  1. Don't we have amphibious ships (landing ships etc.) that could deliver smaller loads directly to the beach? I guess the security issues are too much for that, though: crowds would rush them, occupants might be attacked, and we sure don't want American forces firing at a crowd to get away. Just frustrating all the way around.
  2. I'm gonna presume some epic boobs. Because this is the internet.
  3. Don't make us take this thread where it was always meant to go......
  4. Did you offer the defendants a 7-10 split settlement?
  5. Yeah....in one of mine, we were on a break in the hearing where the judge had ordered us all into the jury room to see if we could work out a resolution. The party on the other side was a W. Texas oilpatch dude who was very used to getting his way, and was ripshit pissed that he wasn't getting it in that case. I was sitting in a chair, leaned back and offering our terms. He came at me, fists balled up and ready to go. I remember watching him and thinking "he's gonna punch me while I'm sitting here in this chair. That'll hurt.....but goddamned if we won't be in the driver's seat on this case after that." His attorney also grasped what was going on, and jumped to his feet to steer his client away. Not sure if I'm glad he did....woulda made for a cooler story if he followed through and left the court in handcuffs.
  6. Last night, while I was driving some clients from a client dinner, we drove by one of two courthouses in this state where I have come THIS close to getting into a fistfight. Didn't start either confrontation....but I was ready to finish 'em. It's Texas, that shit happens from time to time. I bet you lean heavily on "heretofore, "whereas," and "in the instant question." Supra.
  7. We did indeed have that discussion. But I told you I was out because I really am not a big musical theater fan, and it just seems gauche to give someone a handjob during a ballet. I mean, I presumed that giving public handjobs during some sort of performance was now a requirement of the job - I wasn't wrong about that, was I?
  8. Yeah...there must be some stone-cold evidence showing a busted utility pole as the point of origin. Still, wonder about the interplay of that statement with their insurance coverage, if they coordinated with the carrier before making it, etc. Recall that there was similar litigation against Bluebonnet Electric (and importantly, the company that did their tree trimming - or failed to do so) after the Bastrop fires. That was all insurance money in play.
  9. Also, I presume that this is going to be the board's new go-to image when the topic is someone having a sandy vag.
  10. Pro tip: brush that sand off before using. Just…trust me on this.
  11. You know what would get all those records right quick? A criminal subpoena through the DOJ. Boeing is in full FAFO mode.
  12. Won’t happen. He loses by 8-10 points.
  13. I understand (but I admit to not having all the details, nor was I ever going to ask) that the child of some folks I know died from just such a circumstance (smoked some weed that somehow was tainted with fentanyl). Some discussion of whether it was laced, or just cross-contaminated. So, don't know how big of a risk it really is. BTW, a year ago, I had a surgical procedure, and when I came out, I had a HELLACIOUS post-anesthesia headache. Debilitating. They gave me a dose of fentanyl. It might as well have been a tic-tac. Vicodin has worked for me in the past, Fentanyl did nothing.
  14. This. The dumbfucks will never learn. The leopards will eat your face. Always. 100% of the time.
  15. I know a lot about Albania. For example, it borders on the Adriatic. Its land is mostly mountainous. And its chief export is chrome.
  16. Is he a highly visible conservative "Christian" figure? Then signs point to "yes."
  17. I know, right. I don't want to commit sexual assault. I mean, I don't even WANT to become a youth pastor!
  18. The other day, I wanted potato egg and cheese tacos made with crispy hashbrown-type potatoes, but I had none, so I improvised. I had a partial bag of tots in the freezer, but I wasn't going to be patient enough to cook hem fully in oil or othe oven. Microwaved 10 of them for 45 seconds, till they got soft enough to smush down. Smushed em, which made them like thin mini hashbrowns. Then, heated up 1/4 inch of oil in a pan, tossed the flattened tots in, and fried on each side for maybe a minute. Cooked through completely, hot and crispy, dash of salt, and put em on my taco. It's going to be my go-to for such tacos from now on. Super easy and fast.
  19. Do you know a 100% guaranteed way for this "Rescue Team" to save children who are being sexually abused and exploited right now, as we speak? Bug the devices of every single "youth pastor" in America. In terms of numbers of abused children it will save, there is no action that could have a higher ROI. If you REALLY are all about protecting kids from sexual abuse, you'd support that, Tim. But you're not. Because you're just another drooling Christofascist dumbfuck who protects the actual predators with every fiber of your being. Tim Tebow isn't even a piece of shit, because pieces of shit can actually serve a purpose and be turned into fertilizer. He's worse.
  20. There's one thing I do give a fuck about, and I've made it clear: I don't want my son coming back here and being pressed into military service in the event of a civil war. I don't care for what side. Enough of us have chosen shittiness that this place just isn't worth him fighting and dying for. Maybe this country WAS worth fighting and dying for at one point. I grew up thinking it was. But today? Nope. If we are intent on taking ourselves to hell, we can do it without me and my family on board that train. Good luck.
  21. I'm one of those. No apologies. It takes a particular personality type -- that probably speaks poorly of me, but at least I'm self aware. I'm also one of the dying breed of litigators who is also a regular appellate practitioner (and pretty damned good at it). I like both aspects. But yes, dealing with....people....has become more challenging these last few years. As our society descends into completely fractious disorder, it's fucking tough. This is the hardest part, actually -- the "Calvinball" nature of the courts. It used to be, you could follow a court's opinions and record, and "what the law is" on certain issues, and advise your clients with some predictability as to how they should act to avoid risk, and/or what the court was likely to do once we're before that court. Now....who knows? Sure, the law says X, Fox News and Trump say Y, so....yeah, I can't tell you how it will go. On the "bright side," that's crystalizing more every day. What would Trump/Paxton demand the court do? Then that's what they'll do. It really doesn't matter what the case law says. That's frustrating as hell. I can't tell you how many attorneys and decisionmaker I've talked to who are utterly exasperated by this state of affairs. It makes it impossible to do business, and certainly impossible to do anything that might touch on "the public good" (because if it's good for the public....it's bad, and should be stopped). I started practicing law in a Constitutional Republic. Today, I'm practicing law in a banana republic, and that's not what I fucking trained for.
  22. No. For CR reasons. That issue was decided in yesterday's primaries. We won't know which direction this country will go till November 6th, so no action that could support Ukraine will be taken till then.
  23. Life is going to get more horrific than you are capable of imagining. That's how these things go, all throughout history.
