  1. I’m sure we’d take Harris in a heartbeat. Seems like maybe he could cover someone on third down.
  2. Ewers has to be drunk as a skunk out there
  3. The Invitation (2015) is one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years.
  4. Just wait until Quentin Johnston's 8th third and long first down reception on November 12. That should be a fun stroll down Tom Herman memory lane.
  5. I’ll watch this. Tremendous book. As an aside, I think a great reading path for WW1 is The War That Ended Peace (followed by The Dreadnought if you can stomach the overlap) > Guns of August > All Quiet On The Western Front (the flavor of trench warfare without the tedious monotony of the non-fiction tellings) > Paris 1919
  6. That album came out a month before my sophomore year at UT. Felt like that song was playing everywhere around Austin that year.
  7. It’ll probably be like that all season until Rudy gets played off the floor in a crushing second round defeat.
  8. Conner is a true Sophomore who was a 3 star recruit with a .88 composite ranking. Cole Hutson was just a smidge higher in the composite at .89, but of course is a true Freshman. It's kind of the opposite of surprising that those two are our worst lineman, IT bull shit notwithstanding. Agree with you that Jones' level of play is shocking.
  9. None of that changes the fact that we are recruiting at a much higher level on offense than defense, which was the original point. .91 is fine if you want to set a modest floor for your defense, with a chance to be a good defense with the right coaching and hitting on a few guys. Maybe guys like Mitchell and Burrell out perform their rankings, but relying on that outcome almost across the board (outside of Williams and Muhammad in the 23 class) isn’t ideal, particularly when we appear to have glaring coaching deficiencies on that side of the ball.
  10. I mean he’s not wrong, and the same thing happened to us this past offseason and I’m sure it will happen again. It’s the new landscape.
  11. I thought Wiseman looked pretty good last night considering it was his first NBA game in over a year. It's insane how much young talent the Warriors have accumulated while still winning 4 out of the last 8 championships.
  12. Ah, that it explains it. When I lived nearby in the UWS 8 years ago I was probably still ordering the house wine! Edit to add: If you can squeeze in another meal, consider Ko. A friend of mine is the Sommelier there, and she just won New York Sommelier of the year by Michelin. Her tasting menu is always super interesting and delicious. And the great food doesn’t hurt.
  13. Damn, well done. Nice Matin is just ok IMO, but every other place you listed is A+. Compagnie is in my regular rotation.
  14. Speak No Evil from this year is a movie I will remember for many years to come. Depraved. The Empty Man from 2020 was incredible.
  15. Tokyo is the absolute best if you love eating, drinking and seeing wild shit. Wife and I were in Japan 15 days a few years ago. Planned to do 6 days in Tokyo, 7 in Kansai using Kyoto as a base (Nara and Osaka day trips), and 2 in Hakone at an Onson. Unless you are REALLY interested in Japanese history/temples and similar touristy sites, Kyoto is a snooze after a few days. We left a few days early and went back to Tokyo. I had a friend in Tokyo give me a bunch of restaurant recs, will see if I can dig them up.
  16. Top 200 players are not created equally. We have been recruiting higher quality players on the offensive side of the ball, without question. See below. The elite offensive talent has also been spread across every position, with Ewers, Baxter, Sanders, Worthy, Banks and Campbell (among others) addressing every position. The same can’t be said on defense. In particularly, we have absolutely nothing elite waiting in the wings at linebacker unless a player significantly out performs their ranking.
  17. I think my biggest defense-related concern actually pertains to next year and the year after. We just haven't recruited (out of high school or the portal) the same level of player on defense as we have on offense. From the 21-22 recruiting classes (inclusive of underclassman transfers like Ewers), we have 7 offensive players ranked .97 or better on the composite coming out of high school. Only 4 on defense. Among those recruits, the offensive average is .9831, whereas the defensive average is .9557. If you extend that out to 2023 (as of now), the gap widens to 11 vs. 6. It's particularly glaring at off-ball linebacker, where we don't have a single 21-23 recruit in the .90s. DT isn't quite as bad but still not great. Whether PK is the right coach or not (seems like not), we will absolutely need to either hit on lower ranked prospects or use the portal for a talent infusion at those positions.
  18. I’m battered from the last decade. As much as I like him, I don’t trust Sark at all. Blown leads and 3rd down defense are recurring nightmares. I’ll be content with 3-2, a bowl win and a top 5 class with Arch and Baxter. Ecstatic with 4-1 or 5-0. Apoplectic with 2-3 or worse. Such is the life of a college football fan.
  19. Absolutely fantastic day in CFB.
  20. Awful roughing the passer call, awful missed PI call
