  1. You guys seriously need to figure out a way to move Benn from that no-trade clause. The Stars bring in Perry and Pavelski for that much needed leadership that was lacking and Benn responds with one geno in early October and nothing since. What a team leader. I'm not even a Stars fan but might actually become one if they'd move this lug. What's Joe Nieuwendyk doing these days?

  3. Not sure how much time you have in Kansai but one interesting option in the region is Mt. Koya in Wakayama Prefecture. It's not far from Osaka. They have a thousand year old cemetery up there, fantastic for hikers and photo buffs. You stay with the monks in the various monasteries and participate in morning prayer. I was in Japan for ten years and it was one of the most memorable weekends I had over there.
  4. Elwood's Shack is the best BBQ I've ever had outside of Kansas City. Always stop by when in Memphis. Was kinda disappointed with Central. Also a big fan of Makeda's Cookies, right around the corner from the Civil Rights Museum.
  5. The bridge is worth a visit if you're ever in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Went to the Bridge on the River Kwai Festival in 2010. Pretty impressive fireworks show on the bridge. And the cemeteries are really kept up. First time I visited many years ago, took a stroll to the other side of the bridge....the quiet side....walked about 50 yards and stumbled upon an elephant just chilling in the grass. Not something you just walk up on everyday. Yeah, yeah...csb.
  6. I blame myself. Booked a hotel room tonight across from that Home Depot for tomorrow night. Check the news.....oops. It's gone. Obviously no one answering at the hotel.
  7. Anyone catch Howard on Bill Maher's show? Kind of disappointing. Was hoping he'd go off on politics and talk about his relationship with Trump but he did what he always does on talk shows....talk about his experiences with Serious Radio and all that jazz. He was much better on Letterman back in the day.
  8. Went to see Ad Astra today and then walked across the hall to catch this one. Thought if it sucked, we'd just split. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually enjoyed it. Sure, lots to dislike.....silly story line, the fact that EVERY Mexican male in the movie is a bad person, etc. etc. but I actually remained entertained. Funny how he goes from living with Thai's in the Golden Triangle to Mexicans in Southern Arizona. He seems to dislike white folks. By the way, the end credit shots of past Rambo movies.....was Stallone ripped back in the day or what? Dude was built in his prime.
  9. Went to see 'Apocalypse Now Director's Cut' tonight in IMAX. Wow! One of the best theater experiences I've had. Have seen this probably 30 something times and it's probably my favorite film of all time.....but seeing it in IMAX was impressive. Still a little irritated by Coppola's handling of the closing credits but whatever. By the way, there's showing it one more time on Sunday afternoon in IMAX. Highly recommended you check your local listings.
  10. True. I know I saw that milk truck more than once. But it looks like he got the Polanski cars right.
  11. Really enjoyed it. Tarantino's attention to detail is pretty phenomenal. As a car guy, I was impressed with the realism and variety of the 2000 extra cars used in the film. The '66 Cad that Pitt drove was the same one used in Reservoir Dogs and is still owned by Madsen. I'm betting that car could go for some cash some day at auction.
  12. The Clippers are your 'new team'? What, are you the Kevin Durant of fans? Seriously though.....what are your thoughts on the Patterson signing? He was a complete disappointment in OKC. Had high hopes for him coming from Toronto but he just never found his groove.
  13. Hate seeing classic cars getting destroyed needlessly in film and TV. Granted, some are backup cars but still. Is that really necessary?
  14. When is he going to have Dave Attell on in a two-tone rust, ‘81 Buick Regal with an ashtray crammed full of butts? Looking forward to that one.
  15. As a favor to you Texas fans, I think I'm never going to a Rangers game ever again. It always ends ugly. Last four games..... July 26, 2017 - Miami crushed Texas 22 to 10. I swear the game lasted 4 hours. Crazy. June 4, 2019 - Baltimore goes up like 12 to 2 or something. Terrible pitching. Most of crowd leaves. I stayed to watch a decent rally in the 9th. Lose it 12-11 July 1, 2019 - Drive all the way to Dallas from OKC.....get to the park....find out Skaggs dies. Gets back in car and drives to OKC. July 17, 2019 - In town and catch the Arizona game. Holy cow....horrible pitching. Arizona 19-4 I haven't witnessed a Rangers win in 12 years. I'm done.
  16. Who the heck knows. The talk all month in OKC on sports radio has been the possibility of trading Steven Adams. This PG deal comes out of nowhere. You could trade Westbrook and attempt a SuperSonics circa 2007 rebuild....but you've got the loyalty factor as well as needing a superstar to fill the seats in this small market. Think about it......every single Thunder game since 2008 has featured at least one future Hall of Famer on the court. Curious how the Okies will respond to lean years.
  17. If you're a betting man, the Nets at 25-1 isn't bad. Say what you will about Presti, you just have no idea what to expect from the guy. Sucks having to see George go. My partner is friends with his girlfriend and took care of the baby. PG is about as cool and laid back of a fella you could ever meet....and makes a mean bowl of ramen. Best of luck to him in LA.
  18. You hardcore Stern fans in Austin may want to keep your eyes open today for Ronnie the Limo Driver. That race across America thing rolled through Oklahoma City Saturday night. Happened to park by the Skirvin Hotel where they were staying and the parking lot out front was full of those sports cars. Talked to an employee and he made it sound like the whole crew was a pretty pretentious lot. Anyway, according to Ronnie's twitter account, he was in with this group but I didn't bump into him. Keep an ear open for an old guy shouting obscenities towards women.
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. By the way, is Tomasita's worth hitting at all?
  20. Question.....heading to Santa Fe this weekend sort of last minute. The lady friend wants to treat me for my birthday on Saturday but Geronimo looks booked. Any recommendations for a nice, memorable meal but not ultra fancy and through the roof prices? Many thanks....
  21. You might also like 'Too Fat to Fish'. You can't help but read the entire book with the voice of Artie in your head.
  22. Yep.....what the 'Hull' just happened? The 'Weight' is finally over. I'm in 'Schock'. 'Beers' all week at the 'Barr'. They're saying the parade will likely be Saturday afternoon. May have to join the fam up there in all the hysteria.
  23. This is really kind of a funny statement. Spent four years in Thailand and, trust me, it's the women that are the more dominant sex over there. Thai men tend to be the subordinates in that culture. Of course, Southeast Asia would much rather watch the men's game than the women's in that soccer crazy part of the world. In regards to that game, I agree with the celebrating being excessive. That was embarrassing to watch. I played hockey in Japan from the late 90's to 2004 and had a few Canadian teammates that were part of the Japanese National and 1998 Olympic team in Nagano. In 2003 , the Japanese team had to play the Thai national team for the warmup to the Asian Winter Games and beat them 39-0!! You had pro-hockey players taking on guys that had played the game about 5 years. It was absolutely ridiculous to even play that game. Certainly wasn't any celebrating going on in that game. Just go out and take care of business. And in that respect, when you do have two equal teams and a player celebrates a goal with an 8 goal lead, I can assure his head better be on a swivel the rest of the night. Paybacks are a bitch. I don't know....I just thought the celebrating was a bit over the top.
