For my frozen dessert needs back in those days -- which were usually related to a date or somesuch -- I took a lady to Amy's or even Baskin Robbins on the drag. A shake from Mad Dogs or Players was also in the mix. I lived a couple of blocks away from TCBY for 4 years, and I truly can't recall ever going there. And when I drive by it now....I have NEVER seen a car there or person inside getting yogurt. Makes me wish I was an owner, because whatever the scam is....it must be lucrative as hell.

Imagine thinking that a strategy that incentivizes numerous additional nation states becoming nuclear armed (if you don't have a nuclear deterrent right now, you should get one) is the one that's LESS likely to lead to nuclear conflict. We've had proxy conflicts between nuclear powers. Several of them....see the mid-20th century, including a complex and ongoing "Cold War" during that period. Nuclear proliferation was relatively limited during that period (some additional nation states acquired nukes, but a whole bunch did not). Hell, nuclear proliferation was REDUCED at the end of the Cold War by promising former Soviet Republics that their security and independence would be guaranteed if they gave up their nukes (Russia being one of the parties making that promise.....which it has broken the hell out of). If you are interested in making nuclear conflict LESS likely, then a path that draws the line here and now, and shows nation states that they do not need to obtain their own nukes to become a porcupine too prickly to swallow is the smart path. Ana is 100% opposed to that path. Indeed, he favors only one path: full capitulation to Russia (who has no fault or responsibility for anything that has happened, because the west was "asking for it" when......Ukraine actually resisted and fought back against a corrupt Russian puppet in Yanukovych -- you can't blame Russia for getting mad that it couldn't keep a completely controlled puppet government in place in a purportedly "independent" country!) Full capitulation....to nuclear blackmail. Yeah, that SURELY won't lead to other states worried about a similar fate getting nukes of their own (and why shouldn't they be worried -- our approach to Ukraine tells them "look, if you want to have a fighting chance, you best get some nukes of your own"). Nevermind the fact that this take -- which purports to be super-concerned about anything seen as anti-democratic or less than pure in Ukraine -- ignores the MASSIVE such failings and bullshit from Russia on the same front. Imagine 1) complaining about a country not having a perfect democracy, 2) having some dangerous/cruel ideology in segments of its society, 3) being combative......and then concluding YEP, Russia is the good guy! Log in your own eye, to cry about the speck in Ukraine's. Nobody is lily-white on this earth. But to relentlessly champion Putin's oligarchical autocratic kleptocracy....well, that certainly is a take.

Oh, I have (it's been a while). Trust me, I know how to get punched pretty hard and bleed. Hell, that's why I decided I didn't like fighting much as I matured: even when you "win," the other guy usually lands a few, and punches hurt. Also, chicks hated it when dudes fought, and when I was out and about and tensions got high to where a fight was possible, I was also likely at a bar or somesuch trying to meet girls. End up in fight with random dumbass vs. chat up the cute brunette with the button nose at the end of the bar? No-brainer, man. But what I'm suggesting is not exactly novel. It's right out of the civil rights movement and Ghandi's nonviolent resistance. Make the oppressor take offensive, brutal action against you in the light of day. Those sorts of images turn the stomach of civilized people, or even people who like to think they're civilized. Images like this changed the world.

America's Foreign Policy & Other Shit Going On Around the World thread
Brisketexan replied to bolverk's topic in Cloak Room
I said it before, and people think I'm hysterical (that's okay, I'm used to it -- I'm also used to being right about this fucking guy)....but Canada should absolutely be in full-on top-speed preparations for violent conflict with the US. Preparing to blow bridges (both at the border and in the US interior -- get your sapper teams in here and have them biding their time), technological disruptions, blowing electric and petroleum supply lines (both at the border and internal), etc. Use their existing intel and military sharing connections to pre-plan sabotage of American equipment, communications, and forces. Canada can't win a war. But they can be a porcupine that TFG can't swallow. They would be fucking stupid NOT to be doing those things, and doing them right now. Yeah. We live in a world where the only rational move for Canada is to prepare for war with the United States. Jesus fucking Christ this is the dumbest timeline imaginable, and there is no bottom to its stupidity. -
Oh. I see that you are interested in the investment prospectus for Brisketexan's FreedomEagleGunJesus Patriot Academy for Young Patriots and Real Americans. Our curriculum will be focused on freedom, eagles, guns, and Jesus, and we will not allow any wokeness or DEI. All instruction will be provided by the greatest, most patriotic resource available: output from Elon's Grok. Tuition will be the full $10,000 per kid voucher amount. Costs will be $1,000 per kid, as all instruction will be conducted in a large warehouse we acquired at a bankruptcy auction, with two proctors/security guards on hand to ensure that they are focused on their trademarked FreedomEagleGunJesus lessons. We will also have a football team, because Texas. As superintendent, I will draw a small stipend, probably under $1 million, and the remainder of our profits - I mean, "surplus" -- will be distributed to the fine people who invested to Make Education Great Again. You better act fast, there's only a limited number of Class-A investor slots available.

The TCBY on MLK by campus is still there. It has been there for what, 40 years? Number of people I know who have actually gone there for yogurt: 0.0 It HAS to be a front for something.

