  1. I'll be interested to learn if it was random violence, an employee, doctor, or patient. UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson Fatally Shot in Broad Daylight in Front of Midtown Hilton: Reports Thompson has been CEO of the healthcare company since 2021, according to his bio By Greg Hanlon Published on December 4, 2024 09:40AM EST UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in Manhattan on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in front of the Hilton hotel, according to multiple reports, including ABC, The New York Times and PIX 11, who cite police sources. A New York Police Department spokesman tells PEOPLE that officers responded to a call at about 6:40 a.m. in front of 1335 Sixth Avenue, the address for the New York Hilton Midtown, where they found a 50-year-old man who'd been shot in the chest. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Multiple reports have named Thompson as the victim, but the spokesman said the victim's name is being withheld publicly pending family notification. According to the Times, which reviewed a police report, the gunman fled east on Sixth Avenue and police are still trying to locate him. According to his bio on the company's website, Thompson was named CEO in April 2021. Prior to that, he was CEO of the company's government programs, including its medicare program. He joined the company in 2004, according to his bio. This is a breaking news story. Check back for updates.
  2. We signed a kicker?
  3. He seems nice.
  4. And the following quarter, we see the first ever double digit rise in US worker productivity which "experts" attribute to AI.
  5. Nah, he good.
  6. Have you tried growing corn with it?
  7. I don't know if this is related, but my dad says Indian food goes right through him.
  8. Milk is such a weird thing - we were not meant to drink it, it’s meant for baby calves to fatten up - Most people who purchase it have the majority of cream removed. I have a conspiracy theorist sis-in-law who thinks we poison ourselves with pasteurized milk - right winger or left? Of the conspiracy theorists that I know one is a libertarian, one voted for Harris (but may not be liberal), and one is a holistic nut (who I think is right wing as she was against the Covid vaccine and couldn't figure out why she got so sick, but who knows). The funny thing to me is that I have a ton of holistic nut patients who are annoying as fuck, but they all like me, presumably because I listen to their BS and don't try to argue.
  9. It may be, but a penis to the head is dirtier.
  10. There has been a push to take fluoride out of the drinking water despite its dramatic impact on caries prevention. I thought that was coming from anti-vaxers though. And those people are a mixture of left and right wackos.
  11. He was raping women, right?
  12. I hope Georgia is having to deal with the same BS. It is impossible to focus on an SEC championship and recruiting and retention all at the same time.
  13. I played a few times at Fonde with some of those guys plus I know one of them pretty well. So, I'm partial to them over the Big East and ACC stuff.
  14. Heard from a patient that Toni Price had an aneurysm a few weeks ago and passed. Y'all may not know her but she was pretty big in the Austin music scene back in the day. But, like a lot of musicians, had a substance abuse problem that caught up to her.
  15. What was the name of the ball sucking linebacker that we got from Tennessee during the Mack years?
  16. Because it is still important to have complete classes. There seems to be somewhat of a correlation between recruiting and results on the field. To your point though, I think if it is going to cost $1M to keep Sharma, that money is better going to Justus Terry.
  17. What's the blue and the green?
  18. I can't imagine the SEC letting itself fall behind in football. I am sure that they will end up doing whatever everyone else is doing. As for Banks, I think he fucked up with special teams. Auburn is decent enough - not great, not terrible. But, Kern doesn't have a strong enough leg and has been inconsistent. He has put us in a hole on multiple occasions this season and in defensive battles like we will encounter against Georgia, he will kill us in field position. We should have brought in the best through the portal and we will need to hit the portal this year or Banks will have made a big mistake 2 seasons in a row.
  19. That's probably the right answer. Follett makes some nice looking semi-compact countertop designs but I don't think they get great reviews for reliability. Thor has the best value for built-in ice makers but check with their reliability and noise levels. That is who I would probably go with, but I'm cheap.
  20. What is Russia at now? We had 1.5M casualties during the Civil War with between 750K and 850K killed.
  21. Interesting that USC is the player for Sharma. That program is a dumpster fire, more-so than Florida even, but I guess that isn't as important to some guys. And very few DL are capable as freshmen - I wonder if we will start going after redshirt freshmen or sophomores with little production or if we will continue to focus on upperclassmen who are somewhat established.
  22. Just to add to this - It seems to me that after we struck out on DL early in the cycle, we adjusted to the "market". So, we have already adjusted. Now, as you state, there are a few crazies trying to shore up their class, but that isn't the market and trying to compete can cause problems with not just this class but with our current roster and future classes.
  23. It's more likely that we had a tough away game that we had to focus on so we couldn't bring our commits to the game and we couldn't travel to see them until Sunday.
  24. Well, he isn't going to Stanford or Cal but up north one state there is a pretty good program.
