  1. What I responded to was an answer to an earlier post of mine that, validly, challenged my premise about the damage Haley might do Trump. That person didn't say all the voters would go to Trump, but saying that Haley would endorse Trump suggested the effect would be minimal. I don't presume to say what portion of Haley voters will do anything. I don't think it's unsupportable that she is likely making it easier for non-Trumper GOPs to vote for someone else which, in turn, may make it easier for them to vote Dem in the general or, much more likely, not vote for anyone.
  2. You might be able to send it to PO Box 111126, Fuckadelphia PA 90320. Or the box may not have been secured yet. Fluid.
  3. I'm not ready to say goodbye to 2024 yet. I'm not ready to start learning a bunch of new names for next year. I'm geared for a February transition. I don't like change.
  4. I never thought I'd have someone tell me that I'm giving too much credit to any Republicans. I don't predict or know what percentage of Haley voters may sit the next election out rather than vote for Trump. Whatever that percentage is, I think that Haley staying in the race solidifies it and maybe increases it. I'm maybe the worst predicter of what voters will do in the history of the game. I don't think it's a particularly risky prediction that some Haley voters aren't really that interested in Haley. She's all they have left if they're looking for a way to keep Trump out of office. Anyone calling themself a Republican is someone voting to harm the nation. They blind themselves to the deceit, but, like Pence and maybe Haley, there may be a line they're unwilling to cross even for the criminal organization they patronize.
  5. No offense, but this is old thinking about prior elections. Many persons voting for Haley are doing so because they don't want Trump. They want to vote GOP, but they don't want a traitor. Who really gives a shit about Haley in any other context? We're not the only ones who see an existential threat. If she endorses Trump, I don't think those voters slavishly shuffle over to the Trump camp. I also don't see her expecting much from Trump by endorsing him. All she really gets is some shame for capitulating, so why rush to do that? I like that she exists as an alternative vote in the GOP to keep levering doubters further from the would-be dictator.
  6. Pro-republic citizens should donate to her. It's not a horse race, and I don't care that she will lose to Trump. The far far bigger issue is wounding Trump. If she stays in and keeps pulling a third or more of the vote from Dictator Donald, she loosens his grip on some wavering GOPs. The goal is to keep this motherfucker out of office. Good for Haley for fighting. The fucking template analysis of what should happen after a loss in NH based on history is totally irrelevant to the future of the republic. She has every reason to keep running to help keep Trump out of office. If this is the reason that she has decided to stick, then she is another GOP acting in the best interests of the country. Like Pence, it would be a shining moment in a largely despicable political career.
  7. Biden may have saved the republic from a terrible man who proved he had no regard for this republic or its democratic processes. If he hasn't saved it, he at least delayed its fall. No achievement named above matches that.
  8. It sure makes Lake out to be a person of integrity with a great voice. Hmmmm. Who recorded it? Presumably Lake. Why? It concretizes her MAGAness. Thus: It's a political play. But The guy in the audio is hanging himself. There is more than one mention of possible murder. The script is actually very good if it is indeed scripted. I mean written at a level that is hard to attain even for professionals. The references to "back East" sound like they're made with real trepidation. Is there a chance that it was a thinly veiled threat that Lake published both to demonstrate her devotion to Trumpism and get it out there that she's in danger in order to deter that kind of action? I really don't know. This is the GOP criminal organization here willing to do anything to hold power and keep it from a usurping outsider such as Trump. They take Russian money. They lie as a matter policy. How far might the big money boys go in trying to protech their hold on power through the GOP? I never thought I'd live in an America with these questions on the line.
