  1. English Major, here. BA 96, JD 99
  2. My son's roommate is transferring from McComb's to Liberal Arts next semester to major in history. But not because of calculus.
  3. Well, that's a shame. We were heading to that ULM tournament last weekend and watching old Bud Pro Tour Water Ski videos. It was a big, and well-funded sport back in the 90s.
  4. The beer joint is still there?
  5. I've got a close friend whose in-laws just got back to Ft. Meyers. The difficulty is that his MIL has what Royal Tenenbaum would call "a bad case of cancer," and they just made an incredibly difficult move back to Florida from Illinois to get her there for home-nursing care (they've lived in FL for the past decade or so). It looks like the eye wall will pass northwest of them, but given Ft. Meyers location on the Caloosahatchee River, I surmise that it's absolutely not a good place to be right now. Suffice it to say, they cannot (or have made the calculated decision not to) leave given her condition. It looks like winds won't bee too bad at 35 mph. Storm surge of 3--5 feet is more worrisome, but my guess is that they live in a house that was designed to survive that. Still, not a good situation.
  6. That's what I figured. I just sent money for the three of us and sent them a link and told them it was $20 each for them and for each of their 3 boys, who I know to have appetites. They won't think twice about it, and are psyched to come. Looking forward to it!
  7. Bringing some friends with us. Going to send him a link to pay. Before I do, @immamac, are kids also $20 each. Will inform him of the SWAG rule as well. Thanks
  8. I've got a shiny nickle for the first person to post a shamepaint, with Alex Jones on the aggy roller coaster.
  9. We are planning to attend for MS-ST. Will be the wife and I and possibly our younger son. We're traveling from 4 hours away, so I'm not sure I can help with food and have it show up in reasonable condition, but if you have ideas for something that can be put together with reasonable ease and will travel well, let me know.
  10. See Twicehorn's post above. That's close to what a turnover order and appointed receiver seeks to accomplish.
  11. He's an enigma wrapped in a McGriddle.
  12. My brother! I ended up taking accounting (to finish my business foundations "minor") at HCC after I walked. I barely was hanging on and have never grade-grubbed in my life. But I remember talking to the professor before our last exam that summer and telling him I had been accepted to law school and I needed this credit to graduate. I promised him that I never would do any accounting or bookkeeping for anyone or any business if I just could squeak by in his class. I did . . . barely. And I've been true to my word since then.
  13. It possesses the personal information of hundreds of thousands of morons, as well as hundreds of thousands of bots. Now I doubt that information is worth $2.5B. But it might be worth, say, tree-fiddy. /signed, and English Major
  14. This, except a lot of veggies will be beautifully roasted at 400F in 12--15 minutes (in my experience). Depends on the veggies though. I certainly can see carrots taking a bit longer.
  15. It'd be weird if it didn't.

For thickening, you can also add filé at the end of the cook, which helps thicken it up. I drop about a tablespoon into the pot. /edit: I see this was covered. Carry on

    It's what plants crave.
  18. I know it's going to be hard with her being so far away. But it really is great. Having kids in college is great. The stories you'll hear are great (and the ones that aren't, you may not hear about). The first time you visit after move in feels so good, and you'll likely get a sense of that maturing process that occurs from her being on her own for a while. Trust me when I say that these are good things, and you'll be so happy for her.

With frozen crawfish tails, what could go wrong? I'm guessing, the roux process involved many drinks (understandable), and by the end of it all, the chef passed out and the gumbo sat out, cooling naturally on the counter. /ICBW
  20. Mike never had that problem.
