  1. April 1979 - Saw Muddy Waters open for Eric Clapton at the Summit in Houston 1987 - Saw Johnny Winter open for George Thorogood at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Kind of an insult if you're a blues fan, that a master should open for a talentless poser. September 1981 - Saw Stevie Ray Vaughan open for Johnny Winter at the Austin Opera House. I love me some Johnny, but while he was great, he was a wee bit off that night, and Stevie was on...like REALLY on. Between the two of them, that was probably the finest night of live music I've ever experienced.
  2. You say that now, but that's what everyone thought about full sleeves a generation ago. The idiocracy is real.
  3. I know I mentioned Eric Burdon in my last entry, but I also think we're neglecting to recognize the Godfather, the King...the TRUE King of Rock and Roll... Little Richard.
  4. David Lee Ross??? Anyway, no list of the greatest rock vocalists is complete without a mention of Eric Burdon.
  5. That 1955 article would probably also have had a photo of Ms. Jackson's lifeless, bloody body lying on the sidewalk, and perhaps a photo of a handcuffed, disheveled Mr. Frakes looking like he had just done 15 rounds with Rocky Marciano.
  6. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day...
  7. I don't know shit about dog breeds, but he kind of looks like a Belgian Malinois (sp?) hooked up with a Great Dane and came up with this cutie. He looks like a Brutus.
  8. Okay, so I see B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf (I think) and Muddy Waters. Should I be embarrassed that I don't recognize the big guy on the right? I don't think that's Willie Dixon. Is that Willie Dixon?
  9. My maternal grandfather, approximately 1922 in Atlantic City with a couple of my uncles. Has kind of a Boardwalk Empire vibe to it. Apparently this is how you dressed for a day at the beach back then. Wish I had gotten to know the man.
  10. "Respect among member institutions". LOFL If they respected you, they wouldn't have stabbed you in the back, dumbass.
  11. Okay, this is it. Betting the house on Florida, and Skenes doesn't make it out of the 3rd.
  12. FIFY
  13. No love for Tony Degrate?
  14. Spastic Jackasses would be a great band name.
  15. Was this meant as a joke? It's hard to tell sometimes. So just to be clear, you're saying you're kind of like the Uncle Rico of Texas high school baseball?
  16. Here's my solution; DKR in '24, and aggy is told to sit down and shut up.
  17. South Carolina vs. Florida is on ESPNU, if anyone wants a change of pace. 3-3 bottom of 6 right now. Make that 4-3 Florida. Solo shot to straight away center.
  18. Just turned this on. I see TCU has Johnny Winter on the mound. Cool.
  19. "The world treats winners a lot different than it treats losers." Augie Garrido
  20. Not hard to grasp at all, but it would not have been sad at all. It would have been glorious.
  21. I love this picture. I want to believe that this image still haunts BM in his dreams nightmares. The one where he's stuck running in slow motion as Poona is bearing down on him.
