  1. Parents that don't control their kids in a restaurant. I watched a 2 YO making an absolute mess of the table, standing on the chair, hiding behind other people's chairs while the mom looked... at her phone. The last straw for the server was when the kid was doing yoga in the middle of an aisle, surrounded a pile of rice, watching a phone (apparently just for him, because mom has her own). I think it's normal for little kids to make a mess, but the parents should be responsible for cleaning up their mess. My wife and I would always go under the table to pick up anything that may have dropped. Most parents would as well, but there have been plenty of times when the parents just pick up and leave with shit all over the tables and floors.
  2. We sold 2 cars to shift. They offered more than carmax or carvana.
  3. I had gone to Vegas for my friend's bachelor party. After a weekend of strippers and booze, I sat in McCarran waiting to go home, when South West announced they were cancelling the flight because of some security incident at John Wayne Santa Ana airport. They offered a $50 hotel voucher and a booking on the 3PM flight on Monday. While me and 100+ other passengers were in line to speak to a ticketing agent, I started chatting with a few guys ahead of me. We somehow hatched a plan to rent a car and drive back to Orange County. On the way to the Avis counter, we picked up 3 more passengers for the ride home. So by 11 PM we were finally on the road - all of us a bit tenuous, a bit exhilarated at the prospect of spending the next 5 hours with complete strangers. Any drive from LA to Vegas and back, is not complete without stopping at the In-N-Out in Barstow; so we stopped for double-doubles, sitting together like we were old friends. By the time we got to SNA, it was already 3 AM. I had work at 8, and a client meeting at 11. If that happened now, I'd get a rental and drive back alone, but finances were an issue at the time, so that seemed like the best / most logical decision. Looking back, I'm glad I did that for no other reason than to have a good story to tell to my kids.
  4. Your salesmanship sucks. Have you thought about having Neikea advertise it for you?
  5. It’s all part of Kevin’s nefarious plan. Get them drunk. Fucking wreck them.
  6. Everyday. I feel naked without one. Sometimes I leave the house without a watch, and will go back to get one. 5 mechanical watches that I have to wind up / restart. Because of that, they're not as accurate as my iphone. But good enough to know I'm late for work, and when it's time to leave the bar. My next watch will be a cheap Casio digital watch because nostalgia.
  7. Appreciate the fact that she’s playing a candy apple red Strat (David Gilmour’s other guitar when he wasn’t playing the black Strat) /DavidGilmourNerd
  8. I bought a bunch of gold and silver in the early 2010s when there was a rush on silver. In retrospect I should have bought more gold because it has gone up 20% since then, and also because the value to weight ratio is a lot higher. Now I’m sitting on almost 700 ounces of silver with an average buy price of almost $30/oz. Debating whether I should just take the loss on silver and trade it in for more gold.
  9. Some random thoughts... When I sleep, I like to pull the covers up just below my mouth. If I fall asleep on the couch wearing just a t-shirt and shorts, no matter what the temperature it is in the house, I will wake up shivering violently until I warm up.
  10. A camp where they can be concentrated? Yes please.
  11. Kid took the terrible twos to a whole ‘nother level.
  12. Between yoga class and trolling TJ Maxx Home Goods on a Friday evening, a gentleman from Surly can probably get decent about of desperate, lonely, 40 year old, divorced poon.
  13. My favorite was him trying to tip over the cooler at the end, and the guy caught it. Yeah, his parent and friends need to get their ass kicked as well. I have low tolerance for racial slurs. Dealt with that too much while growing up.
  14. Mine haven’t been that interesting… A bunch of crotchety old white guys. A woman on on crutches. A flamboyant Vietnamese-black guy. Lieutenant Ricker at the Wooten. A 30-40 YO Taiwanese woman who would rub her boobs on my teenage arm. My mom. The last crotchety old guy was the best. Too bad the landlord ended his lease after he had been there for almost 40 years.
  15. I bought 2 small burritos from Del Taco. I only needed 4 little packs of hot sauce, but now I’m looking at the 12 leftover. Fast food workers are stupid.
  16. Where is the kangaroo? Does anyone have have the "series" starting with the shark?
