman, I never saw combat, so I don't know if this storage matches what our forces do in combat. I just know that it gives me the boo boo jeebies to think about working around that kind of storage.
  21. I don't think so. Douglas Munro, a Coastie, was awarded a CMH for his work driving a landing craft, rescuing Marines after an ill-conceived reconnaissance mission on Guadalcanal. Coasties regularly engage smugglers and fish thieves and lots of things that don't make the news. They are badasses in my book.
  22. I suppose that the missiles that hit Poland could have been Ukrainian S-300 missiles that were fired at Russian missiles and missed their target. We don't know, and may not for a while.
  23. If they go there will be trouble, if they stay it will be double.
  24. No. He's saying that the only defense line that Ukraine will not penetrate is the Russian border. The pre-2008 Russian border. In other words, leave and live; stay and die.
