  1. I understand. My favorite WW II warbird is the DeHavilland Mosquito. Several years ago I saw a video where the world's only flying Mossie crashed at an airshow in England. The pilot, who flew Mossies in the war and had returned his plane to airworthy condition, was in his eighties and had a heart attack during the flight. The Mossie dove straight into the ground. I guess that the guy died doing what he loved, but he took a one of a kind plane with him. I felt bad for him and the plane.
  2. Aren't there state laws against child porn? I get that the Feds can hit harder, but where is Paxton in this? Isn't that one of the planks in the state Republican platform? Why aren't Texas LEOs taking this maggot down?
  3. I mean, it's nice to see it polled, but file this under "Duh!" This has been obvious to everyone for a long while.
  4. I used to work with a retired Marine lieutenant colonel. I called him colonel one morning and he asked my if I wanted him to call me corporal. Point taken, sir.
  5. Lol, no. But to be fair, she didn't have much access to that kind of ammo. Couldn't beat her turnip greens and cornbread, though.
  6. Same, but mine was Polish. I could never eat enough to keep her truly happy. And I could freaking eat as a kid. My Grandma was a Scot, French, and English mutt. Babushka attitude transcends nationality.
  7. In Houston a couple of weeks ago it looked like they had the big boys (B-17, C-47, etc.) at one altitude and the fighters and trainers about twice as high as the big boys. A couple of times the Me-262 and P-51 buzzed down to the same altitude as the B-17, but with a lot of lateral separation. Today's incident looks to me like the P-63 got out of position and low, was trying to get back to his place in the formation, and misjudged his location relative to the B-17. But what do I know? I'm just an interested observer with no flying experience. The FAA report will tell the tale, no doubt.
  8. Two weeks ago tomorrow. I didn't get a good one of the B-17.
  9. I believe that my son and I saw both planes at Wings Over Houston a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful birds. My heart breaks for the families.
  10. Ships in port are easier targets. Let's give Ukraine ATACMS so they can hit them.
  11. Sounds like someone doesn't want a reenactment of Texas City or Halifax underneath a certain bridge.
  12. I've never done that. Now you've got me questioning my whole life.
  13. My Grandma would be just like that babushka. Even looks like her.
  14. If you aren't, no one is.
  15. Doomlet had himself a hell of a day.
  16. Needs to include "Gives Russian soldiers sunflower seeds to put in their pockets to be fertilized by their bodies."
  17. Thank you. I have been ruminating on how to say exactly this, and you did so more succinctly than anything I was coming up with.
  18. You just gave me a great idea. Thanks.
  19. Looks like an air burst to me. I guess you could liken it to a shot gun blast.
  20. This is a valid point, but I would argue that harnessing chemical reactions to propel projectiles is a more far reaching development. Not only propelling balls, bullets, or shells from barrels, but propelling shrapnel from mines, shells, and bombs. Add using explosives to cause pressure differentials to sink ships and submarines, or to bring down bridges and buildings. Gunpowder was the first step in this line of development, so it gets the credit, but it is not alone.
  21. I would add insult to injury by also billing them for the missiles that sank the Moskva, the truck and explosives that damaged the Kerch bridge, and the drones used in the attack on Sevastopol.
  22. I thought about going into history when I first got out of high school, but I just couldn't see any future in it.
  23. From my recliner on a much needed day off... TEXAS!!!
  24. In boot camp one of our DIs told us that you never run away in battle because it makes you an easier target. You present a large silhouette, and you can't shoot back. Light 'em up, Ukraine! Oh, and shooting an enemy combatant out of uniform, in civilian clothes, is also not a war crime.
