  1. Not the lead, but I'll allow it; however, since the thread is about female leads in old westerns, and you specifically brought up Hang 'Em High, how come no mention of Inger Stevens? https://honestlydeepesttidalwave.tumblr.com/post/189535112758/inger-stevens-imdb
  2. I get the comparison, but it's kind of unfair to Tech. At least VaTech really is a very good engineering school, and their corps of cadets are actual cadets, all of whom are obligated to military service upon completion of school. Having said all that, their starting QB today is an aggy transfer, and since my grand daugher (no pics, you pervs) just got accepted to UVA, fuck the Hokies.
  3. Unconventional and controversial, but big balls of brass. RIP to a legend. https://www.foxnews.com/us/richard-marcinko-first-commanding-officer-of-seal-team-6-dies-on-christmas
  4. Is it just me, or is the demographic of female, one-armed rock climbers a bit over-represented in commercials these days? And speaking of Erin Andrews, that Lexus commercial she does, "She's rich...she rich, rich" irritates me. I don't care how hot she may be, that ad makes her sound like a moron.
  5. Merry Christmas, you Surly Bastards. I don't post much, but I do enjoy ya'lls company every day...well, most of you anyway. Inka, sorry about your stepmom. I lost my mom 10 years ago about a week before Christmas. Glad you seem to be handling it well, and your family's going to be together over Christmas. Here's something to help put everyone in the mood...Christmas mood, that is:
  6. Getting the 2 seed would be big. Would guarantee 2 home games in a row in the playoffs if you can win that wild card round
  7. If by "AD" you mean Adrian Peterson, fuck that guy. We had Ced when Peterson came out, then got Jamal Charles when Ced graduated. We were fine at RB without Peterson.
  8. It's been a while since I was there, so not sure if it's still there, but the Fredericksburg Brewing Company used to serve a pretty tasty CFS. Also, the sausage sampler appetizer is really good.
  9. Strange hearing Lowell and Lance calling the K State-Marquette game.
  10. In Horn80's defense, he said Gilbert, "played well enough to almost win". That doesn't necessarily mean he played well, but keep in mind that with about 4 minutes to go, it was still a 3 point game, and Texas had the ball with a chance for a game winning drive. Can't really ask for more from a true Freshman with little real playing time under his belt.
  11. I'll admit up front that I don't know shit about shit, but this sounds like the "credible source at Texas Tech" have just figured out that they're not getting Ewers, but can't bring themselves to admit that Texas most likely will.
  12. What the fuck are you talking about? Georgia beat us in the Cotton Bowl in January 1984. We manhandled Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in January 2019. Neither of these games had anything to do with any game being played today. Go sober up and stop whining like a little titty baby.

  14. Yeah, I've noticed that it seems to be a feature of many, if not most, commercials lately that they use lots of ugly people and really bad music.
  15. Eight year olds, Dude.
  16. Harvesting the souls of America's enemies from 1941-1953.
  17. What's left to say? Well, since the season is over after this Friday, maybe he can discuss the impending purge of "talent" from the current team, and how he plans to rebuild. As regards the KSU talent pictured above, I must say they may not be the smokingest hot of smoking hot hotties, but damn if they all don't look like they could be fun...good breeding stock.
  18. It's amazing how much mileage we've gotten out of Charlie Strong's press conference coach speak. "You just look at _________ over there and it's just all about the tradition of ___________." Five years gone, and this is still funny.
  19. Yeah, but not a complete fail...note the caveat at the end of my original post.

    Moody Center

Yeah, as someone mentioned up thread, having the half court circle centered on the observation deck is just a bit too "Whitmanesque".

    Funk.

May as well start at the beginning of all that is funk: And then there's this: And this: And no mention of James Brown is complete without this, especially in the context of the time in which this one was recorded:
  22. Any commercial (I'm looking at you, Dominos) that features someone yelling into a megaphone at someone who is an arm's length away from them causes a reflexive reach for the remote/mute button. Probably not the reaction advertisers want.
  23. Found this video earlier today. Pretty fascinating look at some Texas history that puts a bit more human touch on the topic. Got a little dusty towards the end.

  24. Here's a conundrum...would you take a sip off that bottle if she had wiped it with that towel?
