  1. Fuck it, let’s DFA Montero, too. Clean break with GM Crane.
  2. And made the CF look bad, win-win
  3. Good, pour it on
  4. I don’t know what else Loperfido needs to do to take at bats away from Chas.
  5. Haha, @Wulaw Horn will be talking shit now!
  6. It just occurred to me that the Orioles might someday be the answer to the question “what if Luhnow wasn’t fired?”
  7. He and cabbage were hacking. So was Myers last inning but after that catch he gets a pass.
  8. I’ve had Graveman‘s surgery. Maybe he meant September of 2025.
  9. My question was somewhat rhetorical in nature; what I mean is that there really isn't any other option. I'm sure a good bit of the foot dragging on AISD's part is because the families with means will scream the loudest and the families without tend to be minorities and there's just no winning. One consequence may be that parents find there are public charter schools more proximate and that results in head count loss.
  10. Yes, that's exactly it--it will require shutting down schools. Conceptually I'm confused why making this accommodation is seen as irrational to AISD parents--I grew up in a small town pre-Robin Hood and 30 minute bus rides were the norm and we didn't have additional money for anything. And I hope they are angry; they have every right to be. Maybe they'd like to get off their collective asses before the state takeover. I don't think we're going to get ANY sympathy outside of town, but I still agree with you. Symbolic or not, inaction is just asking for more of the same.
  11. I think we can all agree that Austin ISD is screwed in the current arrangement. What I cannot understand understand is their failure to adapt to it. It’s like there’s a budget shortfall every year… Also, given the power that’s been accumulated in the governors office, it would seem to me that an AISD affiliated (but totally separate, wink wink) PAC should be spending money on influencing the incumbent. As we’ve seen from the two assholes in West Texas, it doesn’t appear to cost that much to buy yourself a governor.
  12. Uh, not only do I disagree, but I bet Colin disagrees. It’s why he feels compelled to repeat “hey, I played in the NFL” over and over again. Its not like he’s Troy Aikman. The Beto in a old truck hitting every county wasn’t the first time we’ve seen a Dem for state wide office do it-he just did it better and actually had a competent social media team to help those visits reverberate. If I was running a campaign I sure as shit would run the same play (pun intended) unless I had a compelling enough candidate that I could pull off just being in the big cities.
  13. Debate Producer: Just between us, Senator, do you think it's advisable to schedule campaign stops with industry leaders when you have such a low opinion of their product? Sen. Jay Billington Bulworth: My guys are not stupid. They always put the big Jews on my schedule. You're mostly Jews, right? Three out of four of you?
  14. You keep bringing this up and I just know why it makes sense to trade blindly for whatever might be behind Door #3. Every draft is a crap shoot. That’s one reason why I wouldn’t prioritize someone pulling minutes from the wings.
  15. I’m also a little skeptical that the Astros can get more value in trade for Bregman than a 4th. We’ll never get him now but I really liked the scouting reports on Joey Ortiz when he a big trade chip in the off-season. I don’t keep up with prospects like I used to but that’s the kind of template I’d be hunting-high contact ability. Our minor league system is full of dudes who can run like the wind, hit the ball a mile, and will strike out 150-200 times with 600 at bats.
  16. I don’t think you’ll get much. Every team has a Chas or two. Some of them are named Trey or Jesus.
  17. I hope the convo starts with Coby Mayo. Play him at first the rest of the year and he can take over third for Bregman next year.
  18. Very interesting statistical profile in 44 AA innings. Missing lots of bats but not getting strikeouts. Also not homer prone. I’m not sure who’s a good match, maybe Jarred Cosart?
  19. How do you really have the opportunity to speed in Austin, anyway? I’m pretty excited if I can drive 55 in town.
  20. *looks at 2011 ShaggyBevo post excited about Winds of Winter after waiting six years for the “imminent” Dance of Dragons.
  21. Well sure, but I'd rather it be because the audience won't turn out for Dr. Pimple Popper and 90 Day Fiancee rather than see expensive but ambitious HBO productions fail to launch.
  22. Negged for not feeding them a daily ration of beer and a massage.
  23. I haven’t watched House of Dragons but why is the viewership drop a good thing?
  24. I mean, let’s be frank, all those California originators that got rich in the late ‘90’s are constantly sucking each other off and giving each other bullshit awards. I mean; you basically had to be an imbecile not to make money in mortgages back then in an incredible growth market. It’s like it was for us in 2021-2022 but they had a decade of it. At least Barry has the balls to hang himself; everyone else is in coaching or peddling software. There’s also not a whole lot of competition in that space. Pretty much all the macro guys I listen or read have been predicting a recession to happen any day now since May of 2022.
