  1. Yeah....we've got some similar issues. I'm looking at spending some real dollars to get some folks in to clear any remaining dead vegetation from a decent perimeter, removing all the leaf litter, and such. And I'm thinking about a rooftop fire suppression sprinkler system. There's some cost involved, but geez. The risk is only going up.
  2. Yeah....even the images from the side of the overall scene. Fuck. That's nightmare fuel. The fact that no matter what you do, how prepared and safe you are, etc.....there's always a non-zero chance of something like this that is totally out of your control taking out your entire family....fuck. The mere concept has made me sick to my stomach once we became a family, and I don't think that gnawing fear will ever go away.
  3. Lol he even gets butthurt when he loses at Catan or Ticket to Ride. What a bitch ass They’re all bitchasses. They felt inadequate, unloved, etc, and they are trying to fill the void. Simple success doesn’t fill it. Massive success doesn’t fill it. Power used to succeed more doesn’t fill it. Eventually they try welding power with petulance and cruelty…and that doesn’t fill it. Nothing ever can or will. And we will all pay the price as they ratchet shit up, and up, till their dying day. Oligarchs are evil, and among the most destructive forces humanity has ever seen. They would literally destroy every human on earth if they thought it would bring them the sense of value and self-worth that they can never seem to reach,
  4. WTF? That’s fucking horrific.
  5. Around $80 million per plane, X 28 planes. That’s over $2 billion in lost sales for Lockheed.
  6. Some years ago, I was in a W. Texas courtroom, representing the good local folks against an overreaching and arrogant oilman type, who was used to getting his way. After an afternoon in court, he was most definitely not getting his way. After telling him what was what, the judge ordered us to the jury room to talk things over and see if we could work out a deal. We went there. I sat in a chair, and laid out our position and expectations (we had the upper hand, and I wasn't giving it away). He got RIPSHIT pissed. He got up from his chair across the room, and he came at me, with no doubt as to his intentions. And I recall sitting there in my chair, thinking with a slight grin "he's going to punch me. It's going to hurt. Also, I'm going to win this whole damned case, he's going to write me a personal check, and he's gonna spend the night in jail." My grin got bigger. I didn't move -- I wanted him to punch me in a chair in a room full of witnesses. Because that's how you fucking WIN. Unfortunately, HIS lawyer saw what was happening, jumped up, and cut him off. We still did well that day, but man....him punching a defenseless man sitting in a chair would have handed me total victory on a silver platter. Make them do incredibly shitty things in broad daylight. It's how they lose any legitimacy they had. Make 'em do shit like this:
  7. That was covered when you typed "she."
  8. Well, that's swell. Let's make insurance rates skyrocket without doing anything to actually mitigate the risk. Swell.
  9. NowThis is Elon? Elon is NowThis? IT ALL MAKES SENSE!
  10. This. I really, really want someone to send me the crib notes of the Business School course that all these Patagonia vest-wearing PE types obviously took. The course that says "enshitten everything. Take something that people loved and were loyal to, find out why they loved it and were loyal to it, and remove every single thing they state as a reason for said love and loyalty." It's about sucking as much cash out of the entity over the next 1-4 quarters, then dumping your stake in the lifeless husk that remains.
  11. See, just like that, no more FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE! Surely DOGE is getting rid of pointless frivolity, like video game systems in government offices. Surely. They have to be. Right? Wait, what's that? DOGE is a fucking lie told by and staffed by complete sociopaths? Well golly jeepers, I'm shocked.
  12. Just remember what the Second Amendment fans have been shouting from the mountaintops for the past 20 years. Not my words. Theirs.
  13. Give us time, we'll turn this into a cross between the Ewers thread, Jade's chili thread, and "chicks Vic Mackey would dig" thread. And it still won't even come close to matching up to the real-world shitshow unfolding before our eyes.
