  1. It’s a new release that’ll be out in a couple of weeks, but they don’t tell you what the movie is. The tickets are discounted since Monday is a slow day for movies. I have a monthly pass so it doesn’t matter for me. The movies are usually pretty good. This one just had an odd ending, but everything else was really good.
  2. Europeans have told us to kick rocks. They are definitely spending their money elsewhere. This is going to destroy so many businesses, supply chains and all of the stuff affiliated with it. A society does not collapse all at once, but ours is getting a big jolt of "we're screwed" right now.
  3. I look at life as being precious. It is so painfully short the time we are given. Like most everyone here I am just numb to the shootings unless it involves children. When the life of a human being is taken in its infancy that really stops me in my tracks. Every day when I am at work and someone is having a rough day the thing I remind them of is that today they were able to wake up to another day. I also tell them that only they have the power to decide how today goes and to make the best of it because for many people yesterday was it and they did not wake up today. You soldier on and find the beauty in the small moments and hopefully you get to wake up the next day and do it all over again.
  4. Went to see a movie tonight. One of those deals where the movie is a surprise. This was the movie and honestly it was thoroughly enjoyable. Good memories of all the places they showed in NYC that I used to see every day. The ramp that takes you down from 42nd to below street level at Grand Central reminded me of the year I spent commuting to the city from Stamford. Really good film and I like that they don't waste time on going right into the heart of the matter. I think several of you here will really enjoy this one.
  5. When the other side of this is reached, and it will be because again history is a REALLY GOOD guide as to what is going to transpire, the first thing Democrats need to do is purge all the olds that want to reconcile with the fascists. The second thing they need to do is completely abolish the Republican Party from existing. The time for working across the aisle is gone and it's an antiquated idea from what is now another time in American history. They are going to have to go General Sherman scorched earth on the whole apparatus. None of that party can be allowed to move forward. Anyone who currently holds elected office as a Republican/Cult Member has to be barred from ever serving in politics again (At any level) and needs to be on a permanent probation for the rest of their lives. The consequences for destroying America have to be harsh and a reminder to future generations of what you have to do when confronted by future Stephen Miller clones or people like TFG and his little couch fiend buddy. We are a good long way away from that time, but when the time comes it'll take leadership willing to bring the hammer and not just empty rhetoric. I think the suffering this country is about to go through as a collective will make what happens after this bout against fascism be okay and understood to be necessary.
  6. That is a normal amount for two Americans to be eating. I mean the principal is not in the greatest shape.
  7. It’s not thinking in terms of being hopeful or cute or even wishful. Familial ties here remain strong to those countries. Unless TFG decided to cut off flights to the islands from each of those countries they will keep coming. My time in the US should be done early 2027, perhaps sooner. These were plans made long before TFG opened up Griftco in the newly minted Faux Gold House. His stupidity has no bearing on leaving, for me at least. I’ll keep on keepin’ on until I don’t and that’s good enough.
  8. Pascal is really good at what he does, but Brolin nailed it.
  9. Does anyone expect an honest answer from a guy who loves violating unsuspecting couch cushions?
  10. They sure did. I’m eagerly awaiting the regret posts we’ll be seeing from people as our economy spirals out of control while prices keep going higher. What a time to be alive to see 80 million buffoons get exactly what they deserve.
  11. Those of y’all on the mainland that live in cities or areas that get lots of foreign tourists are about to see your local economy go in the tank. The only reason things are okay out here is because we get a ton of tourists from Japan, South Korea, The Philippines and China. Canadians have the pretty much quit coming and Europeans are like seeing Bigfoot. The loss of tourism dollars will lead to thousands of restaurant closures, suppliers with much more product on hand, the closing of clothing stores and the hotel industry will get massacred as well. The f’ing around already happened and now the finding out will happen to Americans while TFG is busy trying to extort UCLA for money and skimming a few billion off the top on tariff money taken in.
  12. It was noticed. Cool, but easy to spot.
  13. Saw a clip of his highlights. Good on him for doing well. He got better blocking from the Browns line today than he ever had at CU.
  14. Yeah I went to a wedding in 2021 for two Italian Catholics and not only did everyone get a bottle of wine with their name on it, but the reception was down in Jersey. Drove an hour to ge there to watch all these Italians get trashed as well as everyone else there. I had stopped drinking well before then, but it was impressive to watch.
  15. Go see this one. Any critic that doesn’t like that movie should probably find a new line of work. 38 million very, very well spent.
  16. Definitely not off-topic when the moron put Trump hats and visors in the pictures of animals he killed. We should find a way to get this particular Cape Buffalo sponsored by this website.
  17. How many careers in movies and sports have taken a decided uptick once Helo says they are doomed to failure?
  18. I enjoy movies and shows with Brolin as well as Garner. She's really talented and I've seen the preview several times now. It seems like a really interesting plot.
  19. They made movies about that? I remember years ago seeing that game, but that’s all I remember.
  20. Good on both of them. I like that she no longer wears makeup. I think they’re both pretty cool people enjoying life.
  21. My favorite movie is from 2019 so I’ll just take that year.
  22. I mean it's impressive how quickly he saw that couch up there and made a beeline for some sexy time in front of God and country.
  23. This plays a big role as well. We all eventually get dated and settle into quoting the movies we grew up with or saw as young adults. It happens. Every generation will go through it and every single one will think there are no more good movies of their favorite genre because the style and delivery has changed. I’ll watch just about anything, but when I am incredulous about something I still fall back on are “You Serious Clark?” instead of something more modern.
  24. Well I say this about any movie and I think it will always hold true. We all like different movies and sometimes a movie that can be pretty popular may just fall flat with one of us. I said I did not enjoy the Superman movies I saw growing up and I know that some people found that to be odd. The only way I can say that might help you connect with the movie is to think that you're seeing a Polynesian Jew playing Hitler and that much of the movie revolves around the imagination of a child. I watched it from that perspective. I know I mentioned this years ago in the thread about the movie and that I got to hear Taika Waititi speak about the movie. AMC had this thing on opening night and it had some screenings at the UWS location by Lincoln Square with a sign saying Q&A. I asked about it and was told that someone associated with the movie would come out and talk about it after it was done. They had a screening the next morning for a Q&A of the movie so I got really lucky and the AMC app finally showed an open seat for it in the front row. At the end of the movie we are all surprised to see that it was Taika who came out to answer questions for 30 minutes. One random guy yelled out "Heil Hitler" (Recurring theme in the movie, especially with the Heil Hitlering scene later on in the movie with Stephen Merchant playing an SS agent) and Taika's like "Wasn't expecting that this morning!" I still have 15 minutes of video on my phone I took from that. He explained that he did the movie to warn about nazis and that they were again on the rise and that he was, in his words, "I should have to be making a movie warning people about nazis 75 f****** years later, but here we are." Again not everyone likes every movie and I think that's normal. This one just really hit home with me for several reasons, especially because my Oma was six years old when that idiot came to power and she turned 18 in January of 45 while her country was being destroyed. Just watching it through the eyes of a child who knows nothing else, but hate yet finds a way to change in the midst of unimaginable sadness perhaps makes it hit home more.
  25. I don’t say this lightly because I can’t send anyone to any place once they kick the bucket, but I hope they both go to hell. I also hope that they have to watch an endless loop of their own lives from beginning to whatever their pitiful end is, and that it never stops for the rest of eternity.
