  1. but, but, but the rich men north of richmond!
  2. Maybe my all-time favorite gif.
  3. Haven't seen it but what press I did read about it was from a bunch of upset progressives about how it's normalizing indigenous people to give up their kids to the state or something weird like that.
  4. My wife would do $100 worth stuff for the parents at Christmas time and another $100 for end of the year (Teacher week or whatever they would call it) every year back in the day. Can confirm that teachers appreciated it and for the siblings coming up through the pipeline behind them it helped turn those 88's and 89's into 90's on the ole transcript Maybe it's placebo in my mind, but teachers are humans and in a jump ball they probably bias for the kids/families they like, was always my guess.
  5. Nice humblebrag, Dr. Casanova.
  6. Jewish, too, right? 10 commandments is OG Torah iirc....
  7. It makes sense if you think about it from the auspices of the WNBA writ large: Caitlin Clark is a single point of failure in the sense that Caitlin Clark has, by almost every analysis and estimation conducted, single-handedly grown the WNBA. In whatever metric you want to look at (e.g. eyeballs, ad spend, revenue, attendance, viewership, sponsorships, household name/normalization, non-fringe zeitgeist). She is akin to the celebrity CEO of a company who, if he/she gets hit buy a bus, the stock would tank 40% overnight. So the WNBA needs to diversify and hedge against the single point of failure (aka Caitlin Clark being catastrophically injured, leaving for a Saudi basketball team, or getting caught doing something morally egregious at a massage parlor) even if these things are wildly far-feteched and unlikely. You use the good times to plan for the worst case scenario and start putting contingency strategies into place for when/if they are needed. 100% the ex-Deloitte partner who runs the WNBA gets this and is thinking about this strategically. The problem is that it takes time to build off the Caitlin Clark catalyst to create an ecosystem of mini-Caitlin Clarks (and eventually, the "next" Caitlin Clark). The existing "legacy" WNBA'ers are bemoaning that they are chopped liver (except for the aforementioned exceptions over the last couple of pages and which @SarkAfterDark name checked previously) and instead of taking the hard swallow of (mostly) reality, are over-indexing on having a grudge on the white girl taking the women's basketball world by storm. And, to be fair, there is probably SOME truth to the idea that being mostly black and queer was not doing them any favors when trying to be the Patrick Mahomes of WNBA (complete with State Farm ads every 7 minutes) versus the straight white girl. This is America, after all (cue Donald Glover meme)....
  8. Yea for sure. But like others have said, his story is far from being over (for good and for bad).
  9. I guess he has engaged in some antics that do indicate that. But he's also responded to some things with some humility and good humor and cheer, which is usually a green flag for someone who has a healthy sense of self, identity, and emotional maturity. A couple of examples-- his response to being pranked on what is maybe the biggest day of his life in a myriad of emotions as things arent going well. He seemed to be able to empathisize with a dumb kid and not villianize: Speaking of having maybe your lowest and most embarrassing moment in life the subject of a high profile organization and headline news story for all to jeer, he seemed to show some humility and good humor: Maybe the funniest was his self-awareness and laughing at himself with the "are you going to buy your number like Cam Ward did?" questions: Talking about a 4th round rookie deal pf $4mm vs Cam Ward's $48.7mm deal.
  10. Can you DM me a mail order service perchance? I keep hearing about this mail order thing.
  11. Serious question though, how can anyone our age smoke a whole joint and not be completely shot for the rest of the day? One solid drag and I'm good for many hours. Weed is too strong these days. And what's up with the stupid electronic vapes? What happened to zigzags? Get off my lawn.
  12. My grandkid has a friend that lives in one of those weird gated communities where everyone has a hangar and there are these little planes that taxi along the street and you have to stop at stop signs for them to pass you. It's very strange. The homes are pretty basic but I guess because you have a huge glorified barn on yoru property and a hobby plane, every house is like a minimum $3mm. I go to that neighborhood to carpool for school or birthday parties or what have you and I think to myself it's the riskiest and most insane thing a lawyer-by-day or run of the mill orthodontist could ever do. It feels like not a matter of when but if, but maybe I'm just a big baby and/or too poor to understand.
  13. Sold my Knicks shares for $.19 cents earlier today and shoved the profits into Stars to win it all when they were down 3-1. Life is good, life is good.
  14. The Onion had a great interview in Vogue, but this quote was spot on: What’s the biggest difference between Elon Musk and the CEO of The Onion? “I know I’m not funny—and he has no idea,” says Ben Collins. In the 12 months since The Onion’s purchase last year, it has reached new comic heights—see: viral headlines like “Nation Can’t Believe It on Harvard’s Side”—while increasing its cultural footprint. Collins sits down for a long, fascinating talk on many topics, including the publication’s attempt to purchase Infowars and how he turned The Onion around. As Collins tells VF’s Chris Murphy, “There’s nothing fascists hate more than getting truly ripped on.”
  15. Getting Chippy, my dudes.
  16. He was always my favorite part of 1 Train.
  17. Trump is a moron and hateful person and the South African President comes off as more articulate and thoughtful. That said, today I learned the South African government did pass a law permitting the government to take land without compensation in a process that is subject to judicial review. Oof.
  18. China helped Pakistan during India clash? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-05-18/china-gave-pakistan-satellite-support-indian-defense-group-says
  19. I don't get it.
  20. They can't all be classics. Like I said, a breezy beachy vibe, will have a nice few month run for me.
  21. It takes a pathological person to try and zing someone who's loved one/spouse just received essentially a death sentence. I cannot even theoritically understand that mindset. I cannot imagine hating someone so much. I don't know.
  22. I read that as that was the joke-- as in he was trolling her for using her Dr. title despite not being a medical doctor. In his mind that was funny. No, in his mind that was hilarious, hence the pin.
  23. They weren’t up 3-1 when that happened? And for the record I did lick the Knicks in April to be in the Finals (versus the Lakers lol).
