  1. more than a month later and i cannot believe that bolden in the arkansas game did not actually put me in my grave. i am pretty sure i had a ministroke though as i had blurry vision for five minutes after his brilliant decision to go ahead and snag the ball at the goal line while running into the end zone. is banks coaching this shit from the vip lounge of the spearmint rhino after a line?

taking the kiddos finally this year over the break next week. first time back since my wife and i went in 2006 when we were dating. we had the most incredible week there previously. hoping the 12 and 10 year old can keep up with the hikes. we are airbnb'ing so we will get grocery food for a good amount but also want to hit some restaurants. when we went in 2006, dining certainly wasn't a point of emphasis (nor should it be) but just wondering if anything has changed over the last 20 years and whether any of you recent visitors have had any good experiences you'd recommend. staying in princeville but the whole island is on the table obviously.
  3. protip: if a video on youtube, twitter, etc... has any use of the words "DESTROYS" or "DEMOLISHES" or "WRECKS" or "DEVASTATES" or "DISMANTLES" or "ANNIHILATES" in the title (particularly if it is all caps), it can more than likely be summarily ignored.
  4. It didn’t work. He still fucking sucks.
  5. Can someone please send Quinn some nudes at half to see if it will make him not be the worst qb in the history of college football please?
  6. DO SOMETHING, CHUCKIE!!! while i agree with your sentiment about unplugging from social media, i pretty much categorically disagree with everything else you said. an educated and informed citizenry is the only way to keep any check whatsoever on outright corruption that leads to truly unpleasant consequences such as runaway levels of totalitarianism and fascism. continuing to add to the already insurmountable ledger of uninformed idiots doesn't help. that said, anyone who finds themselves having material levels of anxiety or their mental/emotional well being threatened by the non-stop onslaught of frustrating and discouraging news and/or speculation should absolutely do themselves the favor of "unplugging" and detaching themselves from the source of that. no question. sounds like you are finding a happier place after being so invested in the disappointing results by avoidance. a lot of people are in your shoes. the recency of everything and the fact that every decision dipshit has made thus far betrays his worst instincts makes it an ideal time to become apathetic in the near term. hopefully a balance will reveal itself while remaining informed. stay happy, chuckle. BUT DO SOMETHING!!!! (eta: and yes, we owe the pigs a borderline erotic beatdown)
  7. kopi luwak you fucking simps.
  8. shit, i thought it was german. oh well, back to the drawing board.
  9. all of this is moot. if they don't back channel negotiate a confirmation, the recess appointment would last through the congress and then he can just run again for the next term in two years.
  10. that may all be good and well but where your theory fails is that i have imported a bunch of black and caspian sea sturgeon in order to farm my own hybrid and royal ossetra and they don't seem to be enjoying central texas drought weather... similarly, all the pinot and chard vines i imported from Épernay and montagne de reims all died in my back yard this summer. you of all people should know what this means. consider my face eaten.
  11. i recognize based on you polluting the board over the last week that you are literally too stupid to insult but... 1) it has not been overturned by appeal to date. it likely will not be. even if it was, this is not create a federal offense from bragg which is the point. 2) jack smith was not responsible for investigating matt gaetz.
  12. once they are indicted and being prosecuted. not really to be investigated. especially when there's absolutely nothing there. the more concerning thing to me about gaetz being in charge of the doj is not politically motivated revenge investigations, it is incompetence in actually investigating and prosecuting real crimes mixed with a healthy dose of corruption and an unwillingness to pursue actual crimes stemming from said corruption. i would not be surprised if gaetz got outwitted by el chapo's kid and el mayo in the most slam dunk trial of all time.
  13. mccabe arguably violated federal law while at the fbi authorizing improper releases and was fired. i don't doubt that gaetz would fire smith. that said, substantially more skilled and higher quality u.s. attorneys than matt fucking gaetz tried their damndest to get him indicted by a grand jury and the grand jury refused to do so and the feds were left holding their dicks. also, jack smith is not andrew mccabe.