  14. You want to know who was instrumental in agreeing to, putting together, and then executing on the plan known as the "Final Solution?" Unelected senior appointees of the administration. Unelected senior appointees of the administration. If you want to know where evil comes from, look to where the planning and orders came from. In both that past and our present, look to unelected senior appointees of the administration as the responsible parties. Looking fucking RIGHT AT YOU, ELON, YOU RACIST FASCIST FUCK WHOSE SOLE ACT OF SERVICE TO HUMANITY WOULD BE SELF-ADMINISTERED LEAD POISONING.
  15. However, those payments can be processed through the Mar A Lago "payment center" for a low, low, 20% transaction fee. Or some shit like that. Look for the grift/scam. You WILL find it.
  16. blah blah blah, the cruelty is the point. Kid should have chosen her parents better. Not sure when everyone is going to grasp that "the more utterly cruel, the better" is our entire national ethos right now.
  17. I love the idea that authoritarianism regimes stop when the people they are shitting on tell them to stop. Sure. There's a first time for everything, I guess. And by the way, "protest" has already been defined by this admin as refusing to purchase a product (see the statements from the regime pronouncing the decision not to buy a Tesla as an "illegal and collusive boycott"). Fail to buy regime-approved products? Instead buying products from companies disfavored by the regime? That y'all think that authoritarians will just go a bit far, and then stop.....well, that's a take. One not based on any historical precedent, but sure. If thinking that way brings you comfort, have at it. Just don't delude yourself into thinking it's based in reality.
  18. Yep. Just tourists, checking out the sights. Isn't that the "January 6th play?" Peaceful tourists, just checking out an important landmark related to our beloved President.
  19. Who cares? In fact, the more public violence the brownshirts commit, the better. Make them be lawless fascists in the full light of day. Because they won't stop at merely arresting these people (as is their right). They'll beat them for fun, to make a point, to set an example, and to "teach them a lesson," all of which is outside what they are legally permitted to do. Make fascists be fascists for the world to see. It's an important step.
  20. FIF accuracy, because the entire purpose of the Federal Government is now to serve Elon's and Trump's personal whims and emotional outbursts. It is a fully-owned toy to them, and that's it.
  21. BUT.... ^^^^ This. ...he posts as the administration has already suggested that protests against the activities of an admin insider and one of its biggest supporters will be deemed "terrorism." The relentless response of "nothing is wrong until the final, irrevocable action of the authoritarian regime happens....by which time it is much, much, MUCH too late to do anything about it" is consistent. We suggest over and over that we really ought to put out that fire that's burning before the winds get much stronger, and the relentless and unwavering response is "it's not that windy right now, and Pacific Palisades has been around forever -- it's not going to burn." It's so maddening to watch this unfolding before our eyes, when we all know how it goes.
  22. Well, but your message board slight (which I took most personally, and will go on a neg rampage about forthwith) raised a legit point. A lot of people actually have an opportunity to make a real difference - more than just yelling online or in the streets - via their daily work, either professional or personal. Use your position to push back, to tilt things the right direction, or even just to throw some sand in the gears. It's important.
  23. I will suggest that as a member of the bar, I do work that I will never discuss on a public message board, consistent with my ethical duties and restrictions. Thus, if you think that the only thing I am doing with respect to the future of our society and government is posts on a message board, you are incorrect. And for the stated reasons, I will leave it at that. I will suggest that most people, in their professional or personal lives, have things they can do to resist, put sand in the gears, take a counter-offensive, etc. Many of those measures can be quite effective, especially as part of a concentrated and coordinated effort. Take advantage of your position and the opportunities it presents. And know that it is likely that the rest of the world won't see what you do in the light of day because you are not doing it performatively for cameras or TikTok or shit like that.
  24. What I find fascinating is that Trump has managed to unite much of the world like no other POTUS before: most of Europe, Canada, Mexico, much of Latin America, Africa..... ...now, how he has united them is in their hatred and resentment of the United States. But hey, let's not quibble.
