  1. My wife and I are watching this now and are really enjoying it. For those looking to start, just slog through the first 2 episodes. It really picks up after that. I wont come out and say to skip them both and start watching from S1E3 since they are all stand alone but if we had to do it all over again my wife and I would skip them. Our honest thought after watching the first two episodes were that maybe we were just too old for these new age inde shows but man do they get good after that. Entire History of You, White Christmas, and Be Right Back are our favorites so far. Waldo is meh. The rest are good to great. Currently on the 4th season.
  2. The irony is how much money they are making off Naloxone now.
  3. That Red Hot Chili Peppers rendition is incredible.
  4. OK last 1 really. Super rare version of Simon and Garfunkel, Live at Granada. You need to go to 2:00 in to hear 59th street bridge song. The last version I had bookmarked got taken down. The harmony here is the best they have done live on this song IMO. Youtube didnt allow embedding on this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS4KPTKlqS8
  5. I always love seeing/hearing something unique that I havent seen before. Can be covers, live shows, singing / instrumental, whatever. Just something where you say , "This is the best performance of this I have ever heard." Something like this... Or this....IMO this is the best performance of Beethoven's 9th out there. From a 1977 recording. Ive listened to many, many versions of this symphony. Nothing comes close to this. The 4 soloists are incredible. Anna Tomowa-Sintow/Soprano Agnes Baltsa/Contralto Peter Schreier/Tenor José Van Dam/Bass Or this...
  6. So the s and p officially closed in bear market territory today. It marks the 3rd bear market since 2000 with the other 2 in 2000 and 2007 respectively . For those who have followed the market through those times, What are the differences and similarities to now? My main concern is was the economy running like is it now back then as well? With economists stating not to panic and that unemployment is low , consumer spending is strong etc? I remember reading about Jamie dimon saying this next bear will be caused by bond issues. What did he mean by that? We have never had to navigate through QT before . Did we essentially kick the can down the road with 3 rounds of QE that we are just now starting to absorb?
  7. First trade to lose money for me in my small foray into swing trading. Bought some shares of dia at the end of day last Friday . Sold them thankfully into a small rally this morning. Bought at 224.11. Sold at 222.78. Still up in my accounts this year but doesn’t feel good to lose. A small lesson learned.
  8. It will be short lived I think but ethereum up almost 75% in the last week. Bitcoin cash up over 150% in 7 days. Most other coins up 30% or so . At least we know the fad isn’t over yet. Still gambling and 99 % of these coins are utter shit but there are some not so shitty ones that may end up making it. I wonder if bitcoin cash will actually replace bitcoin like some have said. Ethereum and xrp still have the most long term value imo. Those and one of the bitcoins either bitcoin or bitcoin cash. Prices really started going up right when we were getting close to the 100 billion overall market cap. Now back up over 140 billion. That and maybe the stock markets crashing . Maybe some people took money out of stocks and put it in crypto. God I hope not. Either way it’s fun to watch all of these markets and learn. Still on the sidelines in my crypto account. I haven’t even thought of actually transferring money back in and investing . Maybe some day and only to speculate .
  9. may want to wait until we see whether or not it’s legal for a president to fire the fed chief . This fucking guy.... https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/22/trump-reportedly-wants-to-fire-fed-chair-powell.html
  10. Seriously how am I , a Juliard trained day trader , supposed to have fun on my vacation when the markets keep preventing me from doing so. Just been on the sidelines all day . Still on the sidelines ... I’m not going to try and pick anything right now. Is this panick selling ?
  11. So when does the smart money invest ? Because I’m being a giant pussy right now and refusing to buy because wtf.
  12. I have an elementary understanding of puts and calls. I know most people lose money with them and that has always scared me away from really looking into it. It’s an all or nothing bet correct? I would love a small tutorial reply from one of y’all who do them if you have time over the next few weeks. So if I wanted to do a put of amazon right now at 1500 and bet it goes to 1400 I would put up the value of 1 share that I would lose completely if the put doesn’t occur in the time frame I specify? Would my account also need to have in it 150k ? You buy 1 share but get the spread as if you own 100? If it does hit 1400 then I get the gain of 100 dollars x 100 shares? See the types of questions I ask? That would be the level of a tutorial I would need . If you make a put bet do you stand to gain more money by calling it in a faster time frame? Say in 1 month vs 3 months ? Why not just make a. Put bet right now for 5 years on amazon going to 1200? Or even better make a call bet of amazon out 5 years to 2000?
  13. Always. This is my money for my retirement. Since I went almost all cash in January this year my plan has always been to dabble some once the downward movement starts and to invest it all again once the recession hits. Maybe it is a good plan maybe it isn’t . I didn’t feel good watching from the sidelines from April to September. But it sure has felt good since then.
  14. Never been more excited than to have bought amzn at 1504 yesterday at end of day and sell it this morning at breakfast at 1504. My wife is already super upset with me because I am glued to my phone all day watching the market . I never get to do this due to my job but we are at her folks house for the next week in Mexico. I’m having the time of my life . She is not. I’m looking at buying amzn at 1400 ish today or tomorrow if it gets there. Should coincide with the s and p hitting 2460. Apparently that is the next floor. Then down to 2250. Because all of these guys are right on and can predict the market with ease. Still exciting to be able to trade a little while we find a bottom.
  15. I’m on vacation and just watching the markets and some stocks on my vanguard account. The Dow’s 350 point gain was gone in less than 60 seconds real time. How the hell do I compete with that . And this is after the Fed did what most were expecting . Not too hawkish. Not too dovish. Am I playing in a casino with my retirement right now? I guess I’ll stick to some small trades like I have been doing . Thank god I didn’t buy earlier today thinking I would miss the party. Buy the rumor sell the news I guess
  16. Thanks for this . I was most likely selling today due to traveling anyway but this nudged me to do it a bit sooner . Sold amzn ridiculously at 1563 of all prices . May rebuy just before close .
  17. Dabbled a little today in the last hour of trading. I can’t bring myself to trade options. Just buying low and hoping to sell a little higher. I’m hoping to eventually put everything I have in the market but I decided now is not that time so I’ll continue to trade 10-20 % of my brokerage account and looking to sell 3-5 % higher . I have been trading once or twice a month for the past 3 months. Not being greedy. So far I’m at about 6 percent return for the year ( on my entire brokerage account) with most of that return in the past 3 months since I started trading at what I hope are bottoms. Been lucky so far and hit on all of my 4 trades. If I miss on a trade I’ll just dollar cost average of it does fall more. Spy dia qqq and amazon are the stocks I am trading . Bought some amazon today at 1519. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day and I’ll sell.
