  1. Yeah, but we're all high-minded, Constitutional-law experts. We'd be lost in a straightforward PI case against a robot car and its in'cel master.
  2. It's more of a mission statement for crackers, if I'm honest, but if they would make slightly-burnt Wheat Thins as a stand-alone thing, I would buy it a lot. Now I'm wondering how much Wheat Thins could benefit from a few minutes in the air fryer. Hmm
  3. Tina Fey's mom, tripping balls and vibing with Jerry at the 47 minute mark or so, is great.
  4. And had a miscarriage. Sorry for the bummer tot the story. But, since I have not personal connection to the people involved, but do to the song, what a fucking performance! Next to nearly nothing like it in rock music. But then again, it came during the 1968--1972 Stones era. What a great few decades of music we got, and I hope to hell we get something close again. It's out there. /hopeful, old man
  5. I kind of feel like the top ten spots should just be ceded to the Rolling Stones.
  6. The Nachobursts look amazing (looking and from a components standpoint). I'm sticking with my 2014 LP Traditional. Best pickups ever. But damn, that's sexy.
  7. Still on my visit to 1983. This second set is nuts. Jerry and Brent are locked in together on this one.
  8. I know we've been instructed by Immamac to do no "harm or mayhem" wish-casting, which I understand on a practical level, and by which I will abide. But, it's okay to hope out-loud that he, in fact, shits his pants in public every day, right? And I'm talking about Elmo, because I'm pretty sure my wish has come true on another front.
  9. It's Houston. So it's very unlikely they're walking anywhere. Head to Truth. Guy is coming all the way from North Carolina. What's another five miles to him? And yes, rent a car. Houston's fabled, mass-transit system, upon which Japan's allegedly is based, has that weekend off.
  10. I have two cast iron (I'll send one to college with my older son next year), and four carbon steel pans (two omelette pans). I'm meticulous about caring for them, but I don't obsess about how the season looks. I don't shy away from soap and water (Clean your pans, people!). But the most important thing I learned is to scrub them smooth no matter what. The biggest mistake people make is confusing carbon build-up with seasoning and blaming sticking on seasoning alone rather than considering the effect of temperature control on the equation.
  11. Sometimes it takes quite a bit of salt in my experience, but it definitely works well. The chain mail is just really good at getting the stuck on foods and keeping things from building up. The salt is good for getting a little deeper when there's carbon build up a lot of people mistake for seasoning. One reason those antique cast iron pans are so smooth is that they used to use finer sand to cast them or polished them more to finish. I love my Lodge, but I eventually took an orbital sander to it to smooth it out. From there, I built the seasoning back up and it's nice and smooth like one of the old ones ever since then.
  12. From what I've read, the manual stuffer is the way to go though. My grinder will do it, and I got a cheap foot switch to control things. So I'll probably try that first since I have it. But looking down the road, the manual route may be the way.
  13. Digging her chili (rice), as it were.
  14. I would definitely try that! And now I also want to figure out how to make Knip.
  15. Yes, I actually have a relevant story about this scene playing in the background with another person who was, thenceforth, referred to as "The Natural."
  16. It's directly, albeit with some wiggle room to make it a series and bring it ahead forty years, based on the 1981 movie of the same name written and directed by Alan Alda (hence, his cameo in the series). The movie is an absolute gem, and I'm enjoying the series quite a bit. Reading all the comments on the last page, it looks like no one has seen the movie. In the current iteration, I think Tina Fey's, Steve Carrel's, and Erika Henningsen's performances give pretty solid nods to Carol Burnett's, Len Cariou's, and Bess Armstrong's respective performances in the original film. The rest of the cast in the series is good, but the chemistry between them doesn't hold a candle to the chemistry between the characters, both as couples and as friends, in the movie. But if you find the story relatable, you really should check out the original.

    Old School BMX....

My ramp eventually suffered this same fate when my mom unwittingly drove over it with her car. I was so pissed off.

    Old School BMX....

My dad helped me build a ramp. But it was only about a 2 foot rise. So I moved it to the end of our driveway, which had about a four-foot sloped drop from the level part of the driveway to the street. I used to go flying off that ramp into the middle of the street. It was a blast, and it's a wonder I didn't get run over by a car.
  19. Nah, just kidding. Sounds often. No advice. Just envy.
  20. I just bought a grinder and have my eye on a manual stuffer to compliment it when I replenish the BBQ-funds. Until then, I may try my hand at stuffing with the grinder (and a foot switch). Anyway, for those interested in some good how-to videos, check out Chud's BBQ on Youtube. Bradley does a lot of sausage videos (among other things) and although he's goofy, which seems par for the course with Youtube creators, there's no doubt he knows what he's doing and he has a ton of content. https://www.youtube.com/@ChudsBbq/videos
  21. I was around and paid attention when she was cooking these things. She would show me how to do it, but only when I showed her that I would clean things as I went and not leave a mess in the kitchen. Pot of white rice was one of my favorite things to eat as a young teenager. I'd cook it up, douse it with seasoned salt, black pepper, and butter and eat it with ketchup. And I'd do it today just like that if it weren't my window to weight gain. I made rice in college all the time. I nearly burned down University towers during my first semester after coming home at 2 a.m. properly drunk, putting on a pot of rice, and promptly passing out, only to wake up who knows how long later with a room full of smoke. I guess I mentioned this to my mom, who sent me a Rival Rice Cooker, which lasted me a good 25 years after that. I still make Hamburger Chili Rice from time to time. Everyone seems to enjoy it.
