  1. Not sure on the hickory question, but I definitely was pretty underwhelmed with the place when I tried while traveling back to east Texas from DFW. Maybe I just caught an off-day. Best to him in retirement. Don't mean to be a dick. But I'm kind of a dick. Edit to add that Stanley's in Tyler uses pecan, which is in the hickory family.

  3. The Law firm founded by one of my closest childhood friends, who hopefully will be coming to his first game at DKR this fall (and to the Surly Tailgate), just sued the administration this week on behalf of IMLS.
  4. This one is off to a ripping start.
  5. The Sphere is probably the coolest concert venue EVER. I saw Phish there a year ago. It's almost like I never really need to do it again. I mean, David Byrne Okay. But for the most part, I kind of want to see some outdoor shows again.
  6. I once hit a man in Dearborn, Michigan. A hit and run. I hit him and just kept on going. I don't know if he's alive or dead. But I'm sorry. Not a day goes by I don't see his face.
  7. That hurt, Ellen.
  8. I don't think the next one will be. /I'm not saying I agree. But I understand - Chris Rock
  9. More like the rental car company taking the reservation for a full-sized vehicle but not holding the reservation. Damn it.
  10. . . . meat added?
  11. Are you suggesting that the person who proclaimed to be Don Ho and with whom I sang "Tiny Bubbles" that evening in 1983 was an impostor? Also, in the handshake game, that puts me one handshake away from one Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize .
  12. Tough, but fair (Meat added).
  13. I haven't been to Hawaii in over 40 years. But on my last trip, I sang with Don Ho. Sometimes I wonder how the girl's life turned out. Thanks for the bubbly, Don. /I had lines and everything (edit: not those kind of lines, but the spoken kind). They came out into the audience (dinner situation) and asked me if I wanted to be in the show. They didn't ask my parents, and neither did I. My mom just had noticed I wasn't at the table and was frantically looking for me when she saw me walking across the stage.

    1. Did you have to do their stupid human tricks while on the boat? I'd definitely try to refuse that theoretically. 2. If creatine is the marker, why do you consume so much pre-sample. I had a friend do the same thing (along with a month of abstention), and she had no problems. I'm satisfied with "SCIENCE" as he answer, but . . .
  15. Extra cheese? Nickle beer? Free appetizer? BOGO Lap Dances?
  16. Back in the 80s, my dad used to let the coals burn down, spread them into a circle, put hickory chips and whole pecans in the middle of the circle, and grill over it. So it was direct grilled, but sort of spread out like a reverse sear. They probably would have been overdone for your taste, but they consistently were damned good. No matter how you do it, a butter basting at the end is the real cheat code.
  17. Looks to be better than anything he's done in years. IN!
  18. Broke is the new woke.
  19. When my kids were little, we used to call that sippy-cup fermented product "Texas Car Cheese."
  20. During the early panic buying of COVID, I saw an old man with a grocery basket full of off-brand Ho-Hos and Ding Dongs---Little Debbie type shit. A friend of mine saw a local District Judge with a basket full of Coke Zero and cured hams.
  21. There is an ad-tier of Netflix that is $8 per month rather than $18. Also, if you have Hulu and cancel, they will offer it to you for $3 per month for six months. Cancel on the six month and they'll offer you another 6 months at $3 per month. The Bear has one more season. I can deal with $3.
