  1. Not directly an anti-communist movie, but these two scenes are classic. Early December of 1979, I was a freshman, and Patton was showing in the theater in the Union. This was shortly after the U.S. embassy in Tehran had been overrun, and the Russians had recently invaded Afghanistan. Needless to say, feelings were running strong. The theater was packed, and everyone exploded in cheers when Patton made his thoughts on the Russians known to Gen. Bedell Smith. I think everyone left the theater that night wanting to kick some commie ass.
  2. G.C. Scarborough in Houston, when I graduated in 1979 had Texas Fight as their fight song. The only things I liked about that school were that the colors were burnt orange and white, and the fight song.
  3. Didn't quite catch that...can you run it by me again?
  4. Not totally meaningless for the Lions. When sideline reporter asked Detroit HC about how the team stays motivated after they were eliminated from playoffs, he replied, "We don't want them to go either." If GB loses, they're out of the playoffs and Seattle is in.
  5. And just like that, a three point game.
  6. That's probably only part of it. My guess is that he would also have had to express remorse and contrition for the incident, and agreed to undergo anger management and/or substance abuse counseling while on suspension. The fact that he, through his lawyer, continued to contend that he did absolutely nothing wrong, and would be found completely innocent indicates that none of this was going to happen, and the fact that there are now photos of him in a prison jump suit standing before the man indicate that he did, in fact, do something wrong. And one more thing...why the fuck was she in NYC with the team? Since when did people start taking their significant others on business trips?
  7. C'mon man, I've had a rough night, and I hate the fuckin' Eagles.
  8. As soon as the music starts, the dust starts flying:
  9. Nothing...it's perfect as is. Ok, maybe a sling, but I prefer simplicity.
  10. In a little white box That I can sell uptown
  11. On a scale of 1-3, with 3 being the hottest? Yes, you're correct.
  12. Yup...on Academy Drive, just east of S. Congress.
  13. Yes...at first, but they did change the name around 1978 or 79 to the Austin Opera House. I think there was a convoluted lawsuit, or lawsuits, involving The Austin Opry/Opera House, the Texas Opry House in Houston, and the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville over the use of the word "Opry". Anyway, after the name was changed, I saw Johnny Winter there in September 1981, with young Stevie Ray Vaughan opening. Awesome night.
  14. Finally! Something to look forward to.
  15. No argument on the organ donation thing, if that's what you choose to do, but if you're going to make it mandatory for people who choose to engage in higher risk activities like motorcycle riding, skydiving, etc., you should also ban alcoholics, smokers, drug addicts, etc. from receiving organ donations. Take better care of your original set of organs, and maybe you wouldn't need that transplant.
  16. People who pronounce the T in the word "often". The T is silent, bitches!
  17. I'm normally a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas, but I friggin' love this:
  18. It was not obvious as a joke, which indicates it was a bad joke about something many people are passionate. Marines, and all actual service members, earn their valor, whereas aggy wallows in stolen valor.

You sure that's a lady? Looks like the young kid from Dazed and Confused.
  20. I don't like negging, but this one deserves a neg for associating that kiddie corps bullshit in College Station with the USMC. BTW, in honor of my parents, brothers and nephew, Go Navy, Beat Army!
  21. Fabletics. Any ad that starts with some douchebag saying, "Guys, let's be honest. Buying pants sucks. It shouldn't be this difficult", just guarantees that I will never buy your product. What the fuck is so difficult about buying pants? Do you not know your waist size? Can you not operate a measuring tape? Are you so much of a pussy that trying to figure out how to buy pants gets you so frustrated you resort to buying stretchy pants?