  9. Just as it took TV news outlets 3 years of Trump's presidency to call his lies lies, how long will it take them (if they ever dare do it) to refer to Trump as an authoritarian candidate? I think you could say, based on quotes from Trump, he desires to become a dictator. It's right there in the open. OBVIOUS. I was driving in the evening and turned on NPR's breathless coverage of the NH Primary. All the usual commentary and individual voter quotes to support whatever they think the story is. 1. It's absurd that the primary in tiny (but truly lovely) New Hampshire has such impact so early in the race. The talking heads explain why it and the even tinier nothing in Iowa are important: Perception. You fucking idiots are the ones who created the perception element and have magnified it every cycle by foisting wall to wall coverage on your audience. It will never change. I still hate it. 2. Break the template. Break your tone of aloof amusement about the process. Open your fucking eyes and see the real story: A would-be dictator who has announced his intentions to use law enforcement and the Army to crush enemies and control states. It's actually a pretty big story. Now to Sadie Plasma in Concord, "Mary Louise, I'm talking to a voter who is unhappy with both choices this year..." Exciting, enlightening man on the street commentary ensues. 3. Review your work. Have a meeting in the conference room. Provide donuts and fancy coffee. "What did we cover that was essential to the story of how this election could affect the republic? Did we actually report anything that resembled news? How many times did we rehash the same tired shit over and over? Are we journalists or lazy fuckwads who wouldn't know a watershed moment in history if it kicked us in the dick then ate one of our legs? American TV "journalism" is such a part of the problem. Atlantic published a great issue about What If Trump Wins? Many digestible stories of what is at stake from from how the government will become a Trump tool to the denial of history. I don't like living in an argument proof society. I hate living in a society where naked truth is either ignored or gussied up. I find myself just a little frustrated, my friends.
  10. Whatever works. Your plan looks fine to me.
  11. This is pretty pathetic on Texags: Isn't this kind of cheating and not part of their sacred oath and code?
  12. If he has never won before, I think you may be correct. His body of work needs to be recognized. He's a remarkable talent.
  13. Exactly what we should ask of such vague notions as "the war on terror." Again, I go to Woody Allen in Love and Death (sadly not nearly as good as I recall it) when he asked of a sergeant saying how Russia must win. "What do we win?"
  14. I admire the way you re-examine your position. Compliments. Neutrality is within the policy options that I would approve of. I would insist on humanitarian aid for Gaza which would be protected by the US and maybe NATO from interference from anyone. I might even fill the skies with American/NATO planes when convoys or airlifts are conducted. Again, I truly admire the working of your mind.
  15. I thought it was easily the best movie of that year. Titanic did exceed my minimal expectations, and, once that boat hits the iceberg, it's very good.
  16. It is a masterpiece. I don't get the fascination with Taylor Sheridan. His first three movies are very good. Since then? Meh. Maybe he'll deliver on this material, but it's far from a sure thing. There's unlimited lattitude with how one tells the stories and history comprising that stellar book.
  17. I don't think it's the best movie of the year or even in my top four, but I am glad it's a movie of some substance and very well made. I'm also happy that some of the movies that I prefer are at least nominated. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the movies admired on this bulletin board, particularly The Zone of Interest. There's not a single movie nominated that makes me roll my eyes. I've yet to see Barbie because I, evidently errantly, thought it would be just such a movie. A great variety in scale, subject matter, and commercialness. Couldn't ask for much more.
  18. What do you mean by amazing? Do you mean Bo wasn't amazing? Do you mean Wright likely won't be amazing? I can name 13 coaches that are amazing that we should be able to snap our fingers and get. I won't admit that whoever we hire is one of the amazing coaches on that list because I'm dug in here. Nothing will be amazing or optimal! DARRELL ROYAL GAVE AWAY THE WISHBONE TO OKLAHOMA!!!!
  19. Yes. I would have preferred to just follow the flashback story and leave all the futuristic stuff on the cutting room floor.
  20. American Hustle, Saturday. Odd that I recalled the movie being so good but remembering so little about it. Fantastic rewatch. Of course, there's the original for the great Texas joining the SEC sequence. Quiz Girl, Sunday. Poor. Predictable. Lots of shouting supposed to heightened the comedy. Other than a scene Ferrel has with Akwafina backstage, not a genuine moment to be found. Sandra Oh is unrecognizable.
  21. Thanks. Thought I might be losing it. ETA So the truck smashing the car was just random?
