  1. Sorry to ruin the dream of reliving your childhood, but looks like it's sold out.
  2. Me when Blake commits tomorrow morning:
  3. I assume this is regarding Blake Ivey?
  4. You left out "is that big?" whenever crank size is mentioned.
  5. That was the point in bringing up Mack. DKR is clearly #1 my a large margin. If Sark is going to be #2 then he has to pass Mack.
  6. That's cool and all but I'm gonna go ahead and wait to see what @Lidig8r thinks about this when he gets some spare time.
  7. The BCS had 8 teams for 8 years and 10 teams for 8 years each, so call it an average of 9 teams. That's a 25% smaller field than being in top 12 for CFP. I wouldn't call that just slightly harder. Obviously the CFP are more meaningful now but if you're going to discount 9- and 10-win seasons because of scheduling differences, I don't see how you can hand wave the difference in BCS slots vs CFP slots. Clearly it would be super-duper great if Sark even matched Mack close enough to make it a discussion. At an absolute minimum that means we got a championship with him. I think you're being overly optimistic if you think it's a coin flip though. There's been a lot of good teams and a lot of good coaches that just couldn't get over the finish line. Sure as hell rooting for it to happen.
  8. Yes. I'm not sure why but I really expected better from Donkey. Claiming that Astros fan are especially disappointed that Dusty is the manager is just so out of touch, it's too obvious of a bait. It's like the 12th time my youngest has told me he's feeling updawg with a goofy grin on his face. No son, I'm not gonna ask "what's updawg?" Sometimes you gotta be just a bit more subtle.
  9. I realize you are trolling (and doing it in the right thread for sure!) but you first said this season has to be "very disappointing". I don't know any Astros fan that would call this very disappointing. The injuries suck. Losing Aluve and Yordan for so long, losing Garcia and McCullers for the season - that sucks and is absolutely disappointing. I am sure you are disappointed that DeGrom is out for the season. Injuries always suck and can change a season. Sure I'd be happier if the Astros were up 10 more games but I think the result is pretty reasonable given the roster impact of the injuries. It has absolutely fuck all to do with the Rangers, Angels, Mariners, etc., though. I don't give a shit about those teams.
  10. I heard that it really was a tumor.
  11. I wouldn't read much into that. I am sure that his lawyer and the team are both united in saying "Don't say a fucking word to anybody". He did have an IG where he said he was innocent and even that probably gave his lawyer an aneurism.
  12. I think it got mean when lawyers started yelling at us in all fucking caps. Assholes.
  13. Hi @Lidig8r - not sure if you're still up to your eyeballs but wondering if you've had a chance to evaluate @Ghost of LL's request for SWA's "reprehensible conduct", the "religious freedom training" that you claimed (in error) to be requested by plaintiff, the ability of ADF to conduct such training you defended (in error), or just had a change to educate yourself on any aspect of ADF in general. I know we CR'ers tend to be beneath you but was hoping you would have a chance to show us a little reason, logic, professionalism and mutual respect. After all, @TwiceHorn, @DDD Dad, and @troph all suggested you seem like you're a good dude, not an asshole. As is it, is sure does seem like you are up to your eyeballs in something, I'm just not sure that it's not bullshit.
  14. Actual Libertarians
  15. Just checking in from Oracle Park to say fuck the Rangers
  16. These criticisms all referred specifically to the Mormon church, not Christianity writ large. I very much agree that not all Christians are bad. I do find it a bit gauling when a Mormon steps in to say "hey those bad people aren't real Christians. We're all good". They are not good. If needed I'll go fuck off now.
  17. Ah yes, nothing at all like the True Christianity of covering up sexual abuse, hiding and hoarding financial assets, maintaining an anti-LGBQ college campus, systematic sexual discrimination, insulting the faith of others through "baptism of the dead", harassing former members, or a long and sordid history of polygamy and racism. All of that is the good stuff. Glad you're hear to make sure we know what True Christianity is.
  18. I could be reading too much into your words but to me it still seems that you are equating watching what is essentially space magic with belief in space magic. I definitely agree that there is a veneer of unearned plausibility with the large majority of science fiction (especially TV / Movies, because it's hard enough reading pages of semi-realistic space physics, let along showing it), but I'm not sure that equates to belief in reactionless mass. If your point is that space magic is more accepted than fantasy magic I would agree but I think it's at such a superficial level that it's a distinction without a difference. In other words, is a passive unexamined view that warp drive (just to pick an example) is real actually very common? Even if so, would it tie in to a belief in the purpose of life / desire for the future? Maybe so, something to think about while I try to avoid work on a Friday morning.
  19. I think you're making some pretty broad assumptions about the "pro-sci fi crowd" and their beliefs. I ready a lot of sci-fi, some "hard" (which at least try to pay lip service to the laws of physics) and some soft (space opera). Part of our family time after dinner is watching Star Trek with the kids while working on puzzles. I exchange Star Trek memes with friends. I don't watch / read sci-fi because I think that is the ultimate destination, I read sci fi because good sci-fi is a commentary on current society with room to explore flexible solutions. I (and others I've talked to) don't believe there is some grand purpose of life. Some believe in the likelihood of extra-terrestrial life, some are agnostic. As I think we both agree, the belief that ET life is likely is not founded in any logical or scientific principle but rather because people want it to be true. But I'm not sure that this is any more or less prevalent than non-sci-fi people. Don't mistake what people like to imagine as a relatively optimistic future with the actual prediction of a future.
  20. @immamac or @Getafix - can we get a title edit? I don't want to risk taking Colin for granted and losing his commitment because we didn't capitalize EDGE.
  21. Cool to see the obvious affection he has for his brother.
  22. Now now now, let's be fair to @Mikey4. I'm sure he is super outraged at all this. It's just that it is exacly as outrageous as providing social services like education and healthcare to those that need them.