  14. he can tie up doj resources investigating jack smith all he wants. that's for sure. he may even get a friendly judge to sign off on an fbi warrant to go rearrange his house and harass smith (though i doubt it). but anyone that knows anything about jack smith knows that there is nowhere to go with any of it and getting a grand jury to indict him for jaywalking will be a real challenge.
  15. well, he could open a federal investigation of him if he broke federal laws. i am not aware that prosecuting a suspected felon, prevailing in a jury trial, and getting 34 felony convictions against said defendant is a federal crime. yet.
  16. umm, i have some bad news for you...
  17. jack smith a fucking boy scout to the extreme. so much so they did not actually get trump put in jail. even with creativity, there is absolutely no basis for an indictment. bragg's prosecution led to a jury convicting trump of 34 felonies that have not been overturned in any way by appeal. what basis is there to pursue criminal charges in that context?
  18. For what do you think matt gaetz will be able to convince a grand jury to indict Jack Smith...even in this bizarre version of reality?
  19. what exactly? of all people in the world, what does even a malicious politically motivated d.o.j. going to possibly be able to get jack smith on? or alvin bragg? what do you expect a grand jury to indict them on?
  20. all this navel gazing "the party learned a big lesson and needs to do some introspection on itself" bla bla bla bullshit every four years always cracks me up...just like it did in 2008 for republicans, 2010 for dems, 2012 for republicans, 2014 and 2016 for dems, 2018, 2020, and 2022 for republicans, and now 2024 for dems. while it certainly gives a bunch of folks (especially a few here) the opportunity to project some level of superiority or gloating that "if only this enormous national apparatus of political machination that seeks to bring compromise to a million different competing interests have listened to me about who they were not properly advocating for...," it really is just a bunch of nonsense and an excuse for a bunch of marginal magazines and marginal journalists and opportunity to do longform post-mortems full of hindsight bullshit. just as much nonsense as all the poor, broken people who have been peacocking around this forum the last week making extraordinarily lame attempts to dunk on everyone else while betraying just how broken they truly are. american politics is actually quite a simple equation for a few decades now and it really is just a consequential derivative of our society accepting (if not advocating for) a crony capitalism economic system flirting with all out oligarchy. because of the extraordinary and accelerated changes in wealth inequality over the last few decades, the overwhelming majority of the impoverished, poor, lower-middle class, and middle-middle class are now substantially poorer in a relative sense than they have ever been. there is very little dignity and they are overwhelmingly bombarded through media, entertainment, social media, and even politics with how inferior their lifestyles are now which gives them the perception of failure and a miserable experience of daily grinding. they are unsatisfied in their lives relative to how they believe models on instagram live, billionaires on private planes, etc... these are the majority of voters. when people feel perpetually unsatisfied and unhappy, they are not rational about economics and no one out there is pointing them to the fact that in this time of "extraordinary inflation" before and after tax corporate profits have increased from 2.4 trillion a quarter in 2019 to 4.1 trillion this year. since they don't understand that, the only person to blame for the malaise and their general dissatisfaction is the most visible and perceived powerful person in the nation. life sucks and someone else is to blame. i will punish the status quo by electing something different (which is just a continuation of the status quo under a different color). for trump in particular, he exacerbates the appeal because these people that believe they have nothing to lose don't see him for what he is (the guy unapologetically stealing their life savings and exacerbating the inequality), they farcically see him as iconoclast and agent of burning everything to the ground. the preceding are the most important contributing elements to presidential elections now. second, harris was a minority woman. minority is not that bad, woman is the worst possible sin. particularly amongst hispanic men, white men, and a heeeeeell of a lot more women than is polite to discuss. third, biden's choices thrust harris into a losing position and created an environment with no real alternative and was just a bad situation. there's really not much more to it than that. 2026 and 2028 will be a reaction to this election when all these suckers and losers (not the maga cult ones but the rest of them) realize that their lives are still shit (likely much worse) after a few years of the upcoming circus.
