  1. Make sure to rope it off so no one else sits in your chair
  2. Alito can go fuck himself.
  3. Go to Koreatown and find some great Korean BBQ
  4. Trying to convince fatty of the benefits/needs of a progressive tax system
  5. Sorry - I now see my typo in the original post. I didn’t mean to state the Ds need a bigger tent today; rather I meant they have a bigger tent as compared to the Rs today. My apologies for not proofreading.
  6. As of today, the Democratic Party includes AOC and Joe Manchin. That’s a pretty big difference in views on his about every issue.
  7. Fatty - make sure you take a look at the various candidates as individuals especially in the state races. For example, assuming Collier ends up being the D candidate for Lt Gov, he may be an acceptable D. The Rs have earned being painted with a broad brush over the last 10 years; however, the current version of the Democratic Party has to have a bigger tent.
  8. Was about to post the exact same response - calling those protests violent is rich coming from the party who thinks January 6 was a bunch of tourists who ended up on the wrong tour
  9. Maybe they will call this bill the Fugitive Abortion Act of 2024?
  10. The difference - when the top marginal rate was 90%, everything was deductible including personal interest expense. Additionally tax shelters were allowed and every high income professional had passive losses offsetting their salary for tax purposes. Since the 80s, the basic idea has been to broaden the base and reduce rates. There are good arguments to be had related to raising marginal tax rates on the wealthy; however, any discussion around the former 90% rate is kooky talk.
  11. This court is going to be the end of this country as we know it.
  12. Instead of Tucker coming up in a 1 run game in the 9th - we get Nico - this is stupid baseball
  13. Interesting- I agree that an R loss is as good it will get in Utah
  14. Won’t McMullen caucus with the Rs and vote with them 99% of the time? I guess it would be a positive to have one less vote for treason and overturning elections but I think that’s the limit.
  15. I saw this tonight and was blown away. I’m trying to explain it to my wife and all I can say is - It’s about family, kung fu, laundry, taxes and buttplugs.
  16. Testifying doesn’t seem too problematic if she has done nothing wrong.
  17. No CR - all this talk about inflation in food prices makes me wonder about the renewable fuel standards - food probably wouldn’t be as expensive if 33% of our corn harvest wasn’t used for fuel
  18. If I recall correctly, Silvio wasn’t originally intended to be a central character when they made the pilot. Steven Van Zandt auditioned for the part of Tony and Chase like him so much that they created the Silvio character for him. After the pilot, they realized that the character was great and needed to be a key part of Tony’s crew.
  19. Title 42 is interesting. If Title 42 wasn’t in force, it may allow for removal proceedings or criminal prosecution for illegal entry. Instead Title 42 results in being immediately returned to Mexico where the person can try and cross again. On the messaging front, I certainly don’t want to see a return to the Trump messaging of separating families, etc. However, I acknowledge that there is a middle ground here which could hopefully slow the surge.
  20. I agree with you on this and the situation at the Border is terrible. What specific Biden admin policies do you think should be changed?
  21. Yes - I don’t like sitting Chas after a 2 hit night. Let’s see if he can keep it up. Of course, Maldonado could go 0 for 100 before Dusty considers starting Castro.
  22. The crude oil export ban was silly when you allow for the export of refined products. The true beneficiaries of that policy were US refiners who could buy US produced crude at an artificial discount and then export gasoline/diesel to Asian/European markets. As someone mentioned above, allowing the export of US crude actually reduced worldwide pricing and brought Brent/WTI closer. For offshore leases, any new leasing activity wouldn’t result in production for many years. It takes years to explore and develop a greenfield development. Also it’s extremely expensive unless you can utilize existing infrastructure. Capital is available for drilling but capital discipline is here to stay. If the companies tried to grow significantly, their investors would revolt because they want to get paid (probably for the first time since the shale boom started). Also, there would be significant services cost inflation if growth started which would shrink margins significantly.