Pretty sure she’s who we sat next to at a Killers show in NY a coupla years ago. When she found out we were from Austin, she started talking about her new project, asked us if we had heard of the murders (ummmm…yeah, we moved here then). I asked about any new info, and she of course didn’t seem to have any. I think we kind of annoyed her when we said “yeah, we know the story.”

Not when his customers are the stupidest people to ever walk the earth: Americans.

Dude. We’ve seen the “marketing” that works on the American people: it’s lies all the way down. A firehose of lies is THE thing that works. We should get one.

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]

TLDR; Russia and the US are busy shooting themselves in the dick, and China is all

Yes. Like I said, Calvin Ball. Alito quite simply believes that executive power must be constrained when the executive is a democrat, but is truly limit less when the executive is Donald Trump. He has no guiding principles other than that. It is amazing how thoroughly he has beclowned himself.

It was a Russian strike aimed at a civilian target. For the purpose of terrorizing people. Dude. Russia is a terrorist state.

I don’t want attention. I want something to happen that 1) will get the attention of a critical mass of American assholes, 2) to a degree that will get them to change their ways. Read a history book about movements/trends similar to the one we’re in. They all show a common theme: the only thing that checks those boxes is incredible pain and suffering. Often - routinely - in the form of horrific war. These. Do you think I WANT it to be this way? FFS, I’ve spent a third of my life waving my arms screaming “DON’T GO THERE! IT ENDS IN BLOOD!” But the American people insist on finding out, the hard way. I’d rather we get that “hard way” over and done with right quick. All the pain, fast, now. So we can stop this destructive shit before it’s too late.

The Leopards Eating Faces and Unlubed Dildo of Consequences Thread
Brisketexan replied to Horn Dog's topic in Cloak Room
This is the way. This is also the way. Fight back. Fight hate with hate, pain with pain. We didn’t convince hateful fascists to change their ways in the 1940’s with thoughtful policy discussions. We had to hurt them until they cried uncle. Hurt these people. Every bit of their pain gets us one step closer to possibly arresting pro horrific slide. -
Also…THAT’S A BINGO. The supreme leader of our country, answerable to and controlled by no one, literally said that. And you think I’m the one rooting for pain? JFC. I want us to do everything possible to stop the worst outcome. Elon and Trump don’t give a shit that you’re wringing your hands over what I said. They’ll happily see you and yours at the bottom of a pile of bodies, and give negative shits about it. Wake up.
-
Counterpoint: Putin tells TFG he can PERSONALLY have half of the wealth of the nations the Russia-US alliance conquers. Trump will 100% commit the full might of the US military to obtain personal profit. Stop thinking the unthinkable won’t happen. It’s already happening.
-
Nope. Just answer this: what will motivate the American people to act to arrest our breakneck plunge into irrevocable authoritarianism? Everyone with an IQ above 50 knows the answer is “sufficient pain.” It doesn’t matter whether it’s terrorism (which, by the way, would almost certainly kill a fraction of a fraction of the number of people who will die in the coming months and years from unnecessary cancers, relaxed regulations allowing open poisoning and catastrophic safety failures, outbreaks of preventable diseases, suicides due to job loss and economic collapse, and the thousand other vectors of suffering that comes with Elon’s and Trump’s plans for us). The irony is that I’m hoping for LESS suffering, just sooner, in order to spur us to action. Trolley problem shit, but some of yall seem to still think that nobody getting hit by the trolley is still an option. It’s not. So…choose.
-
I am. We want suffering and pain. We voted for it. We celebrate it when it’s visited on “the other.” We are incapable of understanding how stupid awful it is until the leopards start eating OUR faces. Fine. I won’t root for the leopards to eat our faces. Instead, I’ll root for us just marching towards our authoritarian future. Where - and I’ve got bad news for you - the leopards FEAST. You can choose pain now, or you can choose unending pain later. Those are the options. They suck.

Like I said…the guy yelling about the risk of WWIII is shoving the world toward its inevitability as hard as he can. It’s coming. We can’t stop it. The really shitty thing is that the US is going to end up fighting side-by-side with Russia against our former allies.
-
I’ve already gotten my kids out of this shithole country, and have ordered them under no uncertain terms NOT to come back and fight for it. We’ve demonstrated that we’re not worth a single drop of their blood. I don’t really fucking care anymore. We’ve chosen pain. Let it come.
-
The irony of Trump screaming “you’re risking WWIII!”…making WWIII VASTLY more likely. Fuck it. I don’t care anymore. Let’s do it, and get it over with. It’s inevitable now.
-
So…You’re ok with the regime continuing its rampage unabated - culminating in irrevocable authoritarianism - because the American people just haven’t been hurt enough to spur them to action. Noted. And NOW you’re worried about stochastic terrorism. FFS, that’s a foundational tactic of our current regime…but we’re just supposed to hope and wish for rainbows and puppy dogs.

Note Ana’s last para, listing things that purportedly bother him greatly, yet 1) they’re things that are literally defining parts of Russia’s brand, and 2) Ana is giddy about our new alliance with our sole ally….Russia. Those things he listed don’t bother Ana at all. They only bother him when they are against Russia’s (and thus Trump’s) interests. Seriously…Ana…calling out things like banning political opposition. One thing about this timeline for sure: irony is dead and buried.
